In today's video we are driving 100 miles from Negombo to Galle, and as it became the theme of the Sri Lanka travel series, it wasn't as smooth as we hoped. But as weird as it sounds, it was the perfect first day.
The road was busy and intimidating, but we somehow became part of the flow. We said hello to so many friendly locals and got so many smiles that by the end of the day, our hearts were so full ❤️
We hope you enjoy today's video. We're trying something different with this travel series and making these videos was not easy. So we truly hope you enjoy how they turned out.

hahaha yes he really was! We were terrified, but I guess survival mode is a real thing 😂 and it did help how kind and patient people were with us. We were greeted only with big smiles and friendly hellos 🥰

hahahaah amazing video guys! we indians are so used to this chaos and traffic that i feel exact same way as you, i get same anxiety as yours when i drive in Germany or US with so many rules and speed limit. Its crazy and diverse how we feel differently in different situation.. beauty of mankind!😆

haha that's interesting to hear that you feel anxious with rules! I guess we just become anxious when it's a way of driving we don't know and aren't used to!
@@amelie4905 true! Because we are so used to easily navigate through chaotic traffic that every body following the lane and less traffic, no honking feels weird in the beginning. It's definitely much better with times, no doubt!

Well you said, “if you told me yesterday what I would be driving through today(day 1), I would have said , NO F’ing WAY!
We pickup in Negombo as well and our biggest concern is starting day one heading towards Colombo and through it. Would you recommend an alternate route to avoid Colombo?
Unfortunately, if the first part of your trip is south, there's no alternate route that makes sense. Sorry! If you're renting with tuktukrental.com, they can bring a tuktuk to many of the beach towns in the south so that you don't drive through Colombo. If that's not an option, try to leave right after the morning rush hour, or even better, drive on Saturday/Sunday when many of the buses are off the road and it's generally quieter. And finally - if I can do it, you can do it. I'll never forget that first day, and in the end, that's what traveling to far away places is all about 😉

What a wonderful adventure! What was the top speed you achieved? Also curious how black and dirty was your face tissue after every ride from the pollution! 😅
It was so crazy but the best adventure ever! So many new things to take in! Top speed was probably 50km lol (speed limit for tuktuks is 40km though 🫢) - and OMG every night when we showered, the water was so dirty hahaha and our hands and faces too. It was bad 🙈

Bro don't let go your hands , do not talk to your back when driving , you can start the tuktuk in gear just use the clutch ask locals for help they will help you

We drive with the scooter in Sri Lanka an we have so many scary situations.
just be careful when you extend your arm out to wave or to point, some vehicle may pass with full speed very close and may hurt your arm..💢 and always stand on the left side of the road even when you halt💢
this is great advice! I (Aimara) was filming one time and a bus drove so close by, I thought that was it for me 🙈 but hey, I learned my lesson 😂

Yes, so the economic situation is still not great for locals. That's why we wanted to go there and promote tourism in Sri Lanka because it's a direct way to positively impact the local economy. The people are insanely kind and welcoming and of course, the country is so beautiful ❤️
