I'm glad to see Chappers and the Captain back reviewing these LTD's. I have always liked how well they can play a jam together and then individually sound so different. But the rapport and the humor is the real reason I watch. There is no greater duo for guitar reviews on the net!
Exactly what I thougt. Lee evolved to a conscious tone machine. It starts to get hard to tell whether he's inspired by an instrument or he's just at the top of his game. Cheers!
As someone who purchased one of these and two days later returned it! They sound nice and full, but the neck is criminally small, so if you're a slightly above average sized lad, this guitar will make you feel as though you're about to snap the neck off at any minute! Otherwise, perfect for anyone who wants to look like a cool QOTSA reject and have a blast while doing it!
Lee, do yourself a HUGE favor, and buy the Jane's Addiction albums 'Nothing's Shocking' and 'Ritual De Lo Habitual'. Both of those albums are masterpieces.
I don't know if it was a one-off or what, but Jackson made a 10 string V once, where the high E and B were single strings, and the D to Low E were doubled.
Lovely intro today guys. Aside from Jane’s Addiction, Perry’s side gig, Porno for Pyros was always a favorite. ESP Exhibition, Custom, Snapper etc are obviously some of the finest crafted guitars ever made. Tune your guitars with 12th fret harmonics, then fret the 12 to check intonation, this will gauge string life. A 12 string is cumbersome to tune, but worth every note. Still adore the Rickenbacker vids you did years ago. Anderton’s must be amazing to visit. Thanks for everything you do guys!!
nice to see Chappers back, really great video, and Lee is sounding amazing again. Still want to see you guys do a video on which guitar will balance best on a finger :) {EDIT} LEE PLAY MORE 12 STRINGS, SOUNDED AMAZING!
Very unique-looking guitars. It's a breath of fresh air; I always love seeing guitars that aren't "S", "T", or "LP"-types. In terms of sound, the I only liked the Duncan in the bridge. The other positions sounded a bit anemic imo. My guess as to why they haven't sold well is the line's name. "Xtone" sounds like a bad import amp, a bass bridge replacement, or a Line 6 Variax clone. It definitely doesn't sound like a normal, classic-inspired guitar line.
I own two of these, earlier models with a bigsby and the duncan jazz/jb set, and I love them. The play so nice and sound lovely. It's amazing the value you can get from ESP LTD guitars
The sound Lee had just in the begining of the video was hands down some of the absolute best sounds I ever heard come out of a guitar. Wonderfully played!
I had one of these black 12 string Xtones for around 6 years and it was a great sounding, beautiful guitar all around. I sold it because I rarely played it. The only thing I would do is change out a bridge for one that has saddles for each string. It only has 6 saddles so intonation is not perfect, and can be kind of a pain to tune.
Rob is totally right, I bought an xtone about a decade ago, and it was totally my gateway to classic guitars out of metal(core...) stuff. Now I play my Epiphone century more than anything else.
@16:45 Closest I can think of is the BC Rich Bich. 10 string where the E and A are single strings, D to E are doubled. Weird looking guitar but sounds pretty awesome. Mark Agnesi did a GotD with one a while ago.
I didn't get Chappers' comment about the flat neck. You'd expect a flat neck not to fret out with big bends up the neck. It's the low radius necks that cause that problem.
Love the Guitars....love the sounds....the style....and the colours....and prices....it does look like two gibson have been brought together.....I wonder what people would think if Gibson had built these styles of guitar....
While Lee kind of dissed the Danelectro brand as "Shiffordable" you could tell he really enjoyed playing the 12 string. I have the Dano '59 12 string and I love it. That LTD sounds good too. Dano has Lipstick single coil PU's and the LTD of course has the SD alnico humbuckers. So there is a real difference in the sound.
They are shipping. Also, just as an btw, you can get the same brand guitars in nearly every music store in the world. Maybe your local store has some special going on as well.
The new thumbnail font covers too much of the screen and doesn't make it clear which type of content I'm about to watch. There are only certain segments/hosts I'm interested in, and I end up not watching at all when I cant figure out which ones are which.
I used to have an ESP. They desperately need some new pickups. The rest of the guitar is fine. Upgrade those and you’ve got a solid axe. Glad to see the pickups here are legit.
BC Rich did make a 10 string Bich in the 80s with doubled strings E to G and the B and high E were singles. They go for crazy money now, and were made when Rich made good quality guitars, not the laughable garbage today.
Kinda surprised that Chappers didn’t know about these. Figured he’d know that guy had his own sig from Dillinger Escape Plan. 💁♀️ I personally LOVE these. My dad used to have the 3 tone burst with trem & sold it to one of his buds. Probably one of favorites I’ve ever been so lucky to play.
Hey guys... those Gibson's sound great... ^^ If I didn't just buy a Jackson JS11 in Bright white, I would have considered one as my first guitar. (Thank you guys for recommending the Jackson Dinky at $149.00 from your reviews. ) Cheers both of you from Philadelphia... Kimono Gryphon < 1 Corinthians 15 : 1-4
I always felt Jane's Addiction was a very underrated band. They broke at the same time as G&R's did and helped usher in all the Alt Rock of the nineties. Before them, people always wrote off the high gain as Heavy Metal. Jane's Addiction brought it into the mainstream with music you cannot pigeonhole, something they get no credit for. And Dave Navarro plays acoustics the same way. I've never heard or seen anyone treat an acoustic like a shredder and get away with it as smooth as Dave can. I did'nt think the high gain sound worked with RHCP live, but that album was great. My Friends is towards the top of my list for favorite RHCP songs. Listening to the live performances though, it just sounds out of place.
So is Chappers only gonna do "epic deal" videos on this channel? Or how come the thumbnail "theme" of Chappers videos got unified with "most of the others"?
errr, just gotta throw this out there. LOTS of guys were playing the RIch BIch 10 string (minus 4 strings most of the time) before Mustaine. He used that thing for a couple of years. Maybe you became aware of it through him but he certainly didn't make it famous. When you think of Mustaine and guitars odds are you think of the King V which he also didn't make famous but is known for playing.
I'm glad to see Chappers and the Captain back reviewing these LTD's. I have always liked how well they can play a jam together and then individually sound so different. But the rapport and the humor is the real reason I watch. There is no greater duo for guitar reviews on the net!
Damn Captain your playing sounds awesome in the intro of this video. You can definitely hear the "tone" improvement in your fingers.
The 12 string sounds absolutely immense!
@@redken1962 it does, it makes me want to get one
Exactly what I thougt.
Lee evolved to a conscious tone machine. It starts to get hard to tell whether he's inspired by an instrument or he's just at the top of his game. Cheers!
I'm really digging the silver sparkle one. And, no, it should not have gold hardware.
The X-TONE series is my fav series from any import maker, I have 4 different ones, 2 single cut and 2 double cut, All are great!
As someone who purchased one of these and two days later returned it! The cool thing about Rob contra Pete is he shuts up and let Lee talk before saying something. Not stupid comments all the time.
The captain sounded pretty rad on the 12 string.
Yeah, that intro jam puts me in the mood for some Fun lovin criminals ✌🕶
I don't know if it was a one-off or what, but Jackson made a 10 string V once, where the high E and B were single strings, and the D to Low E were doubled.

Awesome playing chapters and the captain love it
I was just playing on my g1275 doubleneck while this video played in the background. It got me thinking of a shootout of 12 string electrics :)
Glad to see Rob back!!!
I haven't seen a video for a guitar yet that I don't immediately want to buy, and this is no exception!

Aww good chappers is back happy to see you two playing together again
The sound Lee had just in the begining of the video was hands down some of the absolute best sounds I ever heard come out of a guitar. Wonderfully played!
Sounds great. Only thing I didn't like is the headstock shape, but still better than an epiphone
It looks more like a ESP viper had a baby with a Schecter tempest but semi hallow
1 lp video with sir Rob please
Oh wow, never thought I would gas for an ESP..
Played one of these years ago...and it was great. Kinda want a 12 string.
BC Rich used to make a 10 string. E+A singles, DGBE double strings. Stupid amount of switching turned ppl off to be honest.

Think I just bought that 12 string:). Add sparkly chime over some crunchy lines AND I now have some Chappers and Captain DNA to help my playing ;)
Watching this has made me really consider getting one of these 12 strings hollows. Sounds exceptional!
Rob is totally right, I bought an xtone about a decade ago, and it was totally my gateway to classic guitars out of metal(core...) stuff. Now I play my Epiphone century more than anything else.
just wondering - is there a guitar you two don't like? because it can be hard to gauge if everything is great
The best Jane's Addiction album is probably Ritual de lo Habitual, think it was released in about 89 or 90.
Surprised that we didn't see rob in any LP videos
Kyle Gillis I think he only films at Andersons for 1 or 2 days a month so he probably wasn’t there when they were released
@@manceanon7139 he said he was jet lagged in the video, he just got back, presumably from America
Artcore103 ok?
Pleasantly surprised...
Vanilla allergy
I have a plectrum like that too. It once was my brother's.
That silver sparkle is wicked. I'd have one, provided I had the money and shipping to the States wasn't a thing.
These are slick players & lookers IMO. Affordable Josh Homme-esque shaped beater if you will?
If Josh didn't get custom guitars like he does now, he'd totally rock one of these. 12 sounds awesome
it would be awesome to see how that compares to an Epiphone ES-339 and a Gretsch G2655 Streamliner! Those are exactly what I am on the market for.
What amps are each of you playing through? Lee....kicking tone on your first lead break.
Nice Guitar Guys. Can you get the White 6 string in a Left Handed Version? Thanks.
Guys can I ask how u got your hands on these? I live in Canada and cannot find one! But want to buy one so badly!
Im in love with that ivory and gold one. Looks so awsome...
Groovy guitars. Definitely my kind of thing. But I thought this was now the Gibson channel :-)
Although the xtone isn’t seen to be ‘metal’ the guitarist from Dillinger escape plan has a signature edition with an evertune bridge
@16:45 Closest I can think of is the BC Rich Bich. 10 string where the E and A are single strings, D to E are doubled. Weird looking guitar but sounds pretty awesome. Mark Agnesi did a GotD with one a while ago.
9-string from Chapman guitars!
Make it so!
I want a full version of that rendition of House of the Rising Sun. Stellar improv! 👍
more quirky ESPs please. Love them!!
ESP/ LTD guitars are one of those brands that for some reason just never spoke to me. Not sure why because they are nice guitars.
The BIG ugly logo on the head stock always turned me off. You can see that they have resized it for this line.
All the way on the right I see a Zilla cabinet. You're stocking them nowadays?
I didn't get Chappers' comment about the flat neck. You'd expect a flat neck not to fret out with big bends up the neck. It's the low radius necks that cause that problem.
LOL, yeah. He did mention he was jet lagged.
Love the Guitars....love the sounds....the style....and the colours....and prices....it does look like two gibson have been brought together.....I wonder what people would think if Gibson had built these styles of guitar....
Yeah, I could Jam those, Very nice! And they're totally right about the Brand name hindering these sweet axes!
Good video guys... Thanks.. i have tried those guitars and they are great!!!
The question is, does Lee prefer that LTD 12 string or the Danelectro 12 string they demoed a couple years ago.
Rob, thanks for that anxiety spike when you nearly lost the 12-string at the end!!
That’s the knob pattern I asking about the other day on the the Gibson Special and all other Gibson’s with that pattern.
I love these guitars! Desperate to buy one but need to sell some stuff in order to afford it.
12 strings + gain = awesome sauce
Dillinger escape plan
I can't find these for sale in the US, only used.
Great to have the OG duo back together for a video 🤘🏻
These are really beautiful.
I wish I had an Andertons near me!
Yep....! Echo that....!
They are shipping. Also, just as an btw, you can get the same brand guitars in nearly every music store in the world. Maybe your local store has some special going on as well.

I love the silver one. It does not need gold hardware. If I was going to change it from chrome I think black hardware would be sweet.
I fucking love this channel holy shit
I ESPecially like the silver flake on that semi hollow.
(I'm sorry, I'm really dead on the inside.)
Rob is back..............Why? Kidding
Lol, the 12 string sounded pretty awesome actually.
I hate how hard these are to find now!!! I would cut off a leg for the silver one lol
Always wanted to have one of these as my "3rd guitar".
Too bad I can't order from UK. Would definitely consider buying with the discount like that
BC Rich did make a 10 string Bich in the 80s with doubled strings E to G and the B and high E were singles. They go for crazy money now, and were made when Rich made good quality guitars, not the laughable garbage today.
I'm confused here, I've been seeing a lot of guitars with Rosewood lately, I thought it was banned ? 🤔🤔
Not banned entirely but you need a permit to import/export it

Such nice guitars, it's a shame about that giant Xtone logo on the headstock, what a dumb name for a guitar line!
Should’ve played solo from boys are back in town on the 12 👍
There's also an awesome version with a "Violet Shadow" paintjob. The PS-1000 FM
COMIN' DOWN THE MOUNTAAAAAAAAIN!!
Some tasty tones in this one. :D
These are great clean machines.
I think they are a bit ugly, but a sparkly chimney clean.
Lee makes me so happy :D
I demand 100% more SG
Careful.... depending on how you look at it, that could be 0. Mathematically 0x1.00 (100%) =0. 😏😉✌🏼
A little chorus goes a long way on 12 string tone god damn
This was a great demo, big fun, great playing and superb guitars, thank you Captain and Toenail, I mean Chappers. :-)
more of 10:00 please
Van Halen used an electric 12 string on Cabo Wabo
I for once actually really want one
If you told me they balanced that well, I wouldn't have had to watch another second. ;D
Also that 12 string is what I imagine heaven sounds like 😍
9:27 The flatulence is unheard of.
The last few videos without Rov have been great.
