Las Vegas Motor Speedway
March 11, 2007
When going through my old tapes, I came across this race, the first Las Vegas Cup race in the new variable degree banking. This race saw a lot of cautions for crashes. Jeff Gordon led the most laps, but it was Jimmie Johnson who went to victory lane.

@LostHighwayFilms This was the first Sprint Cup race with the new configuration. The actual first race was the 2006 Smith's Las Vegas 350 Truck race.
I thought the "NCSU" in your handle looked familiar, and then when I saw the WRAZ legal ID that confirmed it :)
Thanks for putting this up
JJ Yeley had a good stint in 07 but sadly he couldn't show his full potential because of Kyle Busch taking the 18 to new heights.
1:24:38 Picture Kurt Busch over the radio after that speeding call: "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!" lol...
2:01:23 The best thing Mike Joy has ever said.
SuperBlackdeth666 his best was in a race in the early 90's when he said "no shit sherlock" to another commentator during the commerical break. It can be heard on the Satelite feed of that race.
Man, these cars were semi-Indycars by 2007.
Debut for Aric Almirola
If y’all pause it at 1:30:14 Carl Edwards is driving a Chevy on the 3D cam instead of a Ford. Whoopsie Fox sports!!!
"give a call to JJ Yeley, he crashed the minute he went out on the track in practice"
yep that all but sums up his career with Gibbs.
Jeff Burton showing what that car can do when it's not in crashin Robbie Gordon's hands.
Ward Burton Robby Gordon and Casey Mears
Green Flag at 4:50
Leonefan Yeah no doubt, I can see why NASCAR thought change might of been needed, but the COT was a total butt-fuck. Had some good racing but god it was ugly.
Why would they change Las Vegas ti like every other awful 1.5 mile track.

This new format of the track sucked. The old one was way better. But just look at all those people. How the mighty have fallen...
