This beautiful colonial town in southern Sri Lanka stole our hearts and it was exactly what we needed after that hectic first day driving our little tuktuk!
Galle is probably the most visited place in all of Sri Lanka and you can really tell why. It's filled with beautiful boutique hotels, great shopping, beautiful secluded beaches and nice restaurants and bars. But if you step outside of the center, it also has a great local market and of course, the friendly locals are everywhere! We hope you enjoy this Galle Sri Lanka vlog!
This has quickly become one of our favorite travel series because of all the amazing local interactions we've had. And well, of course Sri Lanka is such a beautiful country.

And I think two things have been improved so much over time with your videos and this video showcases both of them so well:
- Your storytelling and editing is so spot on. You clearly shoot a lot of angles with purpose and they work so well together. I can also tell you researched your locations so much in advance and try to build up anticipation while filming. It’s amazing.
- Gordon is more relaxed on camera now. He talks so much and is less tense 😅. I like this version of Gordon haha

I enjoyed your video on Galle. Your ancestors did a pretty good job colonizing Ceylon as it was called then. Happy to find you and your lovely partner promoting tourism to Sri Lanka.

Ceylon which was called Ratnadweepa( gem land) was colonized 2500 y ago by North Indians and Hela civilization was contued from then on till the central hill kingdom was invaded in 1815 a.d. by English.
Lower land areas were under the singhala king and portugese invaded and grab the lands in 1505 a.d.from then Kotte kingdom ruled by king Wijayabahu.
It was never colonized by Europeans but locals were forced in to labour for Tea, coffee cinnamon,coconut and pepper estates!
Galle fort was built by portugese and then a Dutch expeditionary force with the support from land by singhala forces from Kandy king invaded and captured it with many a casualties.The epic battle is explained as "seige of Galle "in wickipeadia.
Great to see you guys enjoying this beautiful island. Amazing to see this new trend of most foreigners especially budget travelers using tuk tuk to travel around the country.
Sri Lanka is just so gorgeous! And we were terrified honestly, but once you learn it is the best way to experience the culture. Being in a tuktuk really opened the doors for us to have the best local interactions. It was so fun and special! And we learned a new skill 🛺

Thank you so much, guys! Now my 3 weeks in Sri Lanka are coming to an end. I’ve been following your tips throughout these 3 weeks. Just finished a day in Udawalawe and OMG- thank you for mentioning the elephant orphanage. I watched your video about Udawalawe when I was about to leave and then I decided to stay to see baby elephants being fed- and this was the cutest thing I have ever seen! 😍 Also, I love your positive energy. As a foreigner it pisses me off when they try to rip you off (sometimes the entrance fee for foreigners is 50 times higher than for locals). Or the other day I took a shared taxi and I had to pay more than the rest just because I am a foreigner. But I like your perspective- how you say that you think it is your duty to help the locals recover after the economical turmoil. Thank you! And honestly- I wish I had a partner with whom I could travel like this! I am sure you have your ups and downs but you look amazing together ❤
Hi! How great you were in SL for 3 weeks 🙌🙌 and yes, the baby elephants were an absolute treat. TBH i wouldn't have liked being overcharged by the taxi.... but we don't mind when it's at touristy sites and the pricing is transparent. The worst thing is when locals are priced out of places in their own country. Anyway, thanks for the comment!!

If you go to Matar have a swim at Polhena Beach. There are resident turtles there and you can swim with them.
Taking note of this for next time! We already left unfortunately, but that would have been so nice. We love turtles!

Hello - we drove a tuktuk which has a low max speed (by law). And we picked it up north of Colombo and had to drive through city traffic, and we stalled many times, stopped to fly the drone, dinner, etc. etc.. I think with a car or taxi 2 hours is reasonable, depending on traffic.

@@waysoftheworld_ you miss my point. If it wasnt for colonialism then Galle would be a fishing village you wouldnt visit or probably have ever heard of. Next youll be saying how bad colonialism was for india whilst riding the train network. Its the attacking of history so you can indicate a moral superioriority but then also enjoying what it created. Either just say its colonial and that is its history (people know what colonialism is) or dont go if you feel strongly about it. Its just woke bs otherwise im afraid.

tuk tuk is not a good idea to travel long distance in SL...Best method is train; train 1st,2nd class so cheap & comfy
depends how you look at it, we really liked having the tuktuk... even for the long journeys. you have more flexibility to do whatever you want and go at your own pace. but yea... we heard the trains are nice, too

@@waysoftheworld_ Welcome! Spent a week there. Arrived the day after the Truck bomb attack on the Central bank and headed to Gaul next day. Week later on the 8am train from Gaul to Columbo noticed security looking for bombs. Day after same train had a bomb on it and caused many deaths.
