I would kill to play this song again in band. The rush and anticipation of getting to the climax of the song. Then the relief after getting there and calming down! What an amazing song, to be able to make me feel that way. I’ll never forget! I love this song with all my heart!
Idk if it just me but prefer music that is slower it more complex timing everything correct and sound more beautiful I’m not saying I don’t like fast pieces
No matter how slow the song is I will fall in love with it because every song tells a story and I want to thank the composer Brian Balmages for making this beautiful piece! Great songs dont have to be fast, sometimes we just need a slow piece because its like a roller coaster. It feels like its taking forever when you go up to the top but then it goes really fast. Hes saying take your time. Don't rush anything because when i was a kid I wanted to be an adult so bad but I feel like this song is saying"slow down a bit and enjoy the little things. Value every little moment because one day all you'll have left of it is a memory
When I listen to this again after playing it for my sophomore spring concert, I forgot how much it meant to me then and I actually teared up this time, I forgot how I dedicated this song to me and my now graduated boyfriend, it starts slow and beautiful, but gradually gets more harsh and rough, it was us, it was how we were. I still remember us working on the hand off solo from oboe to trumpet, never getting it right until it finally clicked one day. I wish there was a video floating somewhere of it
Played this song my freshman year. Put it to a slide show of the year, and it moved us to tears. Revisiting it with a very young band, ans it still makes me feel like floating.
I’m a second trombone and day before the concert with this song my band teacher gave me all of first trombone solos cuz they might not be there, most stressful day of band in my life
I played this 4 years ago in 7th grade (though it didn't do this piece justice). now I'm a junior in high school band. but this will forever remain one of my most favorite pieces. one day I'd like to play this again somehow
ayo that bell part mixed with the marimba part was kinda hard ngl, we were playing two separate rhythms at the same time so it really messed with our concentration. But overall the song was beautiful and my mallet part really brought the stars into that song. A-F-D-F A-D-A-F, A-E-C-E A-C-E-A.....loved it
@@TheBandMan yes it sure is. It's very moving and has so much emotion is almost brings me to tears but I'm a happy way. It feels like an accomplishment of work and hard pain that had been freed by freedom and happiness. A wonderful piece indeed.
I'm doing this for my spring concert! I play oboe and I have the solo in measure 16 17 and 18!!!!! I'm the only only oboe player in the whole school!!!

I absolutely loved playing this in high school.
I have to thank band for introducing me to songs I now use in animations. I find these songs to be more fun to use than pop songs.

It’s great when a piece of music has such an impact on you!
