I bought the exact rack featured in this video. I traveled from Wisconsin to Arizona with two 73 pound ebikes with zero problems. It’s an excellent rack, however, you need to make sure you tighten and lock the turning knobs that fasten to the bike, otherwise, they will loosen when you travel on the road. I also use a heavy-duty baggy and wrap the electronic speedometer with tape, because rain will get under the bike’s cover and damage the electronic display! I also use bungee cords to secure the bike to center post. If you remove the batteries during travel, make sure you seal the cavity with a wrap so no moisture ruins the sensors!
Recommend buying two small GPS trackers for those bikes and stashing them in a hidden place because all bets are off for externally mounted valuables in this day and age...
I loved your video. It was well done and very informative. You can do a big service to your viewers by always wearing a helmet in your videos. Us seniors are more likely to have an accident and when we do, our injuries are more severe and we take longer to recover.
That looks like a very stable and secure bike rack. Thank you for showing it installed and for demonstrating the challenges of loading the bikes. You didn’t mention it, but it appears that the seat stem clamps are adjustable so that they could be used for different ebikes from other manufacturers too. You may wish to consider using your cable lock on the bikes in the rack too because all anyone needs to do is remove the seat bolt on the stem and pound out the seat. The thief could then just remove the bike and even though they might not get the seat, that’s a much less costly purchase than the whole bike would be.
I have a similar Hollywood rack, but mine is a more 'heavy duty' model, since our ebikes are fairly heavy. When mounting the rack on my motorhome I also need to use an extension. Because I also use an inexpensive bike cover I've installed extra brake/turn signal lights on the bike rack, since the covered bikes block the motorhome's rear lights.
Thanks - your video convinced us to purchase the RV Rider as a Christmas gift to my wife and me. It was 20% off - great deal - This is one of the very few racks that is rated for a RV "and" and tow vehicle. I assembled it yesterday and will put the bikes on today (I was caught by darkness) - you are correct - it is sturdy and the directions are a bit confusing but watching the RUclips before starting was helpful. We have the exact e-bikes and will be trying some rear lighting on the hitch that I saw on another video -- thanks again great video and best wishes in 2023!!!!
We love the fold up availability. We can lock them up inside our truck with the back seat folded up being that we're not comfortable with getting a rack for our towable.
COMMENT, I just purchased a Saris rack for 2 e-bikes about the same price as the Hollywood, but much easier to load, holds firm, and folds up closer to the vehicle when not carrying the bikes. It also has built in cables to lock the bikes to the rack when desired. I would like your review on this rack as well.
This is the rack I want. We have the new Lectric XPREMIUM and each of the bikes are 75 pounds. Not sure what the weight limit is on that rack. I will have to do more homework on it. Great video, Thank you. 👍🏻
The Thule Easyfold X2 bike rack is much lighter than this one, includes a ramp and is much easier to load. Its built for heavy ebikes, It also arrives fully assembled.
Since these can't be used on a conventional travel trailer, I went with the Swagman e-Spec. It's rated for two 70 pound bikes and can be used on a travel trailer in addition to the applications this Hollywood rack has. And it's less expensive than the Hollywood rack too!
Just curious, what makes a bike rack rated for RV use? This is simply a hitch mounted rack. I would assume as long as the RV or trailer are equipped with a hitch any bike rack would work as long as it's rated for the weight of the E-bike.
@@Volfan812 the manufacturers determine whether their racks can handle the dynamic loading on a trailer. It can be quite different than a car. Most rack manufacturers will specify the exclusions in their warranty.
Thanks for making the video, but that looks like a pain from assembly to loading. I have a Thule that came already assembled and has a ramp to push load the bike. Much easier.
Mike & Jennifer, we have 2 e-bikes, one being the Lectric 2.0 and also a Hollywood Rack. I like how you lift the bike up one tire at a time; I will start doing that too. Yes, although I am rather inclined for assembling things, the rack did take some time as there are lots of parts. I wish some of the parts were on quick release as pulling out the wrench each time to move some of the pivoting parts takes time. I haven’t addressed a bike cover and like your suggestion of the motorcycle cover. How do you secure the cover to the bikes & rack so it doesn’t get so pummeled by the wind and keeping it attached? An aside. When I use the Hollywood ranch on our truck, I can easily accommodate both bikes. However on our fifth wheel, the hitch can only accommodate 150#, so it can handle the rack & one bike. I then put the folding Lectric 2.0 in a large tote and slip it inside the RV. This was the only solution I could figure out without having to install another rack in the front of the truck. The tote is a hassle, bit it does have wheels on one end so I can roll it into place inside our rig. Thanks both.
The bike cover is a neat idea but it covers up the tail lights, so we don’t use it with our e bikes. We want safety first and make sure people see our turn signals and brake lights. nice video guys!
The Hollywood 1500 is easier to handle. Less parts to disconnect. It is for two heavy ebikes. We also have 2 Lectric bikes and it's very easy to load. Place the bike in the position you want to load, squeeze the rear brake, just lift up on the front wheel and place it in the holder, then lift up the back tire and place it in the rear tire holder. Follow the same procedure to move it to the bike holder closest to the MH. Rinse and repeat for second bike. Easy peasy.
Where do you store your bikes when camping? I have a 25ft travel trailer and we are trying to determine if eBikes are worth the amount of work to store it. I travel w/ my wife and child
The 1UpUSA Super Duty Double is the best RV bike rack in my opinion. It's rated for 5th wheels and any other type of RV, all aluminum so it won't rust and 100% made in America unlike Hollywood bike racks that are made in Taiwan.
Comment. The One Up USA bike rack is so so much easier, faster and more durable. I can load two e-bikes in a couple minutes with no parts to keep track of. It also has options for a ramp and lighted license plate holder The license plate holder is especially nice if using a cover that blocks your brake lights. All aluminum won’t rust. No plastic straps. You will need the heavy duty one for e-bikes.
When loading the bikes, put the front tire in first. The bike will be more stable when lifting the rear. You did this on the first (inner) bike, but not the 2nd. Happy tails.
Question: When on the rack do the two bikes come close to contacting each other at all? Our Swagman rack has all the RV features and works pretty well but the bikes come so close we have to use other materials to keep them from rubbing. The hooks on the mast don't hit the bike crossbars in a great place either.
That is a great idea. Safe, out of site, and out of any weather. Lifting them could be a problem for some people. Maybe mount it on a rack that can be tilted. I would be interested in how this turned out?
Great rack. Thanks for the video. If I may add you can also purchase a grill cover that will work as well. I found one at Walmart a few years back that I believe cost $25-$30. The brand name one was double that price.
There is a $50 foldable lock that lectric offers …. Looks like all e bike owners should invest in as you can’t simply cut it with a bolt cutter. You need a grinder to remove it. No one wants to make that much noise to steal a bike!
Yes. Drill 2 holes in your rack crossmember, use self tapping metal screws and unscrew your licence plate from RV and put it on the rack. Buy 2 magnetic trailer lights that come with a wireless adaptor you plug into the RV trailer light receptacle. The lights are usb rechargeable and easily last more than 24hours. Just ensure they are well magnetized to your bike rack and that well identified passenger and driver side lights aren't inverted.
Really appreciate the effort but in my situation with a diesel coach anything behind the rig is covered with diesel fuel exhaust. Regarding the security I have had friends that have lost E bikes that have been secured under the most circumstances. I still believe out of sight is out of mind with the criminals. Thomyt
Just watched your Hollywood e-bike rack and frankly I have a THULE XTR Pro E-Bike rack and it is so much more easier to use than yours...Look it up and let me know what you think of it !
that cable is crap - trust me - any cable ! use it but back it up with a chain and lock. preferably a disc detainer cored lock. don't use a crappy master lock if you can help it - again - trust me ! I use a 3/8 chain covered with discharge hose from the home center. comes in a roll in several sizes and covers big chains nicely. if you want to learn about how bad locks are check out the lock picking lawyer channel.
The Thule XTR is definitely sturdier, weight underrated, one click foldable, locks to RV receptacle with an ingenious rotating handle keylock system, has integrated individual bike wheel locks right on the rack, looks nicer and doesn't require unbolting screws to fold the securing arms. I am so glad i didn't purchase this flimsy looking Hollywood rack.
We have both the Thule and the Hollywod Rack. The Thule XLR is not rated to be on the back of a Class A OR 5th wheel. The Hollywood Rack is...make sure you do your research before buying either expensive racks. The RV manufacturer has warranty rules as well as your insurance company and the Rack manufacturers as well, in case of an accident. Don't get caught being unaware. We bought our Thule first..and it worked great on the truck...and not at all on the toy hauler...wasn't stable..and we were able to fit the bikes in the garage......then we began our research and purchased a non toy hauler 2021 5th wheel....and checking into insurance, manufacturers warranty and the bike rack warranty...we opted to go with a bike rack that was specifically made for the hitch of the 5th (& Class As)...and the Hollywood Rack was the best...we had no issues with it...its sturdy and solid...not difficult to use. We use the Thule for the truck and car....which we love.
PLEASE NOTE: Hollywood Racks does not want any of their bike racks used on RV's TRAILERS, OR MOTORHOMES. Their website says this. They say the motion of RV's fatigues the metal and the racks will fail causing disastrous results for other motorists. They actually say if you want to use it on a RV then buy someone else's product. Just sayin.......
We have a companion blog post on eBikes on our RV Lifestyle blog at rvlifestyle.com/ebikes-for-rvers/

Thanks for this video. We are from Holland too. We just ordered this rack. Thanks for showing how easy it is.

Hey guys thanks for sharing I have same bikes but need an easy way to transport them without always having to fold them!
While I appreciate everyone suggesting OTHER racks, most of the ones they are suggesting are NOT RV rated like this one is. Thanks for the review!
thanks for the unboxing part, i can never figure that out! :)

What happened to your rad bikes? You may end up saying it in the video I just started it …I need a rack for ours so this is great!

weight linit is two ebikes that can weigh up to80npounds each...or 160 pounds total
The Thule Easyfold X2 bike rack is much lighter than this one, includes a ramp and is much easier to load. Its built for heavy ebikes, It also arrives fully assembled.
The last time I checked - the thule easyfold X@ is not rated for a tow vehicle or class a RV or any RV - see etrailer and thule for the rating
1. not rated for RV and its another $500 bucks more, but yes I saw him struggle the 2nd bike I would suggest something similar as well
Twice the price and wont hold most ebikes weight. NOPE!

Awesome instructions and review. Is the dog a Norwegian elkhound?

When you load the second bike it is easier if you put the front tire in first then put the back tire in, in makes it a lot easier
Did you connsider a rack with a ramp feature? Hollywood makes the Destination E and it is quite a bit less expensive than the Thule Easy Fold.

nice rack but isnt rated for towed vehs.

Enjoyed the video, hi to Bo!
Thanks for this video. I have been trying to justify a $600 rack. Do you think it would be easy to move to my pick up truck for day trips also?
Nice and easy
The 1UpUSA Super Duty Double is the best RV bike rack in my opinion. It's rated for 5th wheels and any other type of RV, all aluminum so it won't rust and 100% made in America unlike Hollywood bike racks that are made in Taiwan.
Get you a good steel lock, NEWYORK. When you park, put the bikes inside your RV. Many bikes are stolen. Get you an Apple Airtag & place on your bike.
I am looking for a cargo box that will enclose my one ebike on my RV hitch carrier have you heard of one of those??
Comment. The One Up USA bike rack is so so much easier, faster and more durable. I can load two e-bikes in a couple minutes with no parts to keep track of. I just got the 1Up as well and it’s super easy and well built. RV rated
When loading the bikes, put the front tire in first. The bike will be more stable when lifting the rear. You did this on the first (inner) bike, but not the 2nd.
Happy tails.
May I suggest clamping to the frame rather than seat as mostseat posts can be removed easily. Many times without tools.
i think we have this rack the spinning lock part fell off of the rack im not sure how to put it back on

does this rack tilt so you can load bike from an angle?

Absolutely should.

Could someone release the seat post lock, pull out the seat and then take your bikes? That is if you don't use that cable lock?
Wouldn't they need a key to do that? But I guess a pro thief could get around that.
I would think the lock does not restrict seat post verical movement.
