Good video. One of the pitfalls - given the hundreds of tracks available in DAWs - is the temptation (and I'm owning up to a personal failing here) to pack in counter melodies and harmonies all over the place - often obscuring the main melodic line. Don't clog up what you intend to be the hook, or chorus, with excessive over-instrumentation! I've recently been going over a lot of my old tracks, taking out anything unnecessarily elaborate, and the results have sounded so much better. As far as thinking up melodies is concerned (and, most importantly, remembering them) - keep your smartphone handy with a voice recorder app installed for when inspiration strikes.
Helpful summary of some basic concepts! It would be even better to demonstrate how these can be applied. And maybe an additional thought for a video: I always struggle how to create and prepare music for a singer, what are the do's and don'ts to make it easier for a singer? Obviously the key/range is relevant, time to breath, but what about the melody, should it be somwhere in the background? Or never? Should there be elements for orientation like little fill in between the vocals , etc...
Great as always. Could you one day make a video on how to use pads? Should they be chords (copied from eg. piano), some of the chords, single notes and should they be layered? I think this is difficult.
I thought this video had absolutely wonderful information. Thank you!
Really very useful information Thank you George

I completely agree, sometimes less is definitely more!
