In the first few games, they always passed to each other instead of shooting, and sometimes the ball would be intercepted, we suffered a counter attack and players like Bellingham, Rodrygo and Valverde now have to run back to defend. This happened over and over again. It's better to shoot and miss rather than make a sloppy pass and suffer a counter attack.

I've been rewatching Madrid games from the 3-peat years over the past weeks in the int'l break, and 2 things stood out to me immediately: 1. The sheer technical quality that team had was INSANE. Bro, from Sergio Ramos and Marcelo in the defense, to prime Modric, prime Kroos, James Rodriguez, and Isco in the midfield, and to BBC in attack, everybody was able to perform magic with that ball. You had like 10 world class passers and dribblers in that team. Today, the current players are missing easy passes, not just complicated ones, and them beating a man feels like a rarity. In terms of pure technical quality, other than Vini, nobody walks into that 3-peat team. 2. The forwards were unreal. What I mean by that is they had the speed and technicality of the forwards Madrid have now, but they were tall and atheltic, all of them were amazing at scoring headers, and especially at winning long balls played by the defense. Now if Militao or Rudiger play a long ball, there's a 95% chance the opposition wins the first ball.

you're completely off. The problem is that there's no deep playmaker like Kroos to build and control the game from behind. Tchou Cama and even Valverde are not for this role. There's no feasible way for an attacking team to score many goals if you don't have a deep playmaker controlling the whole game from behind. You can have Pele, Maradona, and Nazario as an attacking trio. If you don't have a playmaker to control the game, the team isn't gonna even exceed 50% possession and there's gonna be no creativity and control of the game

I've been rewatching Madrid games from the 3-peat years over the past weeks in the int'l break, and 2 things stood out to me immediately:
1. The sheer technical quality that team had was INSANE. Bro, from Sergio Ramos and Marcelo in the defense, to prime Modric, prime Kroos, James Rodriguez, and Isco in the midfield, and to BBC in attack, everybody was able to perform magic with that ball. You had like 10 world class passers and dribblers in that team. Today, the current players are missing easy passes, not just complicated ones, and them beating a man feels like a rarity. In terms of pure technical quality, other than Vini, nobody walks into that 3-peat team.
2. The forwards were unreal. What I mean by that is they had the speed and technicality of the forwards Madrid have now, but they were tall and atheltic, all of them were amazing at scoring headers, and especially at winning long balls played by the defense. Now if Militao or Rudiger play a long ball, there's a 95% chance the opposition wins the first ball.

you're completely off. The problem is that there's no deep playmaker like Kroos to build and control the game from behind. Tchou Cama and even Valverde are not for this role. There's no feasible way for an attacking team to score many goals if you don't have a deep playmaker controlling the whole game from behind. You can have Pele, Maradona, and Nazario as an attacking trio. If you don't have a playmaker to control the game, the team isn't gonna even exceed 50% possession and there's gonna be no creativity and control of the game
