REALLY helpful video, thanks very much 🙂
thanks
thanks for your comment!
I'm thinking of getting the S5 body. I use the mft at the moment and love using my old Olympus OM manual lenses. Would these work well with an L mount adaptor on the S5?
Hi there..very usefull video you made! I have a question: I have a Lumix S5 and just bought a Konica AR lense, unfortunately there are no avialable adapters (AR - L adapters) here in europe at moment. I checked in the internet all day long :( Do you think that your solution (L to EF) and then ( EF to Konica AR) would work too?? Im planing to get some Canon EF mount glass anyway so that would be great. Or do you have other sugestion that would allow using konica AR- and Canon EF glass on Lumix S5??? I just need it for video and use manual focus. Your advice is very much appreciated. Thanks
Hi Kim,
I tried to use M42 lens plus M42 to ef adapter plus sigma Mc 21 on S5 body. It doesnt work for photography. I keep getting the lens is not attached properly error.
In video mode it works fine.
Do you have any suggestions?
Regards, Miro
great vid, could we use lumix G7 lens on this S5 camera? an adapter is required? thanks
Hi, there is a Crop factor when do you use m42 lens on this camera? your Helios 58mm is 58mm on the S5 Camera?, Thanks
S5 is full frame so it's without any crop
hello and thanks for the video! I have just tried buying the adaptors and putting a couple of different vintage lenses, they work fine but i can't change the aperture! obviously i can't change it in the camera, but it doesnt work even from the lens ! why is that and how can i change it?
If its an M42 lens there is a smal pin on some lenses that some older cameras had a Apature auto function. This is the reason but i can't explain in detail what to do, but i hade the same issue some days ago,
This is a good topic to make film about..
Going to have a look on it..
Hello there. I had the same issue with my Canon FD lenses. Some old lenses got these type of locks that must be released in the back. This video helped me with my FD lenses and even tho you might not have one, it might give you some idea of what to look for. Cheers ruclips.net/video/juGX1XyZ6WI/видео.html
Does the adapters affect field of view? Even on full frame the adapter is moving the lens forward so I’d imagine it would increase the FOV?
no it don't, the lenses are designed with a larger flange distance since the are designed for a cameras with a mirror inside. The adaptor is just correcting for the flange distance that the lens was designed for.
Adapting a Canon RF lens for a Lumix might be difficult tho same as it's in the past was difficult to adapting a Nikon lens for a canon camera.
But using older lenses on a mirrors camera don't affect the optical performance in any way.
It's funny how I love EVF and mirrorless cameras for this reason but at the same time I hate it compared to the reflection a camera with a mirror gives. At my work I still use a canon Eos 5d vi , just love seeing the world thro the mirror but using any old lens with manual focus is a pain.
@@Kim_Alexander Awesome, thanks for the info.
Thanks Kim. Using the EF adapter as the common adapter is an interesting idea that I’m going to mull over. BTW, are you able to provide a link to the gears you used on your lenses?

Thanks for your comment!
Do you have a crop on the Lumix S5 when you use those vintage lenses?
No the s5 is a full frame so you get full coverage from the lens
@@Kim_Alexander oh nice ! Thank you !
Interesting...thanks. There would of course be no autofocus, but I wondered if the S5's exposure metering is in any way affected by using these combinations? I have a number of Canon EF lenses acquired over many years and some more recent Pentax lenses which include adapters which can convert old manual lenses to autofocus.
There is active adaptors where AF and apature controls works as well that would be a better option for EF lenses. Metering works well with adaptors
