I haven't played this since 7th grade, and I'm a junior now. With online school I've been feeling really unmotivated and a little lost regarding orchestra, but this really reminded me why I love it so much. I have so many memories attached to this piece, and even though it's pretty easy compared to the things I'm playing now, I think it'll always be one of my favorites.
I’m violin 2 also and I can fully relate. The thing that helped me most was practicing it over and over and over and memorizing it so you can watch the conductor
Remember when I played this for a concert earlier this year. The song was hard to play, but it was totally worth it. Reminded me of the attempts. My current situations weren't good, but it feels comforting to think about them as the song nears it's end.
This song was really important for me to play in 6th grade because of the crescendos and making sure that your instrument wasn't too loud as to make sure you weren't overshadowing the other sections (which was extra hard as a cello). Another thing that I learned from this piece was tempo, tempo tempo tempo, tempo is so important for this piece (and all slow pieces) because if one person is off then another will lose it, then another, until half of the section would be off and the performance is ruined. A well-written piece that is perfect for young orchestras who are looking for a challenging yet manageable first slow piece.
I played this once every year at with the orchestra at Chaffey this is the signature song for my year of 2021 I will miss high school and it makes me cry because it was a great experience thanks to orchestra if anyone else see this just know orchestra mattered to some of us because it was the place that made us feel like home and made us feel like we belonged somewhere
3:47 This hit me like a train, I played this piece In a concert (I played Viola, I also play the Violin.) when I finally heard this song I knew why my conductor chose it.
Hot damn, I was not prepared for these feelings 😮 Came here on the recommendation of a friend who teaches middle school orchestra as an example of good youth music and HOLY HEARTSTRINGS 😮😮😮😮
we played this piece in an orchestra competition and two other ones, we won 1st! some parents emailed our music teacher that they almost cried during the performance 😭😃
Imma miss this song the most is my 2 year playing ochestra i really love it this song i played it in middle school i loved it so much brings memories had so much playing it it makes me emotional😢
We’re playing in 8th grade orchestra for our last concert of the year and a few years from now imma cry when i hear this song and think of all the beautiful memories I made
Im also doing this for my 8th grade orchestra! I love this piece so much, its so pretty and hits that emotional spot knowing that this is my last year at the school im at (9th grade i switch buildings)
i did it for 7th. it wasnt for the last concert, but second to the last. crazy how time flies. im gonna miss the 8th graders bc i wont see most of them since most are going to the south high school while very few are going to the north (im going to the north)
The first is a simple G Major but with the notes D, G and B going from the bottom to the top. Im not great with the names of these chords but I can tell you the notes from listening so the next thing it goes to is B,D,E,F# chord. Then it goes to an F Major chord with a B In there somewhere? Cant really tell, then it walks down to a D7 chord. Back to the G Major, C Major + a D in there somewhere, then walkdown to a D6 chord I think? Then A Major. Thats just the beginning, you can probably build off of this I would do the rest if I wasn't procrastinating my big assignment due tomorrow. Hope this helps :)
Is anyone here cuz they’re playing this in middle school for their concert or soemthing like that
Lmao I found this the same way
I loved playing this piece, wish I could again with my orchestra

3:39 Measure 58. Most beautiful and nerve-wracking 12 beats of music that I've ever played (I was violin 2- we have the eighth notes). Love this song

What pisses me off is violins have the melody for basically the entire piece. Why cant they be a bit quieter when cellos have their beautiful melody

But I agree
@@thegamingdood9375 LMAO
As a 1st violin I know that it's mostly the 1st violins who have the melody but that cello solo part is just🤚😫 and so are the other parts
