My dog who is a shih tzu mix as well , hates grooming, he’s sensitive on his feet and just over all is difficult too. This groomer is very knowledgeable and is understanding. You go girl !
Pet Parents: This is why consistently grooming your pets and finding a groomer that is willing to work with your dog is important! We get to know your animals and what they like, don't like, their anatomy, etc. Groomers: Don't be discouraged if you run into a dog who has issues with grooming. What caused/ is causing the pet's issue and how can you fix it or work around it? Ask questions, use your knowledge and your tools!
UPDATE: My last groom with Rocky was this past week... He and his family are moving away 💔 and I will miss them so dearly. Rocky is SO special to me and he's really reminded me why I love doing what I do. He also got his teeth professionally cleaned by a specialist and is what we think was making him so uncomfortable that I couldn't groom him the time before last.
So informative! I usually get bored from watching grooming videos but your videos are the only ones i can watch the whole way through just because you give good information🙌🏻 also, where is your long sleeve top from?😍 x
Hi. Our pom constantly tries to bite the groomer or her equipment. It's really difficult. Last time I had to stay and hold the leash on the pole, because he wasn't having any of it. He can be the sweetest boy and then the devil himself.
My baby is 13 yrs old. He's been groomed since he was 5 months old. His back end is so sensitive now. My groomer told me he became aggressive. I took him to our vet and ....turns out...he's getting old 😭.
Exactly! I mentioned in the video that I don't check Rocky's teeth and as of late he's been more grumpy than usual which led to me not being able to groom him... So I dug a little deeper and checked out his mouth and it turns out his teeth were in dire need. He's all healed up and ready for another go at it so fingers crossed!!
Excellent question. Yes, we have turned away dogs and cats before. It's very circumstantial. Usually we draw the line if the animal has potential to really hurt themselves or us. We will typically gather as much information from the parent as possible if there is a potential problem. If we've tried everything and we can't get anywhere, depending on the situation, over time we try to gain the dogs trust. If we really can't make progress we recommend having their animal sedated/ see the vet for whatever we couldn't do. (Everything meaning, treats, muzzle, slowing down the grooming, taking different approaches to whatever it maybe they dislike).
@@magdalenagrooms8965 thank you, I have recently just had two aggressive dogs in, one I was absolutely mortified and so upset over because he looked awful but there wasn't anything else I could do, he was so agressive, I put a muzzle, treats and took it slow but there wasn't anything I could do. It also sent me back because it was my first groom in my new groom room after doing my course and he was extremely matted and aggressive. The next one I had yesterday, was better but extremely matted and I felt awful, do you charge for matting also? Thanks Elissa
@@truffle123100 Oh my goodness. Sounds like a nightmare. Yeah some dogs are definitely set in their ways. If it's too dangerous turn them away. Also listening to that "gut feeling", I know when I don't listen to it I regret it. Yes! We do charge for matting, animals being over due and sometimes even handling fees.

Thank you so much! There's usually some sort of reasoning behind an animal's behavior and I think people tend to forget that sometimes.
Well done and good job working with this little grumpy fella...respected his issues 👏
Thank you!! Every dog has a story.
I love the info about not clippering the feet! It's such a sensitive area for so many dogs. Thanks, great video!
It really is, especially the front feet. You're welcome! Thanks for watching.
Aww his little grumpy face tho, I love him!
Lol he is a cutie.

When is enough, enough? Where do you draw the line with aggression? Do you ever turn dogs down?

Great Job!
Is it a bichon x shih tzu?
My dog would never sit this still 😭
Lol some never do but we still love them!!
Not a professional groomer , he / she is not that aggressive
He's not bad to work on once I figured out his triggers
Give him a kick if he is aggressive
I hope you don't have pets.
