  • Happy New Year!!
Okay, I know that was two weeks ago, but I'm kicking off 2024's videos with a sewing tutorial for these super easy fantasy outfit pants. This pattern is tailored for slim mini. It can be found in the new Minifee BOY section of my site's pattern archive, too!
    Download it on this page:

This doll is not a Minifee, but is an older Magic Time body. The similarities between Magic Time dolls and older Minifees are pretty impressive, so anything I make for him will fit Fairyland dolls just fine :) They're almost identical in measurements!
I've been working on this doll a lot lately, so you'll be seeing this whole customization project over the next couple months as I get back into the swing of sewing, sculpting, and crafting.

    Happy sewing!

WONDERFUL to see you making videos in 2024! All the BEST!
What fabric are you using for these fantasy pants? Looks gorgeous! 🤩

Thank you! :) This is a lightweight cotton calico. I wanted something that looked a little rustic without being as coarse as a homespun cotton so it would scale better for dolls. I felt like the texture of this one worked well for the job.

The silhouette reminds me of a pair of pants from Pattern Magic: Stretch Fabrics. I'm more confident with woven fabric though, so I've never made it.

Stretch fabrics are a real challenge. I love how they drape, but I'm not as big a fan of how tough it can be to sew them!

Very cool! Would a blanket stitch work to hand sew the lower parts? Theoretically it could help prevent fraying?

It definitely would! I considered doing it but my wrists dislike hand sewing, so I try to limit it in my own work.

What settings for the zigzag do you use? like stitch lengths wise? I've tried to use the zigzag functions on my machine multiple times but it always seems to skip stitches and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I keep mine pretty short, usually about a 1.5mm stitch length. I do notice that I get a lot of skipped stitches with a zigzag any time my machine needs to be cleaned or the needle needs to be replaced, not sure if that helps? Changing the needle is usually my go-to for fixing skipped stitches.
