  • In Three Different Types of Woody Acoustic Pickups Part I, Kevin introduced you to the 3 different types of Woody acoustic soundhole pickups and showed you how easy it is to install a Woody pickup. In Part 2, Kevin explains in detail the differences between the Woody Single Coil, the Woody Hum Cancelling, and the Woody XL, and also plays a sound sample of each one, to help you decide which Woody model is right for your acoustic guitar.
    Woody Single Coil (SA-3SC):
The Woody Single-Coil is a passive magnetic sound-hole pickup that delivers bright, clear acoustic tone that is great for both high-intensity strumming and delicate finger picking. The single-coil design of the SA-3SC provides the player with more chime and top end brilliance.
    Woody Hum-Canceling (SA-3HC):
The Woody Hum Cancelling is a passive magnetic sound-hole pickup that delivers a warm, rich acoustic tone that is great for all types of acoustic playing and eliminates 60-cycle hum. The humbucking design of the Woody Hum Cancelling provides the player with a fatter, more compressed sound than the Woody Single-Coil version, and, because of the stacked-coil design, this pickup eliminates 60-cycle hum.
    Woody XL (SA-3XL):
The Woody XL is a passive magnetic sound-hole pickup with adjustable pole pieces that delivers a full spectrum acoustic tone that is great for everything from jangly strumming to delicate fingerstyle playing and eliminates 60-cycle hum. The stack design combined with the unique wind of the Woody XL provides the fat bottom end of the Woody Hum Cancelling with the sparkly top end of the Woody Single Coil version, all with no 60-cycle hum. The individually adjustable pole pieces also enable you to finetune your string to string balance!

Do these pick ups work in a classical/ nylon string guitar?

    • @FrankSteinhart

No. The magnets can catch the vibrations of metal strings only.

Too bad all you did was strumming. That is very far from what I would want to hear to get an idea of what the pickups sound like, where are the fingerstyle, the flatpicking, the lead tones? Also, the way the cable is located, it would be constantly in my way. Yikes. I think the cable location is a dealbreaker.
