  • In this clip from the Friday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by Mike's Beer Bar, host Christopher Carter and Post-Gazette Steelers insider Brian Batko ponder coach Mike Tomlin's options at CB following the NFL draft. Could sixth-round pick Ryan Watts possibly win a starting job opposite Joey Porter Jr.? What about internal options like Cory Trice Jr. and Darius Rush brought in by GM Omar Khan? Our duo tackles those questions and more.

    I HOPE it’s Trice. I hope he’s healthy

    If Trice comes back healthy is this the type of injury to Limit his athleticism. ? I am really rooting for this young man and hope we have a real strong CB in him.

      Not really cuz Hines was missing an acl and Peyton Wilson also missing one and he ran in 4.4’s

    Pat P wasn’t a coverage oriented guy last year, he was a cash the paycheck and give the opposition bulletin board material type guy.

    I think Porter got better as the season went on, until the last couple games. He seemed to run out of gas, or got complacent towards the end of the season, he wasn’t sticking to his guy 1 on 1, or making the plays in zone. Hopefully he was just worn out after a long NFL season and he adjusts.

      True. Offense was going 3rd and out like it was in style

    Can use these big CB for special teams for sure. Just need one to figure it out. Gilmore would be great as they develop.

    I think drafting Quinyon Mitchell CB would have allowed them to press, and in combination with TJ/Highsmith; shut down prolific QB’s. But their track record drafting 1st rd CB’s (Fartie Burns) is spotty. Weidl (and I) favor the remade OL; and maybe Trice is “That Guy” at CB2. Beanie at slot. If all this works out; we’re a WR2 away from playoff caliber.

    • @TheFactsMob
      @TheFactsMob 22 дня назад

      How TF is the 1st round CB picks "spotty" and they haven't taken one since the damn 90s with Chad Scott before Artie? And Artie still has an NFL job... you know how many 1st round OLBs or 2nd round WRs we've busted since 1995? Why didn't you say the same thing about them? Why do yall get one point and stick to the same thing no matter what changes? Totally different era and staff choosing players but OK 🙄

    • @nolashawn
      @nolashawn 21 день назад

      @@TheFactsMob There's who you draft AND how you develop them. There are self-starters like TJ, Cam, and Minkah that you luck into; and freak physical talents like Pouncey, Shazier, etc. Track record on WR is pretty exceptional. But outside of that are you seeing the expected 2nd year jump (from development) anymore? Our last first picks fro example: Kenny, Najee, Claypool, Devin Bush, Terrell Edmunds? Have you seen a cohesive O-line stronger than the sum of its parts since Munchak's departure? And what do you make of Kevin Dotson and Kendrick Green's immediate (and incriminating) success with their new teams? The secondary post-LeBeau survived by plucking Minkah and Joe Haden from other teams. Let's not forget the lingering effects of the hiring and retention of Matt Canada setting the offense back years developmentally. Adding Quinyon or Cooper DeJean would've created a secondary to be feared (Lucky Iggles somehow got both); but we needed to fix OL first.

    The defense is stacked everywhere. The secondary is still kinda suspect.

    As a devout Steelers fan, I don't understand why the NFL doesn't allow us to have seven #1 draft picks every year, and an unlimited salary cap.

    we still should have taken a CB in the 4th.Tampa was available. McCormick would have been there later.

      TJ TAMPA ONLY PLAYS COVER 2! Every single casual Steeler fan is saying the same thing and yall don't even know WE DON'T RUN C2! Tampa would be Levi Wallace in our system. Why you think he dropped sooooo far??? He isn't a scheme fit for non-cover 2 defenses. Smfh.
