I feel like the concluding idea of this video is so valid, all laptops have their issues. It's just the opportunity cost of choosing form factor over other factors. But regardless, too many people complain on the internet about such minor things.
What about the sidecar problem, as I lost my sidecar icon on my top of screen and try everything to get it back. Do you have any other advice on how to get it back.
Apps for heating sounds great, cooling pad will also help. MB Pro 16 is very thin and cooling suffers as the result. I like app which allows to swap graphic cards, which is easily accessible under Windows.

@@TomScryleus The M1 is a beast however still had that beach ball when loading things sometimes. I swapped it out for the 16inch macbook because I wanted the bigger screen and I'm too impatient to wait the redesigned ones to come out with the new chips. This I7 16in has quite of bit of lag to it at times which is annoying.
@@nickrambo3532 i think it ultimatel depends on what you use it for. RIGHT NOW, the mbp16 is th best macbook for video editing.

We thought it wasn't possible until the M1 chip stepped into the scene.
nice video, thank you. Wanted to make a note that i have the fully loaded MBP 16 inch 8 core (64gb ram, 8gb video, etc). and the only issue i have observed is sometimes i get a flicker when connected to external monitor.
Outside of that, no issues
From what I understand, the video you mentioned earlier with Matt said the 8 core model would result in a quieter and cooler performance than the 6 core model. Is this true? Because I may consider returning my 6 core for it. I didn't have many problems with it besides the fans being ver loud when trying to start a coding program. I downloaded the software you recommended! So far in hopes I will see results! Love the content yet again.
Thank you for this comprehensive review. Crazy how some people think this is the best computer apple has ever made and some feel like it’s the devil incarnate. You are right, though, there is no perfect computer.
Just to be clear, are there issues connecting it to an external monitor or is was that just a random example. I use a 2016 with an external monitor and literally could never go back for video editing.
Also, I hate to tell you this but this but a quick glance at your videos and I can tell you this particular channel is not just a tech channel, but an Apple/MBP channel. It’s is EXTREMELY hard to retrain the algorithm once it has spoken. If you want to do something else, you might be better off starting over and just leaving this for the Apple stuff because if you collect a bunch of subscribers looking for Apple info and try to feed them some other topic, they won’t go with you. Even if they wanted to, the algorithm won’t even show them the thumbnails. It’s incredibly frustrating, but trust me, I’ve learned this the hard way.
i don't mind being a apple/MBP channel. But thanks for the heads up. I have a lot of experience of the youtube algoritm also (this is not my only channel).

@@TomScryleus that is good cause its amazing how perfect and stupid some things are, even after catalina. Sometimes i wonder if they use the basic tasks after making these fancy improvments. For ex. one cannot go direct to from the full screen to the the split view? One cannot customize the size of the button on the corner of the window. So you have a big display, wants espace, but then you die minimizing or maximazing the windows with the mouse. You also die trying to shut the computer out and closing apps without forcing the shut down button. I search an app for this. The side car accepts ipencil but not your finger as a mouse...wtf. When doing important operations with the finder, you cannot be sure when is it ready or if it was moved or not, it is somehow unsafe. I use command one for this, but then you loose the good things of finder... I use now you app Card Status, i believe is good. But also one cannot see things in real time happening, like activity monitor. So there is a lot to talk about yet ;) check my channel
btw. i wonder why does catalina not offer the features of the magnet app, its like an unnecessary extension. Point for the app, blame on apple. Same for that app that hide the desktop apps, it could be built in the update, though this is not esssential thing for everyone.

For the freezing problem, I read that some users reported that Apple fix this bug on MacOS 10.15.5 beta 4 and 5. I hope that Apple will release this version soon 🤞🏼 In the meantime I installed the beta version

I think I subscribed to your channel because of your original 16 inch Macbook Pro video but I stayed for the minimalist content (and what you had to say about technology + minimalism). I think yea you have been posting a lot about your 16 inch but thats fine because hey its new and just because you are trying to live an intentional life doesn't mean you cant talk about the new stuff in your life. I think it might be interesting to have some videos that are maybe retrospective about why you own the things you do or why you take the actions that you do. I like the behind the scenes as it breaks up your techy videos into non tech and reminds me that yes this is not a tech channel, just a guy who wants to make videos.

Silent max running machine? I sold it to get the 16", but it was my vesa iMac 27" with core i9 and SSD. Essentially silent and absolute beast for coding on. My 16" is way hot and fans run a lot on it under same conditions.
Comparing laptops to desktops is a bit unfair. You cant cool laptops the same way. The heat and loud fans are the price you have to pay for that portability.

I'm a new MacBook Pro 16" Owner since July (I'm abandoning Windows). I've not found the issues you describe in this video. However, there is something that nags me. Whenever I'm typing text, whether here, in an email, or in Pages, etc. a few seconds after I start to type, the cursor jumps to a random spot earlier in the text stream I am typing. I am not a fast typist, and I cannot figure out what's going on. Do you have any ideas?

Nice video, I suscribe! I have one question, if I install the two apps for choose gpu or turn off turboboost, can I uninstall them after? I am new in MAC OS system and I dont get 100% how to uninstall and delete an app.
I have a 16" Macbook Pro with the 8 core, i9 and so far, no issues.
The popping sound fix on the 16" MBP can be fixed by going to spotlight and search Audio Midi Setup, and click on Macbook Pro Speakers and changing the format to 48hz and it will disappear!

I am thinking of going for one of these machines but seeing these issues it worries me .... even more because I would like to also game(since it runs pretty much all the AAA games) on it. I have seenvideo were they adjust the wattage and turbo boost of the cpu and works like a charm. What do you think
Sadly I just havent tested a single game on the macbook 16 inch. So I dont want to lie to you, i just dont really know. I think in theory it does have the cpu, gpu and cooling for gaming.
i do my gaming on my nintendo switch. Huge fan of Botw.

Hi Tom! I just want to ask if there’s a way to fix an airdrop issue. I am using my 16” MBP for the past 2 months and just this week my Airdrop just stopped working while i’m just continuing sending photos from ng iphone. It just says “waiting” and it wont send the photos to the MBP. Yesterday I saw the photos in the downloads folder already sent but if didn’t prompted me an airdrop notif on my MBP like before. Hope you could help me. Thank you!
Airdrop isn't perfect... Ive had similar issues. I usually just repeat trying.

Hi Tom, well I'm one of those who love using Macs, I do have an issue with the new mbp16 2019 -- after i updated to 10.15.6 -- my screen suddenly "blinks" after waking (from sleep). Thanks.

Yoooo I changed my thermal paste made a difference of about 5 to 10 degrees, the problem is the MACOS, T2 chip and too much thermal paste on the CPU and GPU.

Help me with this problem pls... I was rendering on SketchUp and Enscape programs on the MacBook pro 16 " 2020 started to heat up and the fan started to run very fast I ignored it but then everything shut off lot all my rendering and my MacBook restarted, why is this happening?

#NewSubscriber I enjoyed your video, I bought the MacBook Pro i9 model early this year, no fan noise issue, but recently I am experiencing this, and it is freaking me out, even when I am not doing the heavy task, I share your sentiments on no perfect computers, just weird that I never had this issue on my late 2011 MacBook pro...it works flawlessly with all the big apps.
Dont freak out. Fan noise is not an issue. You got 8 cores in that cpu. It can generate heat when hyperboost activates. Its enough to watch 4k video on youtube.
