Umm… as a Sri Lankan who lived in Sri Lanka for decades I never drank tap water, neither did my friends. Either boil first and then refrigerate, or use a water cooler.

Hi! This is amazing!! 👏🏼 Thank you so much for sharing. I hope we get to visit Sri Lanka soon again and we can maybe get in touch with them to support what they do ❤️ Thanks again so much for sharing. We love knowing about businesses like these :)
We were there for one year- 1984! Some things have changed but most is very familiar. We of course had no phones. We arrived in the far north via ferry boat from Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, India. The war was starting. Soon after we arrived in Colombo my pocket was picked on a bus, our $ and passports gone. We were walking along the main highway, (with our 4 year old) wondering what to do. We did know one Sri Lankan, a former Buddhist priest who was now pastor of a church, but he lived 6 hours south in Tangalle. As we were walking we heard someone a block away shouting what sounded like my name. We looked up to see a man running toward us. Out of 23 million people, It was that one person! He just happened to be visiting Colombo, on a bus passing by, on the correct side of the road, looking out the window, and had seen us on the crowded sidewalk! It was definitely more than a coincidence. We ended up living and working with his family in Tangalle for most of the next year!
Frist of all, thanks for visiting Sri Lanka. Your analysis about Sri Lanka is the most truthful and fare by all means . Most travellers and vloggers exaggerate things for ulterior motives. especially to collect a few more viewers. But you said the story as it is . That's greatly appreciated. Anyone view your channel, definitely add Sri Lanka to their bucket list. Thanks again. Also, have a happy journey. Much love ❤️
Thank you so much for the kind words! We love your country so much. We haven't seen many videos of other travelers in Sri Lanka, but we can only speak from our experience that the people in Sri Lanka are kind and welcoming. This has been one of our best trips so far and can't wait to be back ❤️

Visiting Sri Lanka next month solo and I can't wait!! I'm so excited. I've been watching lots of vlogs and videos but I have to say, yours is the best one! Thank you for sharing all the information in such great detail and also for conveying such warmth and excitement about this country. 🙏
Really super video guys!🥳What a nice country and people. We booked flight yesterday and will leave in 10 days, can´t wait!🤩Planning it now... first hunch...to take the train to Kandy from Colombo, then cycle some days south through the tea area and hope to include Adams peak, and head to south for some beach action/surfing and maybe the natural park and watch animals. Spending Christmas🎅 too.. need to watch your beach video now. Happy travels!😎
So sweet. I wish I could hug you guys. We know you must’ve had some negative experiences in Sri Lanka too. But thank you for focusing on the positives. Please come back someday.

Thank for this great video. I was born Jaffna Sri Lanka but left the country when I was a kid. Sri Lanka is a beautiful country. We have planned a one month trip to Sri Lanka next year in April. This will be very helpful.

Amazing content of my birth country and watched every single episode of your SL adventure. Did you visit SL again? If so, would love to see more of your Part 2 adventures. These were very special and nostalgic for me as a Californian who has lived in the US for more than half of my life away from SL, but I keep going back. You both are awesome, and istuti for promoting SL 🙏 And ayubowan (means may you have a long life!)
Glad to see this video before embarking on this incredible journey. You did mention about affordable guest houses but I couldn't find a link for booking. Please share details of all guest houses you stayed.

You are welcome to Sri Lanka. 🎉 Thanks for your best word about our country. I think there are some more places that you missed out like Negombo, Mt-Lavinia. Visit next time to see the unseen locations.
Yes, we still have so much more to see! We fell in love with your beautiful country and can't wait to be back ❤️🇱🇰 Next time, hopefully we can stay longer than a month 🙏🏼
Thank you for sharing these insightful details about Sri Lanka. I'm originally from Romania, and my travel plans are set for December 22nd to January 6th. Initially, we were looking forward to spending a few days each in Kandy, Tangalle, and Colombo. However, after your recommendations, I'm contemplating making some adjustments to our itinerary. I'm seriously considering adding Udawalawa to our list, even if it's just for a night. I'll definitely return to share our experience with you! 😊
Please do let us know ❤️ There are so so many great places to see in Sri Lanka! Udawalawa was pure magic ✨🐘 We hope you can make it work 🙏🏼 PS: We love Romania! 🥰🇷🇴
As a local I really appreciate how accurate this video is. There are so many wild parks in Sri Lanka. They are as good as "Yala" . If you need any information on anything, don't think twice to ask. 😊
Hi, Thanks for the beautiful video and it's good to see you driving TukTuk. Could you please share the accommodation details around southern beaches? I tried to find out in the details but I cannot. Thanks and happy travel!
hello! our Sri Lanka beaches video has a travel guide linked to it with all the accommodation details. this SL travel guide video might have that info, as well... I don't remember 🙃 have a great time in Lanka! 🇱🇰
Thank you for this, I'm looking to book for November with a friend and I can't wait now, unless we go elsewhere, we're putting countries in a hat and picking one out, but it's somewhere I've always wanted to go to
Thanks! Can you check your spam folder for the PDF? Sometimes we have deliverability issues. If not, I'd have to send it via email. You can reach out at gordon@waysoftheworldblog.com
Thank You for your final update regarding your Sri Lanka. Next time when you visit Sri Lanka, try and go to North East and Eastern Sri Lanka. Cities like Trincomalee and Batticaloa which have great beaches and lots of places to see.
Thanks for the tips! One of the blessings of traveling by tuktuk is that it was too slow to bring us all around the island in the time we had. So more reason to come back and visit other beautiful spots in Sri Lanka!! 😎
I am landing on 3rd January midnight. What do you recommend if I want to cover the eastern part? I like to visit unexplored Sri Lanka. I am from Mumbai.
Hi guys, what a great video. I too have fallen in love with sri Lanka and its people ( I've been six times) Your video was so infomativ and produced in such a wayit covered everything a new visitor could want. The only thing missing wre the trains. I cannot prais this way of travel too much. Better views than by car. Ealier this year I hiked the last 40 miles up to Ella, just booking rooms along the way. so easy nowadays. to think 30 years ago, all I had was a guide book. No phones/internet.and no language. I can mime in any language.😉
Love your energy and all the brilliant tips from your fabulous Sri Lanka trip 🥰 so brave with the tuk tuks! We went there on our honeymoon in ‘07 and thinking of taking our girls there (age 13 & 15) in April ‘25 … do you think it would be a fun trip for teens? Thanks so much!
I think it really depends on your teens 🙃 if they like beaches (maybe surfing), safari, the outdoors in general and are curious about new foods - then I think it would be great. If not... well then i don't know 😂 We don't have kids - so take our recommendation with a pinch of salt. Thanks for the comment!
I sure do hope that you guys went to Lions Rock, I loved your series, we have been to Sri Lanka before and heading back in June 2025 so your series has been great But please please tell me you went to Lions Rock I sure do hope that you did and did not miss out on it
Oh! How beautiful! I loved this series! You two are just gorgeous! I am going to Sri Lanka with my 15 year old son in March next year! also excited to go there! I am a bit worried though, as we are absolute chillie wimps ..I am hopeless with spicy food! Any suggestions?
Oh this is great to hear that you guys are visiting Sri Lanka! We love that island so much 😍 Food is not always spicy, but do ask in advance. A lot of it is made fresh, and people are so nice and accommodating that if you ask in advance, you will have no issues! Just ask the lovely locals 💞 Have fun and safe travels!! 🙏🏼
Like your series, but you missed out of hikkadua and so many other lively places.. loved it so much when I went at the beginning of the year I'm going back in 2 months ..
Well, you always need a reason to come back 😎 we had limited time on the coast and chose where we went based on our preferences... have fun in Hikkaduwa ✌️
Your video was awesome! While in Colombo, don’t miss Mint Ceylon-a gem of a store run by three sisters who transform upcycled fabrics into beautiful, eco-conscious pieces. It’s the perfect place for unique, sustainable finds!
July in the southwest is monsoon season, so there will def be higher chances of rain, especially earlier in the month. Northeast beaches around Trincomalee will have the best chance for dry weather. If you are staying for an entire month, maybe you can keep some of your dates flexible and visit both, depending on the forecast.... they are far from each other, but you can always do a short visit to one of the central national parks 🐘
Thank you. Just to add your channel videos are very interesting & professional with great information x wishing you all the best in Turkey it’s a wonderful thing that your doing out there

As sri lankan we always tend to use tap water for drinking as it is certified and tested by water board in sri lanka
This is good to know! :) We just shared what our accommodations told us. Maybe they were just trying to be safe. We always prefer tap water!
Tap is absolutely fine. Aussie here who drank it the whole time and its just same as home water #haushusbands
Umm… as a Sri Lankan who lived in Sri Lanka for decades I never drank tap water, neither did my friends. Either boil first and then refrigerate, or use a water cooler.
@@DallasRabotI think it depends on which class you live in 😊 But tap water is fine. But not as good as purified water.

hello! our Sri Lanka beaches video has a travel guide linked to it with all the accommodation details. this SL travel guide video might have that info, as well... I don't remember 🙃 have a great time in Lanka! 🇱🇰
Thank you for making thyis video.. I enjoyed a lot
Happy to hear :)
Thank you for this, I'm looking to book for November with a friend and I can't wait now, unless we go elsewhere, we're putting countries in a hat and picking one out, but it's somewhere I've always wanted to go to
Excellent, informative video! Nicely narrated. I subscribed but couldn't get the pdf containing the link for your hotels. Please send. Thank you!
Thanks! Can you check your spam folder for the PDF? Sometimes we have deliverability issues. If not, I'd have to send it via email. You can reach out at gordon@waysoftheworldblog.com
Good 😊 video about Sri Lanka 🇱🇰.
Thank you 🇱🇰🩵
Thank You for your final update regarding your Sri Lanka.
Great. Thank you again for all your updates.
I am landing on 3rd January midnight. What do you recommend if I want to cover the eastern part? I like to visit unexplored Sri Lanka. I am from Mumbai.
Thank you very much for coming
It was our pleasure! Can't wait to be back 😍
I'm visiting there next month for mu birthday. Hoping to have a good time ❤
I think you will have a great time! Sri Lanka is fantastic 🙌
Thank you for visiting our country. Please come back again.
thank you, sister and brother.. come again
Thank you ❤️ We hope to be back many times 🇱🇰🙏🏼
Buses are crazy , totally agreed
Thank you very much you are visiting my country you are welcome 🙏🏽🙏🏽
We had the best time in Sri Lanka! Can't wait to be back and see more of it 🥰🇱🇰
Thanks.So useful!❤
Happy to hear ☺️
❤ thank you , !

It's really nice 😍
It's amazing 😊
Like your series, but you missed out of hikkadua and so many other lively places.. loved it so much when I went at the beginning of the year I'm going back in 2 months ..
Well, you always need a reason to come back 😎 we had limited time on the coast and chose where we went based on our preferences... have fun in Hikkaduwa ✌️
Your video was awesome! While in Colombo, don’t miss Mint Ceylon-a gem of a store run by three sisters who transform upcycled fabrics into beautiful, eco-conscious pieces. It’s the perfect place for unique, sustainable finds!
Thank you very much for coming to my beautify county
It was our pleasure 🇱🇰🙌
Thanks guys where’s the best place to stay end July on beach 🏖️ will Mirissa or South be too quiet and bad weather?
July in the southwest is monsoon season, so there will def be higher chances of rain, especially earlier in the month. Northeast beaches around Trincomalee will have the best chance for dry weather. If you are staying for an entire month, maybe you can keep some of your dates flexible and visit both, depending on the forecast.... they are far from each other, but you can always do a short visit to one of the central national parks 🐘
Thank you. Just to add your channel videos are very interesting & professional with great information x wishing you all the best in Turkey it’s a wonderful thing that your doing out there
It is a wonderful place .. beautiful people and beautiful places and beaches 😂😂😂…
Yes 💛
# visitsrilanka ❤ from 🇱🇰 Sri Lanka......😮 stay in Sri Lanka ...Live like Sri Lankan...Keep Explore 👍

Hi! Thanks so much! Welcome to the WOTW fam :) The place is called Green Chaya Spa and it's in Kandy. If you're heading there, make sure to download our FREE PDF about Kandy. It's linked in the description of the Kandy video. The Spa info is in there as well. Happy travel planning! ✈️❤️
