    It was already stated that botw and totk take place super far into the future so their placement on any of the 3 timelines don’t matter, and the sky islands were formed when Hylia wanted to protect the land from Demise and his army so she just straight up launched it into the sky and reincarnated as Zelda and waited for someone to come along and be capable of using the full tri force (Link)

    • @jamesbrandon5162
      @jamesbrandon5162 11 месяцев назад +26

      The sky islands in TotK were created by the Mineru in the past, long before the Upheaval anyway. The Zonai ruins were entirely on the ground in the distant past (the founding of Hyrule).
      Given that that takes place even further back than the 10,000 years stated in BotW - at which point Ganondorf had already been sealed for so long that he was able to create the Calamity - it's safe to say that the old Hyrule (founded by Link and Zelda in Skyward Sword) was likely already ancient myth before the Rauru founded the Hyrule we know in BotW/TotK.

    • @jamesbrandon5162
      @jamesbrandon5162 11 месяцев назад +10

      That was a lot of words to say that BotW/TotK is as removed from the original timeline as we are from the founding of the first modern civilization of Sumer - at least thrice over.

    • @hist150project5
      @hist150project5 Месяц назад

      @@jamesbrandon5162 Way more than that. Sumer developed about 6,000 years ago. TotK's backstory occurs long before the calamity that occured 10,000 years ago, and the original timeline is already far removed from this backstory. The original timeline is at least hundreds of thousands of years before BotW/TotK, maybe even over a million.

    If the Zelda timeline is circular then the branching lines are actually what happens in each cycle, just one at a time. Child, adult and fallen hero timelines would actually follow each other instead of happening together. With BotW and everything from Skyward Sword to OoT being constant because there has to be a calamity that causes Hylia to raise the sky islands and that leads down the same path until OoT when Zelda and Link mess with time and cause different events to happen leading to the timeline changes.

      I think what he means is that, yes BOTW takes place after all the other games, and ofc TOTK takes place after BOTW. But after the ending of the game, there's gonna come a point where the events of skyward sword will happen again in some sort of way, causing the series to loop over & over. I don't really like the idea cuz there are things that don't make sense like Zelda would have to become Hylia and reincarnate or the master sword would have to cease to exist to be forged again. Every other language (and most importantly, the original Japanese) just says that Ganon hasn't been able to properly reincarnate (due to Zelda slowing him down, and now you as Link have destroyed the body he was trying to reincarnate into, but you haven't completely killed him) he's taken this beast form.

    I'm just gonna spoil this to settle the debate. Miyamoto doesn't give a fuck about story. There are interviews where he says this and instead focuses on gameplay. Nintendo has retconned every zelda story from the dawn of time.
    But the dragon symbolizes the eternal life of the dragon that comes with consuming a zonai secret stone. All of the dragons were once people who ate the stones and turned into dragons and will now live forever.
    The reasons to think it's before skyward sword are too contradictory.
    In skyward sword we create the master sword and the triforce.
    In totk we have the fully finished master sword. We do not have the triforce. If it's before skyward sword then the zonai stones work. But we have the master sword as it was completed at the end of skyward sword.
    So how do we work around that? There's a past and a present in totk. In the past it stands to reason the master sword and triforce may not have been created yet. But the Sky Islands are a direct result of the upheaval. Which happened in the present day where the master sword was already well established.
    It was a neat idea. But these games aren't well established and they just want to make new gameplay with each installment. I feel like the hyrule historia depicts this with how all over the damn place those 3 time lines are and now we're trying to figure out how to fit a reboot of the series into it.
    It's also worth noting that the goddess hylia still exists in totk. Toren the monster forces leader mentions her in his dialogue and of course her statues are everywhere. It has potential but if thr sky islands are skyloft they need to explain how the fully forged master sword existed before skyloft when the whole point of skyward sword was to make the mastersword.

  • @robertcurry389
    @robertcurry389 11 месяцев назад +8

    I disagree, because the title is a reference to the tears of the dragon, which if you have played through to a certain point of tears of the kingdom, you’ll understand the significance of those tears and the dragon they come from. It doesn’t directly spoil the game, but it is an obvious nod to the events of the game.
    And the Zonai sky islands were not created during the calamity but during the upheaval, the skyward sword sky islands were made by the goddess Hylia herself to rescue her people from a calamity. So these sky islands inhabited by the Zonai that were made again during the upheaval of course aren’t the same sky islands.
    Demise’s curse he lays on Link and Zelda are doesn’t create a time loop, it just means that there will always be more Zelda games and each one will have Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf in some way shape or form. It wouldn’t reset the timeline.

      what’s interesting is with this cycle theory, his intentions wouldn’t matter. if the timeline events are looping he has no choice but to reincarnate, whether he is trying to/wants to or not. it suggests that even the most evil man alive has no control over the curse, just like the fated hero of hyrule and descendant of the divine goddess have no control over it. plus, demise and ganon(dorf) aren’t the same beings. it could even be as simple as demise deciding ganondorf is no longer useful to him and choosing someone or something else to fulfill his hateful desires. at the end of the day ganondorf is just a guy and demise doesn’t need him specifically to continue on. it’s dark but i like it.

    according to my lore, The islands in the sky drifted down from the heavens and were the home of the Zonai. They could’nt have been lifted up because in the cutscene it shows green rocks falling, and the golden vegetation does not match that of the surface. During the upheaval, The demon king broke the barrier between the 3 worlds and he could have been also Zonai in origin (this can be explained by gloom monsters dropping Zonite) Zelda is doing insane things like controlling Yunobo’s mind because she is the sage of time, and she saw all of the futures unfold and she knew it was the only way to do it. She can’t just turn into the daughter of a general and have no power at all suddenly. The depths were always there, but the demon king infected them. He broke the boundaries between the worlds so they would cancel each other out and he would come out on top. The lore that Pointcrow told us may well be the most logical explanation for the lore of the series, but as I play more and more of Tears, it doesn’t fit in as nicely. The depths can’t be closed up like that and everything is different (The map vastly). While this is an extremely valid claim, there are missing pieces of the puzzle that this lore lore can not find.

    A theory i had after AoC is that BotW isnt just when the timelines happen to unify, but that terrico was specifically built to unify the time lines, and did so around the time of the calamity when the state of the kingdom and the creatures in it were similar enough to reunify the timelines without destroying everything. it wouldnt be farfetched that this time travel and tampering could somehow cause a loop like Eric suggests the timeline is

    • @sylmaerie
      @sylmaerie Год назад +3

      i’d actually argue that terrako is a byproduct of the cycle, not the cause. the idea is that the whole timeline happens in a cycle over and over and over again with slight changes as the loop circles back around, with the events we see in one game coming back around again but not in the exact same way. if we look at it like a multiverse theory, that means there are literally infinite ways each event/game can play out, so a time traveling guardian egg baby that knows the outcome of one calamity is bound to exist for at least some of those cycles, making AoC possible. in another cycle it could have traveled back and warned the champions about the calamity and they still fail to prevent it and then for the BotW of THAT cycle terrako is a companion to link and helps him fill in his memories instead of impa giving him the pictures. just endless little things that change as the cycles repeat, yknow?

    The logo is not an ouroboros (an ouroboros is when 1 animal eats its tail/back that makes a circle). It's a double ouroboros that is different from the single ouroboros (a double ouroboros (two creatures swallowing one another's tail/back) in alchemy signifies volatility. Spiritually, it signifies the balance of the upper and lower natures. It can also be seen as an infinity symbol, the serpents twisting into each other).

    The sky islands exist in Skyward Sword because Hylia wanted to protect her people from the war on the surface. She gathered the humans all in a couple plots of land and raised them into the sky.
    The sky islands in Tears of the Kingdom appear to happen as a result of Link and Zelda's discovery of Ganondorf below Hyrule Castle. The ornamented and ethereal green hand was holding Ganondorf in place, but the incident caused the hand to release itself from Ganondorf and attach to Link. It's then then the islands raise to the sky, and it doesn't seem that any humans are on there.

    • @catnior

      Yes but in the trailer we see Zelda turn into Hylia. So maybe after that happens she takes the people of hyrule up to the surface islands for one reason or another and the loop starts.

    This Theory would also help to fix/clarify the whole "Original Hero" stuff because it would show that the Goddess's Chosen Hero referenced a few times in Skyward Sword (seemingly BEFORE SS Link) as have actually been BOTW Link, and with Hylia probably making a return in TOTK (speculated to be the glowing figure seen in the trailer), and showing that she must "lend him (Link) your (Hylia's) power" which actually translates to Link being the one who Hylia choses to help fight/destroy the root of all evil in the world (thus being the Goddess's Chosen Hero).
