Can you help a newbie figure out non-talking head videos? I am starting a new business as a remodeler and cabinetmaker and would like to record my journey into business and my work. But I don't know how to record myself solo when I'm constantly moving around and there are close-up details I also need to explain. Probably need lots of B-rolls, but how in the world do I do that solo when I can't sit at a desk and look at a camera.
Hi bro. What is the best lighting for RUclips video shooting under $250 from Amazon? If possible, what kind of vertical lighting did you use in this video? Thank you.
I got a D in maths at school and have always had an aversion to tech stuff, I'm basically an artist. When I first saw the dashboard for Davinci editing software it looked like the cockpit of a 747 aircraft. I just switched off. Then one day I just knew I had to learn editing and went to a basic YT tutorial for Davinci, I committed to 4 hours a day for one week learning like a baby from step one. I'm now an expert in the Davinci program and can almost do it with my eyes shut. It makes a massive difference to my videos. If I can do it, anyone can!
I can honestly say, Kevin, that during the past month or so since I've been watching your channel and taking your advice I have gained over 9,000 subscribers and I have now become monetized. AS someone who came from traditional media and now transitioning into this "not-so-new-media" format, your insights and knowledge have really helped me. I can't seriously thank you enough. I know that there is a long way to go and that it is a work in progress, but seriously, thanks!
DUDE! Congrats on your growth and getting monetized. Really means a lot that you shared what you did. Glad my vids helped along the way too. Keep creating!
Kevin I’ve been watching your videos for some time now. I created my channel, got a plan, uploaded my first video and continue to learn from you. I got a list of contents but the editing is really testing me. Thank you for keeping us informed through our journey.

Hi Kevin with the German name Kolbe, I never knew that it's possible to choose an alternative audio track until you talked about it. I've checked German, but I don't like it and returned instantly to your original voice. Btw: I would like to give you a big compliment. Well I’m giving it a go. I’ve been watching a lot of youtube how to channels, however you’re the first channel I subscribed to. Your explanations, voice and general presentation resonates with me. Thanks You!
I love these videos! You have so much information to share. I have been toying with starting my own channel for a long time and when i started researching how to make it happen your videos were the first i watched. I love how you explain all this stuff its very easy to understand. You have inspired me to keep learning and lit a fire under my butt so to speak. 😊
Salut de France 👋🇫🇷 Great news about the dubbing. That will mean I can recommend my channel to my french family and friends. I always glean something from your videos Kevin. Merci et Joyeux Noël 🌟
I am a Spanish speaker, but I have always heard you (and many other English-speaking creators) in their original language. When the channels started to be automatically dubbed into Spanish, I really hated it, because the voice is nothing like the original and the intonation is far from realistic; However, I must recognize that this will greatly expand the scope for people who only master their language or do not master (as in my case) German, or French, etc. It will surely be polished and changes the game quite a bit on RUclips.
Thanks for the subcribe button watermark !!! Just started my channel and your videos have been an inspiration and tremendous resource. Looking forward to leaning more from you 😁
👍💯 X100..... I've been sub'd for quite a while, and always look forward to your advice. I'm "self-teaching" on all aspects of "RUclips", so I really appreciate the videos you bring us.
I was going to ask you how to do this on my comedy channel. The trailer parkerz. You answered it in this video1 Thank you brother! I did it an a miracle it worked!!!
Not sure the comment but people subscribe for different reasons. Consider how you watch RUclips. Do you subscribe to every channel you watch? When you do, what makes you sub?
It's pretty interest. I browsered your videos. Many of them are only couple viewers even 5 months ago in your 7th year as a youtuber. I truly admire your persistence in continuing for seven years despite having only a small audience. Most subscribers are done these 4 months?
Syncing audio: I record outside a lot. I use the phone mic for a reference track and backup AND record on a separate recorder with a lav mic. A couple of good claps, a dog clicker or anything that makes a very short loud sound makes a very distinctive trace on the audio tracks, making syncing them later in post an absolute breeze. Just line them up, job done.
Hi Kevin . I'm a new subscriber. I'm not Tech Savvy. I'm 60 y.o . I'm hoping to do a crash course on some of u're content to start my channel before the yr ends.

What was the key change you made, or realization, that bumped up your viewership as well as number of subscribers? Thank you again for putting out this content
Super awesome with the auto dubbing. I'm excited to see that. Thanks for the great tips. Regarding the use of a ring light, what kind of low budget lighting do you recommend? I wear glasses too :)
havent watched a video yet but you have my sub already. Your channel description is my self almost to a "T" i have an autistic child who constantly tells me to become a youtuber...lol yeah right!
@KevinKolbe ok didn't know that, as I just went davinci from the start and looked up how to edit. Only found out how to auto sync about month ago and makes it so much quicker.
Love your channel and expertise. I am thinking about starting my own channel, should my first video just be about me and the channel? Or, should I just start a topic and run with it?
Awesome info Kevin. I also came from television, 25 years with Golf Channel/NBC Sports post audio production. While there, I didn’t do video, at all. Now at 63, I freelance from my home studio. I use FC Pro, Protools & Logic. I have several RUclips channels. But, I have so much more to learn. Thanks again for your education and advice. Questions: Do you think a channel devoted to making audio for video better is a good idea? Or, do we have enough of that already? Thanks for your answer. Peace ✌️
Hey there to a former TV'er! Re: your channel idea. If that's what your passionate about, go for it. It's doubtful to find a niche that doesn't have some comp. Variety is a good thing too.
Your channel is 😊 helpful. I'm thinking about trying it, maybe! But have no idea where to start, make a subscribe button, that is great info. I was curious about thumb nails, now I know what to do!! Right niw Im researching and taking notes. Just wanted to tell you thank you😊
Hi Kevin, this is my second attempt to send a question. The first time it didn’t show up in the comments. Anyway, I want to start a RUclips channel, but I have two main subjects. One is on doing a van conversion and the second is on lifestyle/living for over 40, 50, 60 crowd. The van conversion stuff is directly related to the other content as I’m doing it because of where I’m at in life. What I’m unsure of is combining these two subjects on one channel or if I should have separate channels. Thank you in advance for your help! James from Des Moines WA.
I would never start two channels when just starting out. Heck, even after doing it a bit, I'd really think through starting a second channel. Just start. Do both. Do a combination. Be open to tweaking what is and what's not working. Just create.
I just posted my latest video, and it's generated another 5 subscribers in one day. That's a good boost to my morale ...lol again, thanks for you ... and your inspiration to keep trying. One video at a time...
Kevin. Thanks for the info--great stuff! I can't find the "Subscribe" button that you are giving away. I really like it. Thanks. PS I'm 68. Pretty close to your age. Go Seniors.
Auto dubbing is useful, I recall there's also the option to add your own audio/language track; saw it mentioned in a video. I'm not 100% sure on the 'how to' since I haven't completed my research.
@@KevinKolbe I couldn't find the video i saw originally, but the name of the option is Multi-Language Audio Tracks, everything pointed out that its a restricted feature at the moment. There's also the possibility that it has been merged with/into the AI dubbing feature, I'll try to find more info on it.
@Anderxson_pov we found a solution about to be recording soon. I gotta use Adobe podcast. It works so well my kids can screen, for dogs can bark and I can blast music. Just takes allot of extra steps.
3 strikes within a 90 day period is the result of channel deletion. Unfortunately I had to learn about that rule after my 1st copyright strike. 😅 very important lesson learned.
Thank you for this tutorial, I’m a beginner on RUclips and it’s very helpfull. Do you have any suggestions for teleprompter? I record videos on my laptop. Ciao from Italy.
Kevin, great as usual. I film most of my video interviews in a studio where I can control everything, but it limits this to local talent. It’s time for me to expand geographically my circle of interview candidates and add a podcast service for remote interviews. But after those Pandemic years of zoom and teams meeting, I am remined of the loss of quality in video / audio performance. On the other hand, a professional service like Riverside has its own issues. It’s better-quality recording but is subject still to the user’s camera, mic, computer storage and at the corporate level it’s also subjected to being blocked. Am I over thinking this? Help…
Hi bro. What is the best lighting for RUclips video shooting under $250 from Amazon? If possible, what kind of vertical lighting did you use in this video? Thank you.
Auto-dubbing? It seems to be a game changer. In India we have 15 major languages. If you add the numerous dialects each has, the combination will be more than 250. Auto-dub, welcome to lingua-puzzle land. 😂😂 BTW, English apart, I can speak two Indian languages fluently.
Do you have the DJI Pocket 3 MIMO APP.? I live in a very small village in a non-English speaking country (Brazil), so I have to be very, very careful what I connect to any of my devices since there is NO BEST BUY in Brazil and I am a one-man Tech Support team. I heard I could use it to start and stop video recording on the DJI Pocket 3 from a distance......Also, thanx for the "Auto Dubbing" heads up. I will definitely use that for Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish. 🤔
@@KevinKolbe Thanx! You are the Man, so if you feel comfortable with it, that's all I need. Time to video my puppet crew: The Host and Marcus & Miguel😎

Does RUclips penelize you if your channel was restarted and went in a new direction (similar as old, but more defined)? This channel didn't create for 2 years while I was going through some hard start. Then I started creating on this one again :) ...
Nope. Remember RUclips is all about the viewer and their experience first. Even though I didn't stop creating, I did refocus my "who" in August which helped RUclips know who I was creating for.
Hi Kevin.. thanks for the great content!! I'm 63.. been working at gaining some skills with this stuff over the past 6 years and your channel has been very helpful. My first upload back in 2018 was a documentary I wrote and directed for Discovery Canada about 25 years ago. I received a copyright strike right out of the gate. (I was mortified/terrified.. lol) An extensive search revealed nothing about a current owner of the program. Seems everything has been bought and sold a dozen times over the years. How might I go about getting this program to the screen? And.. does "One World Productions" mean anything to you? Seems like some nebulous copyright vacuum.. (the name popped up in a couple of searches with no link to an actual company ). Thanks :)
I started a RUclips channel 3 1/2 years ago when I was working full time & the channel was small. 6 months ago I retired and have been working on it a lot and the channel was starting to grow. Yesterday I lost about 300 subscribers. Why did this happen?
ALLOWED? yea or nay Can we upload videos to our channels already published to channels operated by others and vice-a-versa without skirting or violating the rules?
Hello Sir,I have an enquiry. In the RUclips Studio app, there is a selection option under 'Analytics'. When we make selections in the search, results with 'low, high or medium' volume comes up. Does it mean that there are less people searching for these topics or do they mean that these are topics that have low/medium/high competition? Thank you.
Soooo, I've had my channel for many years now and still getting views each month from previous vids, despite leaving the channel for a year or two at 800 subscribers. Now I'm uploading again with a very different niche, I've already uploaded a few vids, but would I be better off just starting a brand new channelfor the new hobby? Thinking about from a reach/algo point of view.
Good question. Chances are a lot of those subs may have moved on. You can see how the views break down in your analytics. If so, I'd just keep posting there and see what happens. You can always unlist or private videos you feel you don't want there anymore.

Thanks for all the tips what do you think about faceless Chanel do they have a chance ?
Sure. It could be harder to produce based on what the channel is about but yes, they can work.
@ let’s say in the narration niche , have some tips for those ? ❤️
Do you know how I can get rid of background noise. My heater/ac really messes up my audio
Final Cut Pro has an amazing feature that will help with that. I cover it in this video: ruclips.net/video/PJSM510Jyjo/видео.htmlsi=7ytZljNr3H5ILpKw

Check out the Elgato Prompter. I have it just don't use it. (Affl) amzn.to/4heh9kq
And hey from the US
@ Thank you. It’s too expensive for my budget. Actually I had in mind an app or something like that. Ciao!

Kevin, where are the RUclips rules displayed? I haven't started a channel yet.

My gut is RUclips will use the most prominent language in an area with a lot of options.
I do have the app but haven't used it much.
@@KevinKolbe Thanx! You are the Man, so if you feel comfortable with it, that's all I need. Time to video my puppet crew: The Host and Marcus & Miguel😎
How can i remove partially block video removed and trim out segment is grayed out and for the music is grayed out i been trying I can't find a way to remove it
New subscriber I just started a you tube channel.
Nice!
@@KevinKolbe awesome!!! I am completely redoing my channel and hope to have it all done in Jan .. Thank you for always being awesome
Thank YOU bro!
Hi Kevin.. thanks for the great content!! I'm 63.. been working at gaining some skills with this stuff over the past 6 years and your channel has been very helpful. Thanks :)
When you get a strike, you can appeal it to RUclips.
@@KevinKolbe Sure.. thank you for your response.
I’ve just started a channel it’s so hard to remember everything maybe I’m just putting myself under pressure but do you have any advice 👍
How can I start my video with some graphic for few seconds
Add graphics as the first thing when you edit.
I started a RUclips channel 3 1/2 years ago when I was working full time & the channel was small. 6 months ago I retired and have been working on it a lot and the channel was starting to grow. Yesterday I lost about 300 subscribers. Why did this happen?
Occasionally, RUclips does bot and fake account purges. If you lost that much in one day, chances are that was why.
ALLOWED? yea or nay
Can we upload videos to our channels already published to channels operated by others and vice-a-versa without skirting or violating the rules?
Downloading and publishing someone else content without their permission is stealing and goes against RUclips TOS.
How can I remove Active Community Guidelines strikes pleas I need help
You can appeal them with RUclips.
@@KevinKolbe I'm afraid to lose my channel hmm
@KevinKolbe awesome, thanks! I'll keep on plugging on. 😁
