    I suggest looking into the Good on You website! It is really helpful in looking for more ethical and sustainable brands, as they rate brands based on labour, the impact on the environment and animals. Their app is especially useful in exposing brands who green-wash themselves to appear more attractive to those who care about ethical fashion!

      I’ve heard a lot about Good On You, though will say I’ve not looked into it much. How does it pull the information, so you know? I know some AU brands which are very eco friendly but don’t share a lot of that info on their website have gotten bad reviews despite using GOTS cotton etc etc so I try to do my own research where i can 😊

    I'm so glad you're talking about ethical & sustainable brands! Thanks for sharing. Brands you might also like are Sezane (French brand, ships internationally), and People Tree. I've also been very impressed by the quality of Matt Bernson shoes.

      @mademoisellejaime  5 лет назад

      Thanks so much Christina, I'll be checking those brands out. I wasn't aware Sezane was sustainable (I believe I'd read somewhere that it wasn't?) so I'll have to look into that for sure, as I adore their knitwear

      Gabriela Roman they’re not listed as ethical on the Good On You app. So I don’t think they are. That includes Doen , Cuyana, and other touted sustainable brands that are popular.

    Great video! Really appreciate all the research and the example pieces that you showed ☺️ I recently branched out and bought a blue cotton midi dress from Christy dawn and it’s lovely. Super fast shipping and the fabric is beautiful. Lots of great brands on my radar now! Thanks Jamie!

    Great video. You have hit on some great brands. One great South African based ethical brand is Jane Sews. I have two of their cropped t-shirts. They make great stuff. I have my eye on some of their leather goods and they ship internationally.

      I just checked out their website and these are so many incredible items - I especially love their shoes (and they seem quite reasonably priced, too!). Thank you so much for introducing me to this brand, I can't wait to learn more about them :)

    Surprisingly my Dad was the first person in my family to get on this train, he still has his 'milk bottle' jacket and has had it for, wow, maybe 10 years? I always feel happy when I see items, of all sorts, made from recyclables you would never guess.

To be completely honest i have never worn anything that fits me so well adn makes me feel so feminine and comfortable :) they are a lingerie and offer some clothes (flares, and bandaeu) but I recommend the flares and lingerie side of it :)

    How do you keep collars on blazers, jackets and shirts clean besides wearing collared shirts or scarves? Especially for light coloured blazers and jackets?

    • @mademoisellejaime
      @mademoisellejaime  5 лет назад +1

      I find that naturally, they will discolour slightly over time, especially if it's lighter colour. I think avoiding wearing fragrance/makeup that reacts with fabric is a good one. I know that the aluminium in some deodorants can cause discolouration in the underarms of tops etc so I just try to avoid those. Dry cleaning occasionally is also a great way to keep them looking fresh x

    Please don't mislead the narrative about sustainability. Its not "all about how long you keep them in your wardrobe". If that is the case, hoarders are the most sustainable people. Its about buying less first and foremost. Next, its about how goods are made. An Everlane tshirt causes less damage than one made in a sweatshop but it is still made from materials extracted from earth. Not buying is the most sustainable option. Sustainable fashion has become a capitalistic monster where bloggers buy excess amount of clothing every season and throw it out the next to replace it with more. Please watch My Green Closet for some education on a subject you seem to talk about.

    • @mademoisellejaime
      @mademoisellejaime  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks so much for taking the time to leave me a comment. I think you may have misunderstood the intent of what I said; to clarify, what I was trying to say is that it's better when shopping for your wardrobe to make smart, considered decisions, and buy only the things that you are going to wear over and over again. Even if you're shopping from an ethical/sustainable brand, if you only wear the item once before you decide to part with it, it's just as unsustainable as a fast fashion purchase. In fact, it's kinda replacing your shopping habits at fast fashion stores with ethical/sustainable stores. I hope that makes a little bit more sense. Obviously the best thing we can do is buy less, to reduce the overall impact on the planet, but it takes a long time to change consumer behaviour. Mindset rarely changes overnight, and it's hard to change ingrained habits straight away - crash dieting is a great example of this! I think it's really important to talk about making wiser choices where we can - intention is a good thing, and leads to actionable change. And I totally agree, Verena's channel is an EXCELLENT resource for anyone who wants to learn more about ethical/sustainable fashion. Thanks again for your comment!
