First off, they don’t make a 15” iPad (at least yet), there is a 12.9” but not for ~$400 so I guess it depends on if the size of the external screen is relevant
Is it just a display only or can you actually interact with it? Like I have it hooked up to mac to the display, then can I use the touch screen display to actually go into files, open up xcode, play music, or do I have to actually do it on mac.
IIscrollingIinputsdesignedmouse. I also used an iPad for HS and was a lot better, but thats because its primary focus was *using* touch controls, not *adapting* touch controls, currently now I have zero need for a touch screen on my laptop, because the trackpad can do what I need it to do (at least on Mac OS) I don't draw or do 3D stuff so its a no brainer why its useless to me. Maybe if I did more digital reading on my computer instead of my outdated iPad for that use Edit what the hell happened to my comment?
Or if they added a touchscreen to the macbook, they could just put the same fingerprint resistant oleophobic coatings on their macbooks, in the same way that the iPhone and iPad have them.
If you do want to use a touchscreen on a mac you might want to check if there is support by touchbase.
