Happy Wednesday! I hope you enjoy today's writing retreat vlog! Sorry for the weird audio in the beginning--my phone was a bit pitchy in the car, but I switch to my camera shortly after! ❤❤ Also the countdown to Christmas is on...have you checked out Christmas As We Know It yet?! www.amazon.com/dp/B09KQY1TSX/
Great video! The only type of writing retreat I've attended was an all day writing session at a friend's house. It was lots of fun! We recently moved to a little town in WA where we live across from the lake. One of the residents, who is also an author, bought the elementary school a few years back when it closed down. (The building is really old). She fixed it up and set up retreat rooms in every classroom. It's really cool! So I have my choice of either a cabin on the lake or an old elementary school classroom. :)
I love writing retreats. The first one I ever went on I wrote 20k and ended up finishing my Nano project that year. These days I'm into Staycations. If my S.O has a long trip he's taking I'll premake food and give myself that time to focus on my work. I can normally edit a whole novel in a week if he's not here. He's going on a big trip in march (closures permitting) and I plan on doing a big writing week while he's away.
I agree with what you said about the word count. I just cut almost 6k words from my book because the story wasn't flowing easily. And because of that, I didn't want to write anything. But now that I've cut the words I can see how to get from where I am to the next act in the book and then the plan.
Come to Chicago! It’s only like 2-6 hours away depending on where you’re at in MI and we can meet up and I’ll show you around the city! Also I’ll show you all the bookish things in the area!

Hey! From Michigan too!! Yeah 😊👍!!!
I live in Michigan too! I'm heading to a place near Baldwin this Friday for a long weekend solo writing retreat. It's my first of many, I'm sure. 🙂
I love stay-cations! I typically do them for new year or my birthday but hotels have gotten expensive so I haven’t gone in a couple of years

Never done a writing retreat per se, but I did get a lot of writing done in October when I went on holiday!
That sounds awesome!! :D
I'm actually planning to go on my first writing retreat in January. Figured it'd be a great way to start the New Year ✒️📖
Oh, absolutely! Have fun and get all the writing! :D
Notifications for the win!! I had so much fun with the pop up last night 💕
Hocking Hills near Cincinnati is great for a weekend getaway in a cabin!
Ooh, that is a great idea!!
Oh my god! You're so gorgeous!!
Oh my go why do I keep forgetting that we literally live in the same state!!
I want to do this, but money is so tight, I barely have time to write at home let alone go somewhere else. Sigh. Maybe someday.

OH MY GOSH, I would be so down! There's a train near me that goes to Chicago 🤩
@@AuthorSarahSutton Yes! It goes right into union station which is like 15 minutes from where I’m at! I know all the best places to stay too:)
Have you ever thought about hosting a retreat for other writers to come with you? I’d come in a heartbeat
