@D3ZG1978 I agree...my grandfather was a watchmaker back in the 50's...he cursed them, hated them for their cheapness and throw away worth, so I grew up with his attitude. So the thought of spending that much on a Timex is a little out there.
The marithon was my first “real watch” followed by the lumnox. I was given a broken HAMILTON and all it needed was a main spring. And the Seiko 5 is one of my favorite watches of all time.
The dial on the Maen that goes from brown to Black his just genius. I would buy one today if I had the money. I live in South Carolina and now my office manager that makes about $500 a week and I have a lot of bills. This is probably one of my favorite watches I can't get!
I just ordered the Maen Hudson 38 GMT with the black/brown bezel and I'm really looking forward to seeing it on my wrist. I've wanted a GMT for some time now and this one checked all the boxes for me.
Wearing my PVD Black Hamilton Khaki Field mechanical as I watch this video - love this watch! Picked it up for £250 and it’s probably my most worn in my little collection
How did you go through the entire GMT section without mentioning a single watch with the true GMT Miyota 9075 movement? I'm wearing a 39.5mm Traska on my wrist right now that cost $700, with hardening on case and bracelet and 150m wr. And theres plenty of other brands taking advantage of the movement. Pretty wild to leave all of those off this list
What do you think about the new Hamilton Navy Scuba Diver? I would love you to make a video about this watch. Especially for the white dial. It's gorgous.
Good video - thanks! One of the most established and underrated brands that provide incredible amount of value is Nivada Grenchen. Their Datomaster, Chronometer and Antarctic range would be in my opinion more than capable alternative to some of the watches presented.
The accurist retro racer looks exactly like the Geckota but is like 100 pounds and I think came out first. Blue, brown or silver dual. Looks like they might share the same case and movement too
i’m probably the only person that wants this, but would love if studio underd0g made their chronographs in mechaquartz so I don’t have to worry about getting a seagull movement serviced
That Timex Expedition North Titanium... I got one, but the noise the rotor made every time I moved my wrist was just too loud. Maybe I got a dud, but I sadly sent it back
It's quite ironic that the Hamilton followed the Timex. The Hamilton has been the go-to field watch for years, but the Timex Pisses all over it in pretty much every department.😆
I love my Trident. It’s my first and only Christopher Ward at this point, but there are more in the future. The quality and design are undeniable. It’s no wonder why they are the high end of microbrands.
Unfortunately Seiko has fallen in terms of quality. My hourologist had to break ties with them after more than 20 years of affiliation because of quality issues. Over the last couple of years every 2nd watch he needs to deal with, is Seiko. He said that Seiko uses cheaper parts for it's movements they use brittle alloys, so he couldn't continue to step behind Seiko.
Saturation diver, baby. It's a shame they've been discontinued for years now. Fortunately for me, I got lucky and bought a mint white dial several months ago; it's got a lot of personality and the quality is top notch.
Stop praising Christopher Ward! I had one and I’m very unhappy with their quality and costumer service. But I see this channel talking about them all the time. There’s so many other brands in same price range that are much better choice.
My Trident-Pro had a problem when I got it but their customer service handled it without hassle. Still wear the watch 10 years later. No problems. Maybe it's just you?
You could have added integrated bracelet genre - Tissot Prx; Maen Manhattan 37, Timex Q/M79, Citizen Tsuyosa. I would not put the CW12 because on bracelet kicks you over the $1k limit
@@AverageRecords I agree. Not my favorite model. I just meant the "US gov" print is optional, on all their models. I have a different one, and of course chose not to have it. Not being American, it would be just... weird.
With the price hike of the hamilton khaki it isn't that great for the price anymore if i'm honest. The only redeeming quality of the watch is the "swiss made". The finishing isn't very good, the movement is super basic and not very accurate either, (not much better than a seiko 4R35).
What we all know,is that Martina, unless you’re a horse,is the feminine equivalent for Martin! For your education Martini is a last name. At least you do justice to your looks. In more than one way too.
Best under 1k in every category and not one Chinese brand? In 2023?Really? Not too long ago, slightly sniffy channels ignored microbrands in arbitrary lists like this. Then it got to the point where micros got so big or popular that ignoring them exposed an embarrassing lack of knowledge and awareness - a bit like now but with Chinese watches. Carry on gents; meanwhile open-minded folk will ride along with Chinese brands like Baltany and San Martin as they re-write the rules of the watchmaking game. Maybe one day you'll catch up?
No offense, but i think it was much better when we had watches to watch while you were talking, instead of your faces - as pleasant as they look, by the way. But still ...
Time is running out on the Maen x Watchfinder collaboration. Get yours here: www.maenwatches.com/products/skymaster-38-mkiii-watchfinder-edition
Finally, both of you are back!!!
I’m 39 seconds into the video and already Tom is in action, I love it. Tom is on the job. Thanks Tom, I mean Andrew 😎
“Cover your wrist…… Cover your ass.” No more need be said.
I gotta admit...Timex has really upped their game...that field watch is amazing.
Yes but I wouldn’t spend £300+ on one!

“Worn by James Marsden in Sonic the Hedgehog- you can’t put a price on that! £545.” 💀
This is a GREAT selection
left out a few prices
The Timex really shined here, I'm probably adding that Q gmt
Great video lads. Some fantastic watches to choose from and all at pretty sensible pricing.

True dat!! So many brands jumping on the superior Miyota movement.
Hi.
What would be your first watch recommendation for someone looking for a Swiss Automatic sporty/dive style watch under £1000.00 ?
Thank you.
Check out the Certina DS Action Diver, Tissot Seastar, and Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba!
@@chriscon8463 Great reccs !
My pick would be the Mido Oceanstar GMT

I bought the Marathon a few months ago. It's a gorgeous and fun watch and probably the most comfortable watch that I own
Tissot spelled backwards is "Toss it"
😂
Damn. Really? Oh shiznit. I can't unsee that.
'Stay in the shallows!' That's where the sharks are lol
Squale should made this list
Could you include next time a Quartz categorie ?
I've just bought my first swiss made watch - CW trident pro 300, I can't stop looking at it, it's really great! :)
The King Seiko reissue is a beautiful watch. Especially the version with the Champaign dial.
6:21 that is all 😂
I don’t think I would wear that Gekota but it stands of from many of the other watches in this list.
All bases covered by Seiko
Easy
i’m probably the only person that wants this, but would love if studio underd0g made their chronographs in mechaquartz so I don’t have to worry about getting a seagull movement serviced
Honestly you aren't. In addition to repair headaches, I don't want a hand winder
Personally I wouldn't waste money servicing a $500 watch. Put the money towards another watch.
Mankind link in the description, ? Nope can;t find it, sorry.
Hamilton is for sure over price .
200m doesn't mean that you can dive to 200m
Yeah. 200m means you can safely dive to 100m.
11:35 Injection molded Stainless Steel???? wtf
I just made a similar comment about "super titanium'

What the heck is super titanium? What does it mean? There are levels. Is super titanium the equivalent of level 2? Level 5? What does that mean?
Negative on the yellow gold. As least for me.
Christopher Ward with the Trident of Neptune second Hand , nice.
90s are retro!!! WTF??? I am feeling old today!
I heard of a new technology…an invention with a sharp edge and a thing they call a “handle”…I think they call it a razor

The same or similar movements are in watches more than twice the price of a Hamilton. Like Oris or Rado.

Sadly, it does resemble a tapeworm more than a seahorse - maybe a seaworm.
