Who would give a man pouring out his heart a thumbs down?

Maybe because there’s more to this story - his story - that’s missing?
There is an hour plus video where he does his comic routine for the first 3/4 of the show, than tells his full story the remainder.
Very revealing. Raw honesty and courage on display.

Absolute respect for the magnificent courage of the man who - without evasions or excuses - takes total responsibility for his actions, and for his determination to change his life for the better, for his wife and family. 👍

Wow. I just searched this guy out because I know he’s a great comedian... I didn’t know he was a man with demons and a story as to how he got to where I know him from... much respect , Jeff ❤️

The ugly truth is the beautiful of what God can do of us his children.
beautiful story. Awesome. God bless you because through this truth of how ugly we are there we can lead others to Christ!

I'm what they call a functioning alcoholic for going on 30 years. What that means is you go to work, pay your bills, cut the grass and raise your kids. After they go bed? It's my time. Mind you I'm a single father with 2 kids so there is a LOT of pressure on me to make ends meet. I NEVER hit my children or wife, always made sure they had what they needed and clean clothes, food, bathed, schooled, ect. They are great kids but once they are out on their own............................I fear where I will go. What purpose would I provide? Will my disease take over because I no longer have that motivation? Will they find me at the bottom of the steps one day visiting me? I'm sorry. This is inappropriate. Or is it? I love the mother of my children and will to the end of my existence. I love my family and all that it includes as well. Will anyone find this?

A lot of people found this. You posed a lot of questions at one time; "What purpose would I provide? Will my disease take over because I no longer have that motivation? Will they find me at the bottom of the steps one day visiting me?
I can only partially answer one, beyond that you will have to seek out your own best answers.
My partial answer - Your disease can only fully take over your life if you let it. It sounds as if you have been pretty sharp thus far and made a lot of right decisions while functioning as an alcoholic. Just imagine what you can do and the purposeful focus you will have without alcohol in your life.
Find a good "AA" meeting to attend and get involved as soon as you can. Millions have found peace and lasting sobriety there and they realized somewhere along the line while doing so that their life had way more meaning than they could ever have imagined. Begin today to search out a better life and peace of mind for your future.

God will change the heart of anyone who will look their sinful nature in the face, turn away from it, and trust in Him to save them from themselves. People can't be saved unless they're willing to admit they're sinners, and Jeff was honest about himself in this. He stared at his own twisted reflection, and allowed God to change his heart through Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Romans 3:23 .. for All have sinned, and fall short.. ( saved by grace, Jesus Christ who died for those who repent and, put their heart mind body and soul, into loving Him, read for yourself)❤️

Wow.. And may I say deservant of a standing ovation till the palms bled, Mr. Allen you speak for quite a few of us -whether coke or alternative causes, we - as a race- prove weaker than our aspirations. I would however rather see strength from within than "god" a Savior. One only leaps from one float to yet another instead of learning to swim.
    Respect.

Wow to you for your words - as an atheist I totally agree with your last two sentences, particularly the wonderfully wise words in your last sentence. I’ve only just come across Jeff Allen - true serendipity - and I’ve been searching YT and binge watching his brilliant performances since. His marriage routines are absolutely superb. I admire him greatly after learning about his life story.
I live in England and follow several American comedians, but I had never heard of Jim. I’m fine with swearing/dirty routines, but it’s refreshing to have a break from that kind of humour sometimes. I hope more people ‘discover’ him too.
