    great review. Thank you - Graphics Intel 600 - or Radeon 540 X - much appreciated
    Headphone jack is a 4 post, not just a 3 post. The 3 post only does stereo.
    The 4 post has a mic AND stereo audio, which is why the picture shows a headset with a mic.

    I chose this over latitude 7300 because it's better thermals hence more longevity...what do you think?

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 года назад +1

      I would too as I too perfer the thermals in Latitude 5xxx over the 7xxx and also the better performance processor, only a little extra weight to carry is the drawback.

    Thank you for the great reviews, BsianDad. I really appreciate your thoroughness and effort you put into testing all the right details.
    I wonder if you could offer any insight into the differences between the 5400 and 5401 models, particularly in terms of noise and heat emissions, but also anything else that comes to your mind beyond the obvious differences in CPU performance and price.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 года назад +2

      Your very welcome A regular everyday halfbird guy, I was annoyed watching other tech review channels on products not getting the information I was after normally so decided to want to change that. It's to help my clients on deciding which products and myself as education and thought it probably be useful to others as well on what I find out. As for the difference between 5400 and 5401 having the two share the same chassis and the main difference is the processor 5400 (8th Gen Intel) and 5401 (9th Gen Intel) comparing the i7 or i5, on paper the 5401 has more processor cores than the 5400 and the 5401 is a non-powersaving and way lower TDP but having them both side by side in person seriously didn't feel much difference to temperatures between the two I would even say the 5401 actually ran a tad cooler to touch than the 5400 which is a huge surprise. Noise wise as for the loudness it can go zero difference but the 5401 will tend to spin up it's fan more to keep the processor cool when performing medium load tasks compare to 5400. If doing low load task zero difference between the two. Processor performance wise you can check out my other review comparing the Latitude 7400 vs the 5401 (ruclips.net/video/VADXFXbvYjk/видео.html) since the Latitude 7400 houses the same processor as the 5400. To make it all easier the 5401 is better and you wonder why the 5400 exist, it is purely comes down to cost, about $300 cheaper and that's it. If you can spend the extra $300 it is a lot better performance laptop the 5401 over the 5400. Hope that helps you =).

    • @regulareverydayhalfbirdguy
      @regulareverydayhalfbirdguy 4 года назад

      Hey, @@BsianTech, thank you very much indeed for the exhaustive reply, I find it very valuable, and it helps a lot in deciding between the two, should I end up going down the Dell road. Performance is actually not as important to me as low noise and heat are, and the 5401 spinning up its fan more frequently for medium-load tasks is concerning me more than the difference in CPU performance, so I'm tempted to err on the side of the 5400 based on that. But I will look at more details, as well as rewatch some of your comparisons before making a decision.
      As for your motivation behind making these videos, you're doing a great service to people looking for this kind of information on laptops which is notoriously hard to get. So thank you once again, and definitely keep it up! 🙇‍♂️

    Do you recommend to buy a used one? Consider of doing that. I need some kind of laptop with Intel i7, 14" FHD and RJ45 gigabit port.
    Maybe 14" is a little bit small? but 15" are a lot more expensive even if used.
    Would use it like a service laptop. No games or anything. Just connecting to networks and such. Some basic office stuff.
    Would definitly upgrade ram and ssd. No need for the touch screen version. I saw that there are a single point keyboard and a multi point aswell.. which is preffered?
    There seems to be a lot of configuration versions out there. They are all different.
    Does it feel slow? Why didnt the CPU turbo boost higher in your stress test? The temperature wasnt throttling as i could see.

    Hi does SIM card works in this laptop. I have installed sim to the sim slot but network is not detected. Is there any additional driver required or??????

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 года назад

      There is normally a driver for the SIM Card slot for the laptop. If you go to the Dell support page and look up the Latitude 5400 and under the category "Modem/Communications" you should find something like this "Dell Wireless 5820e/Intel XMM 7360 Firmware and GNSS Driver" that is what you're after. I hope that helps simanta baishya. I don't have much experience for the SIM card slot as it is rarely used in my environment as it is expensive here in Australia and rarely used.

    I just got this from my company. How to turn on the backlit? It says fn+f5, but when i press it, nothing happens.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 года назад

      That's the right button f5, sometimes it can just be F5 only without the FN but of course you would have tried that too. Just to let you know that the latitude laptops can be option not to have the backlit keys to save money (its not really saving much IMO). Easy way to check is to do a Dell warranty check on your service tag of the laptop, once you get the results then click on "view system configuration". In the list of the items for your laptop it will hopefully list something like this "Dual Pointing US English Backl it Keyboard" then we will know its meant to have backlit keys then its a matter of calling up Dell to lodge issue with it. Hope that helps cmy dwats.

      The difference is the processor mainly, the 5400 runs 8th Gen Intel Core (it runs a U series CPU to save power but takes a little performance hit for it) and the 5401 runs 9th Gen Intel Core (Runs a H series CPU that is more unlocked power so has higher performance). Hope that helps.
