    I just bought this machine less than a week ago. I went from a corded General Power Vee to this. The biggest plus, for me, was the drum is contained so it doesn't throw black gunk all over the place when running it. Plus I like the bucket it comes with to let it drain out when you're done using it, I guarantee that will extend the life of the cable and the machine because you don't have water sitting in the drum, corroding the cable. Another big plus for me was the flat base so you can set it down while running it, I can't tell you how many times I got burnt by the drum on my power vee from spinning against my forearm when I am holding it in a tight place and you have no choice to keep it running. Also my power vee got heavy the longer you held it. I haven't got to use it yet, but I am looking forward to running it for the first time down a drain. Thanks for the video!

      Sure thing I'm glad you liked the video! You won't regret picking it up, its an amazing machine definitely the best out there in my opnion, Milwaukee makes some of the best stuff you can get and this tool is no exception. Originally I ran Ridgid which is made by the same company as Milwaukee, TTI they also make Ryobi, Milwaukee is their top of the line brand and Ridgid is their midline brand and Ryobi their DIY brand. I ended up getting into the Milwaukee line because I was lucky enough to get into a program thru Home Depot where they sent me up to 5 free things month and not just tools but all sorts of stuff you can buy from Home Depot but I was lucky enough to get quite a few Milwaukee tools thru them and more importantly five 5amp batteries and I'm sure you know batteries are a huge expense when switching brands so between getting 5 Milwaukee batteries and 4 tools I was able to break into the Milwaukee line of tools. I mostly buy Milwaukee now but occasionally I'll buy a Ridgid or Ryobi tool if it's something Milwaukee doesn't offer Between the 2 Ryobi tools I have (I also have their garage door opener which accepts all sorts of awesome accessories!) my Ridgid 18-Volt tools and my Milwaukee M18 and M12 tools and including my Milwaukee yard equipment I've got at least 40 cordless tools now! Cordless tools are the definitely the future pretty soon everything will be cordless. I have a 10" corded Ridgid table saw but after picking up my Milwaukee M18 FUEL 8-1/4" table saw I quit using my Ridgid corded table saw because the Milwaukee one is nicer has the same rip capacity of 24-1/2" and has things like a soft start motor and a better measuring rail system plus I don't need to mention it's more compact and is easier to pack around plus I never have to look for a for an outlet and it'll run all day on a 12amp battery, same with my 10" Milwaukee M18 FUEL Miter Saw, I also have a 7-1/4" sliding Ridgid Miter Saw for smaller jobs. The only other corded tool I have is my router which is in my router bench and never leaves me garage and a corded Ridgid wet-dry vac but I also have a small Ridgid 3 gallon wet-dry vac and I also have a cyclone Milwaukee vacuum it's not a wet-dry vac and only vacuums up dry stuff but it's amazing it has a nice tangle free hose and an end that takes wey-dry vac attachment and has a steel hose on the end that collapses for storage but with the slide of a collar reaches the ground and it has an attachment that let's you wear it as a backpack which will also come off so you can set it on the ground to use and it also has a retractable hook to hang it from a 2x4 and also a strap with a clip so if your using it up somewhere high your able to clip it and hang it on something if your into the Milwaukee tool line and need a good vacuum you should check it out it's awesome. www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-FUEL-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Brushless-1-Gal-Cordless-3-in-1-Backpack-Vacuum-Tool-Only-0885-20/305519406 anyways I'm so glad I got I got this Milwaukee M18 FUEL Drain Snake and for free at that I really lucked out there!! I've used mine well over a doezen times now and I've never come across a clog it wouldn't handle and I love the fact that it's cordless, no more searching for outlets. Plus like you said the fully enclosed drum is super Badass plus the bucket and the way it let's excess water drain into it is awesome plus it makes it easy to carry around and mess free too. I also really like the tray that'll hold 2 batteries up to 5amps inside although you'll never need two 5amp batteries since 1 will run it all day and having a place for a charger is nice too plus I like the accessory spot, I keep all the heads toy 3/8" cable some work gloves and safety glasses in there. Also if you wrap up the cable your not using u can fit it in the bottom of the bucket. Also you can reel your cables all the way out and spray them with WD40 to keep them from corroding. But if you look close at the front there are 4 screws holding the front housing on and if you take them out the front will pop off and you can clean out the drum, I'm not sure if you have to take out the 4 screws holding the drive collar on and take it off but I don't think you do. The reason I say I'm not sure is when cleaned mine out I took out the 4 screws and removed the drive collar. Either way it's easy enough to take apart so you can clean out the drum! Anyways I'm glad you enjoyed the video, sorry for the long reply

    Regarding the power feed, is it capable of retrieving the cable while in forward rotation, or does it only retrieve with the motor in reverse?

    • @chevy5137
      @chevy5137  4 года назад +2

      It has a forward and reverse switch and when you power feed the cable in forward it spins clockwise and in reverse it spins counterclockwise. However when your power running the cable in the stationary position without retracting or retrieving it you can spin it clockwise or counterclockwise. Plus you can also put it in neutral and pull the cable back in by hand if you want to.

    • @JeffinTD
      @JeffinTD 4 года назад +2

      Thanks for the reply. Probably not a deal breaker but I’d prefer it to power retract running forward like a full size drum machine. Better chance of staying hooked/pulling the clog out, less chance of trashing the cable.

    I know not recommended but is there any way to add 15 more feet to the cable once u hit 35 ft sometimes just need that extra 15ft to not have to pull out the big guns

    • @chevy5137
      @chevy5137  11 месяцев назад +2

      You can't add any extra to an existing cable, but you can actually purchase 50' cables for it provided they are either 5/16" or 1/4" in diameter however 35' is the maximum for a 3/8" diameter cable. For my machine I have a 50' x 1/4" in cable and a 35' x 3/8" cable.

    • @arealmaintenanceandrepairl1103

      Got it so a 1/4-3/8 50 ft will fit in this what about the m12

    • @chevy5137
      @chevy5137  11 месяцев назад +1

      You can use 50" long cables in 1/4" and 5/16" diameter but you can only use 35' long cables if they are 3/8" diameter. The M12 will take a cable of 25' long with a 5/16" diameter max. So the M18 is far superior being able to take cables twice as long, also the M18 is for drains up to 3" where as the M12 is only recommended for drains up to 2-1/2" In addition the M18 has the nice locking collar whereas I believe with the M12 you have to hold back on the collar to keep it engaged. I haven't had a drain I couldn't clear with my M18 yet. I also have the Milwaukee M12 Air Snake which is really nice for smaller clogs and is very quick and easy to use, it has multiple different heads to use on different kinds of drains. I've found it particularly useful for toilet clogs, it has a rubber head specifically made to fit in the toilet for a tight seal and since it uses air pressure instead of a cable that could damage the ceramic inside the toilets trap there is no need to take the toilet off to use it. If your looking for an M12 unit I would definitely suggest the M12 Air Snake.

      Yeah with the fully enclosed drum it doesn't make any kind of mess at all which helps to keep it very clean and I am pretty OCD about keeping all my tools very clean because they cost a lot of money so I try to take very good care of them so I wipe all my tools down really well after I use them to keep them looking like new! Plus I am not a plumber and do not use it on a daily basis within the 6 months I had it before I made this video I had only cleaned about a dozen drains with it. Looks cool, but I’ve used plenty of professional snakes and best and safest way to clear drains is to manually feed the snake. When you have it going forward and say your in about 20ft or more, you can’t really feel if your hitting something that fast, and that could cause you to mess something up or kink the snake. We had a heavy duty automatic one that went down the wrong path and ended up coming up the toilet and damaged it enough where the toilet had to be bought & replaced by our company. So in a perfect world where you just have a straight line plumbing this would work great, but we don’t live in a perfect world. My advice, get the manual feed one, cause you can easily feel when you hit something, and you can react faster so you don’t mess anything up, or kink the cable. And this design of turning that collar looks like it would take too long.

    • @chevy5137

      For your information not only can you run it forward and backwards in drive mode but you can also flip it into neutral so you can feed the cable back and forth by hand so you don't have to use the power drive system if you want to, so it is really the best of both worlds!👍

      Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed the review I know it was a bit long and I repeated some of the features more than once but it's an amazing machine, I love mine it's never let me down! I'm not a plumber but I've done about 30 drains since I've had mine and it's cleared them all quick and easy! 👍I'd mention all the features but there in the video but I'll say I love that it's cordless and the enclosed drum is great and keeps everything mess free and the bucket it goes in is great much better than just a 5 gallon bucket since it's made to fit the machine in it perfectly and has the tray on top for batteries and accessories plus the feed collar and the way it let's you feed the cable in forward and reverse and then stay in place to work the clog and I also like how you can put it in neutral and pull the cable out by hand if you want. If your a plumber this is the perfect machine for doing household drains! If your looking to do larger drains and need longer cable check out the Milwaukee switch-pack setups, they also offer specialty snakes for toilets and urinals and even have one that uses air pressure to clear clogs. As I said in the video Milwaukee sent me this one out for free to test but I was also given the option of picking one of the switch-packs but it was bigger than I needed or one of the air pressure guns which I didn't think would suit my needs as well as this snake so I picked it out and I'm sure glad I did cuz it's Badass and works perfect for my needs! If your a plumber definitely check out the Milwaukee line of drain snakes cuz they have all sorts of different drain snakes depending on what you need them for!

      Nice I just saw that one on the Home Depot website and yeah an 8.0amp battery is way more than it needs a 5.0amp battery will run it forever, hell it'll run just fine on a 2.0amp battery! You should look into getting the bucket for it, it makes it so much easier to pack around and since it sits face down in the bucket it let's any excess water drain out while keeping the mess contained. I think you'll like the Milwaukee better, I freaking love mine I just did my shower drain last week and it only took 5 minutes and I pulled out a big chunk of shit! I haven't personally tried the dewalt one but it looks like a drill with a drum attached, I like how the Milwaukee is a one piece design better and the DeWalt will only take 35' cables where the Milwaukee will take up to 50' cables plus I like the cable drive mechanism better and also the enclosed drum too so I definitely like the design of the Milwaukee better.

    If you don’t think this is for a blue colored worker who owns his home then you’re nuts This will paper itself and three drain clogs getting unplugged because this cost me about the same as three times somebody coming out to unplug my drain for my sink in my kitchen three times catch me with this thing cost me. I did my first drain tonight 2 more time and thirds on the house you know a plumber that will do that. Plus for another call I got the borescope. In the thing does work like a champ it just takes a minute to get used to it if you ran the old drum style snakes with the footpedal I kind a wish this had a foot pedal.

      I'm not a fan of the foot pedal but I guess it all comes down to personal preference. If your not going to be doing multiple drains with it then I recommend the Ryobi drain auger, it doesn't have near the reach but should do for easy household clogs and is a fraction of the price, the Milwaukee is definitely a professional machine! If you can afford it and your going to do more than just one drain I would go with the Milwaukee all day long as it is the best handheld machine on the market in my opinion!

    My professional contractors only use DeWalt.

      I like DeWalt they make good stuff! I used to run all DeWalt but my DeWalt tools got stolen and then I invested in Ridgid and after I got some Milwaukee tools and a lot of free Milwaukee batteries I branched into Milwaukee. Really it just comes down to your preference and which brand happens to make specialty tools that u might need

      Nice sounds like a good deal. Milwaukee sent me out mine for free to test and review and it's the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Drain Snake Auger Kit. Here is the link to the one they sent out to me, it's totally Badass!
