@@Nasirdude123 you can totally make it. I used the arabian horse the fastest I think. Once you get past the first gang of deputies or whoever the fuck (about 4 or 5) by dead eying them in the dome just hoof it no pun intended all the way to blackwater as fast as possible no prob. Expect to die at the end though. Escape would be tough. The town comes alive with bounty hunters who are crack shots. Good luck

I was in black water playing poker and i hear someone say some guy came to blackwater all the way from van horn. And this was days after doing that challenge. Just thought that was pretty cool.
Now that is some insane detail's by rockstar.
It’s little things like that is why I love this fucking game. I absolutely love this game, even ted dead 1 and the undead one. I play so many games all the top ones and lot of others and although I love a lot of games, red dead is my number one favourite game I ever played. Battlefield is my number one multiplayer game but when it comes to single player it’s gotta be red dead. Any of them 1 or 2 or the undead. Undead was so well made with the horses of the apocalypse and everything. Fucking love this game. There are so many other small details like the one you mentioned, just top notch. Top fuxking notch.
This is one of many things about this game that is enormously frustrating

- You can pause and look the map.
- You can't get off the horse.

I did it as Arthur, holy fuck, for the last hour, my Arthur was on a strickt diet of Health potions... They can't kill you if you constantly drink these potions, at least, my Arthur didn't died...

Made it with Arthur. Still at first camp @ 37% completion. Got murdered within 10 secs of hitting blackwater. Was out of stamina by beechers hope. Miracle tonic saved my ass.

Carlos O it boosts the stamina thing a tiny bit every other time you do it. it’s really handy when you’re doing these races

Took my own kinda different route to get to that road beside owanjila lake and from the time I got there and onward anything that could happen would lol. I got jumped by those rival ranch guys which stopped my horse, my GPS kept wanting to take me backwards and through the water, my horse got spooked by a bear slowing it down, then spooked by a cougar slowing it down. Luckily I still made it in time.
Discovered an issue a little note you'll want to add is if you try using Cinematic Camera at any point during the run it ends the run. Rain doesn't matter at all. Made this discovery from failing like 20 times.

I jumped a bridge as I was leaving black water since it was broken in the middle... I took a different route from Van Horn to blackwater and I took the same bridge that I jumped... I failed to realize that the bridge was at a different height from where I originally jumped from. My horse tripped and fell into the river and died. I reloaded my save only to find out that the last time I saved the game was during the challenge from strawberry to Saint Denis...I was furious.
used this route, made it on my first try. used a mustang and spammed L3 until my thumb was numb. i also got jumped by some skinner brothers but just kept going lmao - 15 mins, thanks m8

Thank you. This, a bunch of Minty Game and more Health Cures and Potent Horse Medicine than I care to admit, I have gotten Horseman 9 on Arthur.
i got an easier way for the first part. First stop in the stable above Van horne get your Horse Tack and Service - service - Horse care package. this will last whole ride. no need for potions. Then go into van Horne.. now turn and head north out of Van horne and take the Railway all the way north and around the whole time all the way to the junction at monto's rest and diablo ridge where the appleseed Timber CO clearing is. this will save you from any encounters for the whole first 9-10 mins of the journey and no water etc. mark that juntion on map. when you get there.. mark the juntion above the O in Owanjila Dam.. ride thru strawberry to there (i encountered horse thieves right there. but just rode thru them after they stopped me and down the slight hill to the bridge to shave time... put a marker to the right of the L in taLL trees. then when you get there marker black water and ride like the wind.. its about 15mins. giving you time to spare.. between the Dam and Tall trees try to stay on the path so you don't fall off horse on a rock etc. good luck. keep hammering x, and L3 every 3rd x will keep the meter full. good luck
This route worked great, I made it in a solid 15 min on a fox trotter (and that includes time I spent looking at the map). I had to do two runs because I ran into a rock and fell right before the Owanjila dam lol. It's worth it to go slow and steady on those trickier parts. My second run went off without a hitch - got stopped by some horse rustlers at the dam but dead eye took them out in a few seconds.
Dont ya love it when a NPC crosses you off and makes you fall off your horse at the footsteps of Beechers Hope?

Tried this 3 times today. Fallen off horse, got shot up by bounty hunters and went wrong path into river. Please don't tell me they disqualify you if it' raining and you run into a puddle

Thanks got it......only one interruption i had some gang guys surrounded me...i quickly activate the dead eye and kill em all......never dismounted the horse during entire long journey
I've attempted about 3 times now; each time I managed to trip and fall off my horse.
Press R3 to calm your horse.
That was my only fear while doing this. I got it first try tho, so just look out for rocks if you ever go off path. Also pre-emptively slow down just a little bit anytime you go off path at all, so you can better control your horse, have more time to scan for rocks ahead as well as move out of the way of trees, that and you're just overall less likely to crash if your momentum is slower.

Yall do know there is a broken bridge below riggs station at the dotted line right? Its cuts out all of going around to strawberry. Catch is the middle of the bridge is busted out. I made the jump but lost control on other side because i vered off to the side and killed my horse. Just a thought.
I made that jump first time, with no issues on a shire, doing the save Sean mission.
Three times trying this trial and the Arabian will not do the jump. It tries to rear right before the jump as I'm hitting the jump button.

If you're not already, try it with a horse that doesn't spook easily. I did this trial on a Shire and was well under 12 mins.
Stop at the bridge and line it up and hit the jump button right before you run off. I have not missed this jump yet on a horse that doesn't spook at the wind.
I did this with a gang stopping me. And a train passing by (i waited) in that big bridge. So no excuses

This challenge is literally impossible to complete as Arthur but then again it is possible because people have done it. I gave up after a train blocked the bridge and also after when I was 90 percent there Pinkerton’s were in my way. Although them killing me was not the issue. it was mainly because they kept blocking the road so my horse always runs into one of them knocking me off my horse and failing the challenge. Honestly not worth completing as Arthur. Even if I did try to evade them more would spawn and get in my way. Also my horse would often get scared and also knock me off my horse which is just really annoying. I attempted it about 20 times and it’s just a waste of time. It’s better off to do it as John and safely get there.
I was doing the one going from strawberry to Saint Denis, was about to pass fucking Rhodes and the goddamn Lemoyne Raiders set off fucking tnt in the road and blew me off my horse. Suffice to say I was pissed

This is literally the same route I took and the game will not allow me to complete the challenge! I've done it three times now! I had similar difficulties with the dry run from Stawberry to Saint Denis! Can anyone help or is anyone having similar issues?

I try to do it, two times already with arthur at cap. 4 and never work. Horse gold, with the stables service, and full of extacy for the horse and i pass to blackwater without kill nobody, only run and run. I pass left stawberry and after with the railway like you. Oh...Nothing to do! Someone else try it?

wtf man... i did it a second time and i still ldiddnt complete it.. i even beat you there.. wtaf, how the hell.. also, what horse is that? you didn't run out of stamina once and i did like three times so i used the tonics on my horse to fill the bars

I met the train on the bridge
The challenge io Blackwater - van horn or van horn - black water. In my game is Blackwater - van horn but on RUclips I see video with van horn - Blackwater. I play on Xbox one in Italian but a think don’t metter

I also play in Italian but on PS4 and to me it also say Blackwater -> Van Horn.
I have tried other ways to do this and never completed it. Tried this 1 time and completed it easy
I got 5 bounty hunters at bottom of the hill at start of blackwater where you can jump down twice or go around bend. I can kill all 5 in under 10 seconds but the next set of bounty hunters comes from the path I need to take into blackwater so even if I kill them, I'm screwed because more keep coming. I tried running around the first and second set but 1st set kills me b4 I heal and second set gets me b4 I make it to blackwater every time. Any idea to reset position of the bounty hunters?
Just complete the game. Or if you already did than pay your bounty.

Lmfao i pressed triangle by mistake when i went to view the map just before Blackwater, wot an arse and yh some turd ina wagon turned infront of me too.
Farck. Still wanted dead or alive in Tall Trees/ Black Water (im still in chapter 3). Thought I’d give it a go though. As soon as I got into Tall Trees bounty hunters were shooting at me. Made it away and in the last straight to Blackwater but another group of bounty hunters spawned and mowed me down.
13 minutes wasted
I’ve seen someone make it through the plains, but there were ‘ghost snipers’. Nobody was around yet he was getting shot for massive damage. For some reason R* made it impossible to explore that location. As someone who has finished the epilogue and is going for 100% completion, I’ve got no clue why. I can’t think of a logical reason for them to do that. It’s sad that they basically render 1/5 of the map useless and only people who are more completionist will really use it at all.

More like the whole story. You could go there while still in the epilogue, but most of the missions are close together and pretty short. Don’t rush though, as the story really kicks off as chapter 3 comes to a close.
Also only few animals you can find in that part of the map. I completed everything except the hunting request's, Hopefully i will be done with the single player in few hours.

Just west of Lake Isabella you’ll find her. That’s about as far to the northwest that you can go. She died for reasons I can’t say. I’m in the epilogue and I’ve been using the gold horse from Saint Denis until recently. I found another horse in New Austin like the Arabian by Lake Isabella. She is a unique Mustang and can be found south of Armadillo. I can’t remember the exact location so I’ll try to describe it. She is on a cliff that drops into the huge river that acts as a border to the south. If you know where the legendary Pronghorn is, it’s just southwest of the icon on the map.

@@NetworkErrors I paused during this run so pause does not a problem. Not sure about getting wet, bcz many people said to me only rivers count. But i will suggest you to start around 11 am when weather is clear.

Does it still count if u fall of your horse or hit a small puddle of water on the road ?. There's a small broken bridge on the waterline near blackwater that u could jump with your horse btw saves a lot of time
No, Falling of your horse or touching any water does not count. I failed 2 or 3 attempt because of puddle of water. And i m not sure about the broken bridge.

Puddles and rain doesn't affect this at all. Just don't touch rivers or seas.

How do you do this as Arthur? It's legit impossible, have tried three times and it's obviously quite a lengthy endeavour. Killed by lawmen every time i enter Blackwater.
Just complete the story first. Maybe try to get other challenges out of your way.
There's a mission in chapter 4 titled Angelo Bronte, a man of honor. If you replay this mission and get spotted by police while escaping the graveyard you can explore all of new Austin as Arthur. I know this is a late reply but hopefully you still get some use from this info.
This is by far the worst route you can take. There are several shorter and less complicated routes than this one.
Agreed, this goes way out of the way. I've run a straight line across Lemoyne. Getting off the trail around the M cutting across eris field, back on near the Old Greenbank Mill. I tend to take the trail instead of the railroad just to prevent running into the train. Bards crossing. To riggs, down to the broken bridge and haul ass into Blackwater, made in just under 10mins on a shire. Then 180 and get the hell out because I'm still wanted down there. Nearly died getting back across the border though.
The rain can stop the challenge? Cause 2 times I do the same way like you in 14min and challenge isn't good.. But 2 times the rain was here..
I think yes. But some people in comment said no. So i will suggest you make sure every thing is clear when you are starting.

Nope.
I don't think you actually slow on train tracks. I've noticed that if the way you're leading is elevated high enough your horse slows down possibly so you don't accidentally ride off the side.

Mostly, but i noticed some drops in strory missions. Run's smooth in freeroam.
