For curious listeners, from what I understand, ‘Mr Roboto’ is part of a rock opera about a man named Kilroy. He gets put in prison by people who hate rock and roll and escapes by overpowering a Roboto prison guard and hiding inside it.
He’s thanking the robot for safe passage, then at the end of the song, he breaks free announcing, “I’m Kilroy!”
This is a grossly short explanation, but I thought it would be cool to share! Love me some Styx!!!

Yup, and Styx largely avoids performing it because they hate the entire album. It was a concept album spearheaded by DeYoung, and the rest of them weren't really on board with the whole thing.
Dennis Deyoung still performs it solo. He split from the band a while back.
From what I understand, they no longer play Mr. Robot because it's Dennis De Young's song. And as he is no longer with the band they don't play it. I also have heard on VH1 Behind The Music that the rest of the band strongly dislikes the song. Playing the full concept album while doing an opening slot for Ted Nugent was seen as a pretty bad decision.

I liked how immediately Arin turned to just exclusively using that one snake-head arm. Rotating all the way round to lightly spit at a foe, when the sub was literally in the maw of it's crab claw...
For those wondering, the story of Mr. Roboto it kinda is like this:
So this guy named Killroy (a stage name) is a musician who lives in a world where music is illegal (in the future), so he gets caught performing music and gets put in a prison in Japan. He manages to escape his prison by using the outer shell of one of the robot prison guards to disguise himself. So he is thanking the robot for helping him escape his prison and do music.
It's a super dope story, I recommend reading the lyrics because its so cool.

Just gotta hop in here, as a Styx fan, to say they don’t perform Mr Roboto anymore because they kinda hate that song lol they didn’t like it then & they don’t like it now.
Dennis Deyoung, the lead singer who wrote the song, was like the only member of the band who liked it. And he’s not been in the group since the 1990’s. Styx doesn’t perform any songs from Kilroy Was Here anymore.
IIRC, they actually got booed offstage because of that song, at least once.
When I was a kid in 1997, I went to see Styx live in DTE Energy Concert Theater in Michigan and the Red Wings won the Cup while they were playing, so people cheered really loud. Styx walked off the stage and everyone was like 'WTF?' then they came back out wearing Red Wings jerseys.

I spent about a month in Japan, and I don't want to generalize, but in my experience Japanese people were super polite and friendly people and I loved it. Although it almost felt like they apokigized an uncomfortable amount. Like if I ordered food and the order got messed up, they were like, extremely sorry and I wanna be like "oh no it's cool, it's not a huge deal or anything, please don't act like it was a huge failure or nothing like that"

Styx didn't play Mr. Roboto because Dennis DeYoung isn't with them anymore so they don't play a lot of the songs he sang anymore, and Kilroy Was Here was DeYoung's passion project that NONE of the band understood nor liked.
But now they are
Here's the thing: A lot of actors who speak a different language in Western movies or television that are supposed to come from a different country do so with a Western accent. People from those countries can tell that they are not originally from there. But since the movie is marketed towards a primarily English speaking audience, they figure that we won't know the difference. It's the same with Shin Godzilla. The Japanese might not be able to tell that she isn't an American born English speaker, but people from America can. Arin is acting like this is something unique, but it happens all the time. We just don't realize it.

Oh, my gosh, Arin. You're supposed to have the crab claws next to each other, then have the snake outside of those with the penguin between those, at this stage of the game. How do you not know that about this game no one has ever played including me?
I love how unnecessarily bad Arin is at this game by only using the snakes that deal the least amount of close up damage because he thinks they look cool.
Watching Arin use the snakes instead of the claws on nearby enemies raised my salt levels 😞

Somebody probably said this already but I'll say it anyway, Mr. Roboto is actually the final song in the album it's from, Kilroy Was Here! And the album has a story that got a movie made from it; it's all about some future 1984-esque world where Rock has been outlawed by the new government as it rose up. "Kilroy" is the name of one of the characters, a rockstar imprisoned for accidentally killing a supporter of the new government while defending himself during an attack on one of his shows. "Mr. Roboto" is the name of these security robots used to patrol the city and the prison, and by the end of the movie Kilroy escapes prison by shutting down a Roboto and using its armor to disguise himself as one of them and escape, where he then put on a performance as a form of resistance. The "Mr. Roboto" song is the culmination of that performance and Kilroy explaining who he really is behind the mask and his whole story.
It's probably a little weird and lame, but the music is fine and now you know the story behind it if you didn't already!

At 18:36, For those curious, as far as I can poetically translate form the lyrics of Mr. Roboto, it's a song about some guy who got into trouble, so he disguised himself as some animatronic to run away and hide and make some living helping people as what he's disguised as, before he was found and forced into more trouble. To which he then realizes that technology in general has just ruined his life and it sucks, but since he did live well as that animatronic helping people in some way, he thanks technology at the same time for giving him that one good phase of his life.

okay re: the mr. roboto discussion, kilroy was here was about a future where music has been outlawed and at what was essentially the last rock concert the front man (kilroy) was arrested and put into a prison run by these robots. at the start of the album kilroy is inspired to break out of jail and does so by killing (or w/e you can't really kill a robot) and dismantling a robot guard and using its parts as a disguise to escape. so the song is him apologizing to the robot he destroyed and thanking it for """letting""" him use its parts. the album is Wild and i love it
