I think I can agree with this. The truck manufacturers got rid of the clutch and made it so any brain-dead zombie can drive for a living.
I've seen plenty of stick shift drivers blocking the fuel island and on the side of the road plenty. Not just automatics.

I think if I were starting out today with a class A CDL, I'd want to work for old Swifty Swift. The expectations of everyone else on the road would be so low, that I'd be looking good.
That's basically what swift is 85% of em are newer drivers starting off that's why I always give em a hand or extra paitence when I can

For all the fuel island blockers, put a padlock on one of his doors and let him enjoy when he needs to open it later.
just put a 6x6 in front of trailer tire pasenger side/ that will get him shooting some britches.
Place a Quarter over the hole on the emergency gladhand on the trailer. Then reapply the truck gladhand to the trailer . Usually takes a driver a while to figure out why his trailer brakes will not release

In Germany, if pulled over by police for inspection, if you're driving a truck and you're wearing flipflops (or any open shoes) behind the wheel, you risk a fine. Belgium, France and Spain go even further: you can get fined for driving a car while wearing flipflops, slippers, or even when bare feet, too. It's a safety issue: your flipflop can hang behind a pedal, your foot can slip and slide off the brake pedal. It's simply no good.
I always drove barefooted, never got hassled for it.
Don't think its enforced here..but the rule here in the US read wear shoes. But get the certain officer and you may find out.

@@MrSamadolfo Yep. Been driving 21 years and I was a little surprised they only focused on the truck crash number. I'm sure it's not just the trucks causing the accidents. Normally, the DOTs of the States put up total crash numbers.
Also, last time I was through there it read 47 so I'm guessing it's at least 50 by now.
@@sarcasticguy4311 yes, i have only seen 'total crashes for the year' IOWA is really good about that, i noticed the number has been much lower the last 2 years, i think only because theres less vehicles out on the road now due to 'The Reset' 😊

He's not lying, Ohio flashing sign on i80 says "LEAVE ROOM TO STOP, 50 TRUCK ACCIDENTS IN WORKZONE". It's at the beginning of the work zone, because of the crashes this year involving trucks in that specific work zone. It's not the same as the "200 crashes this year in the state" signs.

Company safety guy called me into his office about a week later to ask about that, and I told him... man was dying of laughter, but still had to give me a warning for that one lol

or brake checking a 80s 1 to 2 ton truck. they dont stop very fast and where not built for curent stoping distamces.
my f350 servive truck, reinforced chasis, bull gaurds front and back, dual 37 miltary run flats, weighs 15k empty is always getting brake checked or cut off. it would cut right thru these aluminum cars and keep going.
its not if i will end up crushing a soda can just a matter of when.

Everything you mentioned is criminal, and if the cops show up and review the surveillance video, you'll be arrested like the one guy I saw. He pulled the fifth wheel pin, then parked, driver dumped the trailer, cops showed up, watched video and the guy was arrested. Be safe.

I would see if the keys were in it and move it. Better yet, just park it somewhere in the truck stop and pull up and get fuel and when the idiot comes out looking for it just act like there was no truck there are I just pulled up.

Not cool to block the fuel lines, but it's not wise to run your mouth like that either. He's lucky he was cursing at some softie and not someone who would send his ass to an ICU.
Honestly I would allways grab a soda, sometimes food when I stoped for fuel, but, you really gotta watch your time cause you take to long your gonna screw up someone else. Most cases, 5 minutes was about all it would take, the guy behind me would still be fueling when I jumped in my truck truck and took off
There's a certain language all commercial drivers speak. It's called 'trucker.' Not all commercial drivers can speak it. Until all of us can, be prepared for long waits at the fuel islands across the land.
Its very doable to get grub and bathroom but sometimes all the stalls are full or theres a line for food, it helps if you regular visit the stop, then you have a better idea what to expect, also on the weekends you have to share the stop with car and bus travelers

Gotta back ya up there, FedEx, Swift, Amazon Prime are tops. Last two contend for first in any category you identify as failed operator mishaps, Fed Ex takes first in catastrophic wrecks, when they TC, it's devastating in the magnitude of destruction they leave. Heavy wrecker operator 42 years, I don't state this based on experience I've witnessed in my primary area of responsibility alone. I've been summoned hundreds of miles to assist with recovering wrecks, in the most horrific carnage imaginable, as a result of single or multiple tractor trailer units. FedEx is ever present, and as I go along the highway, other firms storage locations, dropping a TC at FedEx a facility from wreck scene, or recovery assistance, lastly my area produces enough FedEx work to retire on. All the best.

I have the solution for Swift - Put doors on both ends of the trailer and add a 5th wheel to the back. Then to turn around, you just unhook, back the tractor out and hook up to the backside.

So funny enough the swift doing the U Turn was me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 . And as you can see that’s the guy at my door was the security guard who was basically telling me I could make the turn. He told me it was the only way for me to go back to get the load. I literally had to prove to him that U Turn was impossible for a sleeper. Yeah I could of unhooked but I had blocked the live load line for too long dealing with that asshole security guard. Just backed up and left then came back 🤣🤣🤣 but yes that was me 👋🏼

I lived in Europe for over six years and I’ve seen those truckers do amazing things with their superior backing skills with a trailer. The majority of them are a straight truck with a double pivot point trailer, but I’ve also seen guys with a day cab pulling two trailers back them up like a boss. I’m sure there’s plenty of guys here that can do the same, so let’s see videos of them in a challenge.

Easy fix for fuel island blockers is about a pound of fifth wheel grease under their door handle. No real harm but they will spend the next six months cleaning up the random black spots on everything!
Since I’m a nice guy if you get grease on your clothes just use original GOJO without pumice and a tooth brush to remove stain, then wash normally.
