It might be interesting to watch if you get any more commissions coming in. They call it a Paludarium in the video but that’s just what they call a terrarium in Japan, and what we would call a Paludarium they’d call a terrarium. It’s kinda reversed if that makes sense.

Some of my favorite plants are weeds that I picked out of the ground lol. Look around your front yard, backyard, or park! Just make sure you're only taking small amounts and it's not on someone else's property. It's better to take home small plants rather than large ones because they'll acclimate better. You can also grow many herbs/vegetables as indoor houseplants as long as they get a decent amount of light. You can even grow them from vegetable scraps from your parent's cooking. Look up something like "vegetables you can grow as houseplants" and go from there :)

I draw, I paint, I like anything creative but I am also afraid of calling myself an Artist because I think being one has this huge responsibility. And most of the time I feel like my artworks don't have meaning which is true. LOL. With planting, I also want to show my creative skill by painting my pots and decorate them.
I believe you're an artist but to break it down, If what you do makes you feel creative, happy and if you feel like it's art then your an artist. Art is anything and everything 🤗🖤🖤🖤🖤 Ps. I definitely think what you're doing is art. Intent is definitely a factor, as is the relationship you have with the plants. So when you consider all the ways we could interact with plants, you find a spectrum: On the one hand, you have "buying flowers and putting them in a vase". I don't think anyone considers that art, even if you cut the stem to fit your vase, remove leaves, take general care of it, I think it's a hard sell as an artistic act. The interaction is between product and user. But what does that mean for flower arranging? The relationship is different now, the intent isn't to just have flowers in a vase, it's about the time investment, the amount of deliberation on what to use, how to arrange, and so much more. I don't think of my plants as art, because I'm just buying/inheriting/receiving plants and taking care of them. Most, if not all, of my attention is geared towards making sure the plants are healthy (enough sun, enough water, no bugs, propagation, etc). These activities do not contribute to an artistic statement. But of course, we don't just throw plants anywhere, we use them to decorate. So now we're crossing into interior decoration, in which plants play an important role. Of course, that's not to say that someone who has a bonsai isn't making something artistic, because they absolutely are. But the relationship and framework for interaction is totally different. There's a difference between taking care of a plant (not art), arranging plants in a certain way (putting big plants near windows, arranging pots of succulents, etc., is more interior design than plant art), using plants as art (bonsai, a pot with a mixture of cacti/succulents arranged in a certain way, flower arrangement, is all art), and using plant parts for art (non-plant art like wood carving, other art statements using wood). I hope that makes sense. Other easy examples is the different between planting a hedge for privacy and making sculptures out of them. Once you cross into using plants or leaves that can no longer live (like a bunch of roses hung on the wall, a frame of leaves, etc.), you cross away from the realm of plant art (which I really think should have the expectation of a LIVING plant) into some other art form. Wood has all sorts of knots and curves and can be a great material to incorporate into art pieces, as well as a great medium to use for wood carving. I would love to eventually have a frame with live moss, but it might have a lot of upkeep so how knows.

Trading, by a cheap but wanted plant and propagate and then trade the cuttings for more expensive ones. I have a 300$ plant that i got purely by trade

I draw, I paint, I like anything creative but I am also afraid of calling myself an Artist because I think being one has this huge responsibility. And most of the time I feel like my artworks don't have meaning which is true. LOL. With planting, I also want to show my creative skill by painting my pots and decorate them.
I believe you're an artist but to break it down, If what you do makes you feel creative, happy and if you feel like it's art then your an artist. Art is anything and everything 🤗🖤🖤🖤🖤

I definitely think what you're doing is art. Intent is definitely a factor, as is the relationship you have with the plants. So when you consider all the ways we could interact with plants, you find a spectrum: On the one hand, you have "buying flowers and putting them in a vase". I don't think anyone considers that art, even if you cut the stem to fit your vase, remove leaves, take general care of it, I think it's a hard sell as an artistic act. The interaction is between product and user. But what does that mean for flower arranging? The relationship is different now, the intent isn't to just have flowers in a vase, it's about the time investment, the amount of deliberation on what to use, how to arrange, and so much more.
I don't think of my plants as art, because I'm just buying/inheriting/receiving plants and taking care of them. Most, if not all, of my attention is geared towards making sure the plants are healthy (enough sun, enough water, no bugs, propagation, etc). These activities do not contribute to an artistic statement. But of course, we don't just throw plants anywhere, we use them to decorate. So now we're crossing into interior decoration, in which plants play an important role. Of course, that's not to say that someone who has a bonsai isn't making something artistic, because they absolutely are. But the relationship and framework for interaction is totally different. There's a difference between taking care of a plant (not art), arranging plants in a certain way (putting big plants near windows, arranging pots of succulents, etc., is more interior design than plant art), using plants as art (bonsai, a pot with a mixture of cacti/succulents arranged in a certain way, flower arrangement, is all art), and using plant parts for art (non-plant art like wood carving, other art statements using wood). I hope that makes sense. Other easy examples is the different between planting a hedge for privacy and making sculptures out of them.
Once you cross into using plants or leaves that can no longer live (like a bunch of roses hung on the wall, a frame of leaves, etc.), you cross away from the realm of plant art (which I really think should have the expectation of a LIVING plant) into some other art form. Wood has all sorts of knots and curves and can be a great material to incorporate into art pieces, as well as a great medium to use for wood carving. I would love to eventually have a frame with live moss, but it might have a lot of upkeep so how knows.
