Do you need a car to get around? (If you were living in hay market)

We used one while visiting, since it was only a 2-hour drive from our home to get there. Not really sure how walkable it is, or how the public transportation works, for anyone without a car. It's not a massive city, but the majority of people living in or visiting Lincoln are (probably) driving around.
