One thing i really appreciate about this game is how far they went with the British localisation. Just about every line of dialogue was altered slightly to fit better with British slang, and many of the ghosts had their names changed (although that made looking up guides online a pain).
Honestly there weren't many major overhauls to the dialogue, just minor alterations. The boo called Bootine was renamed, probably because no one here knows what that is, and they corrected a mistake where E.Gadd tells you to turn down the brightness on the DS (which was impossible on the original DS).
Arcaden My personal favourite was E Gadd's remark about selling the King Boo painting at a 'car boot sale'. It's such a uniquely British term (and TOTALLY the type of scene for an eccentric hobbyist like him) that it made me burst out laughing the moment I saw it.

Yeah I loved his goofiness and the way he actually didn't know what he was doing and didn't even wanna be there. Like imagine you have to do this and suddenly there are toads who depend on you to save them and you're just like "Geez what am I even doing...?"
I feel like a lot of people just say "#1 was better" and leave it at that. In my opinion, I think BOTH are great titles, but for different reasons. The first one was ominous, the lighting was darker, the ghosts were real, and the soundtrack was spooky. #1 was a great "Nintendo horror game" if you catch my drift. Having all the horror Esthetics, without ACTUALLY being scary (For adults at least.) Nitro hit the nail on the head, Dark Moon is different in many ways, and the main way I see is that it's more aimed for children. Just look, Dark moon has higher lighting, more friendly ghosts, Luigi's bumbling personality, and a more childlike soundtrack. But it has cool puzzles, funny atmosphere, and lots of charm. I feel like what Nirto said was true. Luigi's mansion isn't mostly about the game, It's about the FEEL, it's about the experience. Overall, I will always return to these two games. I feel like they're both made well, and both are very fun. But more of that, they're both fun for DIFFERENT reasons. While Dark Moon isn't like the first one, I'd still say it's a great game. At the end of the day, what I'm trying to say is, I wouldn't ever substitute one for the other. While both are labeled "Luigi's Mansion" both are VASTLY different, and in my eyes, that's ok! If I feel like playing Dark Moon, I'm going to play Dark Moon, if I want the original, I'm playing the Original! Both are very differnt, but both, are fantastic!

I think Dark Moon was a great sequel and did it justice. I was actually surprised at how good it was, I came in with little expectations. The only things I think were worse in regards to the first one was it's ambience, soundtrack/sound design, and ghost design/ absence of portrait ghosts. The gameplay was great, Luigi always made me laugh, and even the environments were interesting, I just wish they were connected in some way. I also put in many hours into the multiplayer, while the online definitely needs a lot of tweaking I definitely loved the challenge and working with others that actually knew what they were doing lol. One of my favorite games on 3ds hands down.
One of the things I liked about this game was the cool locations: towers that got overtaken by plants, a DESERTed clock factory, an abandoned arctic mineshaft, and the museum like final mansion
Both the original and Dark Moon all have some really good stuff in them, but also a good amount of flaws. The funny thing is that most of the flaws in one are completely fixed in the other! So if Luigis Mansion 3 just brings them both together it could be truly fantastic.

Isn't it cool that the house Luigi has in Dark moon is the lowest rank Mansion from the end of the first game? I personally see it as him not caring about the treasure and just trying to save his brother.
In another universe we got Waluigi's mansion and he totally took the highest ranked house, poor Wario had to wait all week for his pal to grab all the treasure before saving him.
Actually thats not the worst rank mansion. Luigis House is based off the Rank D Mansion. In LM1 the worst possible rank you can get is actually H which is nothing more than a tent

Yeah I prefer the more dark and scary atmosphere of the original game. Luigi's Mansion 3 leans more towards the 1st game's style. Even recommending you to turn your brightness down to make the game look darker/more scary

sonic won’t let me leave my room please help The cutscenes of Luigi just being Luigi was such a treat. And that’s not even including the Toads, E. Gadd, and the other ghosts and creatures. This game oozes personality.
It has great personality but it totally changed and missed the personality that the original had, which is why I had a much harder time enjoying the second game. While there is more personality, it's also much more colorful and cartoony. The first game had a much more dark and mysterious character that I find was a lot more fitting in a horror game.
Luigi's mansion 2 (Or Dark Moon if you were BOOORN IN THE USA) was a really fun game and I love it's artstyle and charm, but I prefer the more antique look of the old mansion, along with the humanoid portrait ghosts and the game being one long journey as opposed to several missions. I love Luigi's mansion 2 and I'm so glad you covered it :D
It’s named that way in UK because it’s a direct translation of the Japanese title. Kind of like how Luigi’s mansion 2 was changed to dark moon only in the US
"Rhythm Tengoku", the first example shown, translates literally to "Rhythm Heaven". More often than not, it's the other way around. Sorry to say, friend.

I was waiting for this! And I gotta say your comparisons to the original were spot on, for years I thought to myself that both games were good in their own way but I always preferred the original without being able to put my finger on why (other than the mission based system) and I think you were able to highlight those details for me a bit more! Only other thing I would say was the the original was darker as a whole, both figuratively and literally, while 2 is a bit brighter (more purple glows less darkness and browns) I always thought of comparing the two like this 'it's like if two different development teams were both given the same concept at the same time but made different games' Here's hoping 3 captures the best bits of both games! But I gotta say, despite there only being a 30 second trailer, it's looking good so far and I'm damn hyped!
I agree, even though it looks like the atmosphere and ghosts of Dark Moon are similar in this game, i woudn't mind that much, while they put everything that was good in the first one, in feel like this will be a way better game then Dark Moon.
Luigi's mansion 2 was my first ever experience with this franchise, and I loved it. It made me feel like a real ghostbuster, and it cemented luigi as my favourite nintendo character. But i unfortunately stopped playing the game when the R button on my 3ds broke.
Alright, I do agree with most of your positives and criticisms, but the one I have to disagree with you on is the game's soundtrack. Luigi's Mansion 1 has an iconic theme, but my problem is that it has ONE THEME for the WHOLE MANSION. Sure, it's a much shorter mansion, so there's no danger of it getting old. But to me, Dark Moon has the better background music because each mansion has its own song, each entirely unique and interesting. And heck, the one theme that is considered the game's "main theme" has a remix befitting of each mansion. Granted, those remixes are reserved for the repetitive time attack missions with a couple exceptions, but they're still good remixes that get me jazzed for ghost hunting. And when it comes to battle music, I have a problem with your argument. Yeah, LM1 had the ticking numbers to go with the music, but when you played the Dark Moon ghost sucking music, you didn't put in the part that gives that music its impact: the electric suction sounds that accompany filling up the meter for the suction burst. That's the part that completes the theme for me, like with the ticking numbers from LM1. But hey, honestly, between each game's battle music, they're about equal to my ears. There's nothing wrong with either of them to me. And with the E Gadd cell phone theme, yeah, I agree. He calls you way too much, but I still want that to be my ringtone. But hey, this is the first video of yours that I've watched, and I really liked it. Here's to Luigi's Mansion 3 bringing the best of both games to the table!

from the footage it looks like you played through the whole game without getting the final upgrade to the poltergust, making that one final level where you died like 100000 times harder
The original game had a great feeling that everything was connected. I really like the feeling of looking where to go next and stumbling into a room I've already completed way earlier in the game thinking "Wait that was here?"
I’m definitely one of the rare people that genuinely enjoyed Dark Moon. It was my introduction into Luigi’s Mansion since I never owned a GameCube as a kid. I’d argue I enjoyed it more than the 1st one, and even more than what I played of the 3rd one. Easily my favorite 3DS game, it’s just comfy and welcoming to play.
Dark Moon may have used strings too much, sure, but you can’t deny the music is more memorable as a whole. Except for the main theme of the original, which makes its way into the sequel too.
What would've been a better ending would be the Dark Moon gets obliterated at the end, but the ghost are so grateful Luigi defeated King Boo, who was turning the ghosts into monsters, against their will; decide to continue to help E.Gadd.
Man I love this game. It's so good. When compared to the original, it's hard to say what is better. The classic feel of the original is phenomenal... and Dark Moon's is so different, yet still great in its own way. I'm glad Luigi's Mansion 3 is looking to be a mix of the two. I'm betting Portrait Ghosts will return as guests in the hotel, and I'm hoping the music uses a perfect blend of orchestration and spooky electronic sounds. I disagree with your stance on Scarescraper though. I've spent hours on it. It's so much fun for me. Cooperating with random people online, while spouting out the hilarious "help help" "He-ey" and "Good Job" all the time. I really hope it comes to Luigi's Mansion 3, but with more modes and options. The original was going to have characters other than Luigi, but they wanted the game to be playable via Download Play, so they had to use something that didn't take as much space. They also weren't gonna make the rooms so simplistic and randomly generated. I think there needs to be some form of Random Generation, but is they could get a lot more layouts and multiple floors and room ideas in Scarescraper for Luigi's Mansion 3, that would be amazing. And with the New addition to the Nintendo Switch Online app, you would be able to speak with the strangers you are playing with using the app. I'm so excited, I really hope they use this potential.
Man, it was so fun messing about trying to catch ghosts with folks of all skill levels There were competitive moments, but always butt-clenching moments when everyone is just dead and spamming “help help!” while you’re dodging a hundred ghosts with spears

Oh man, I haven't seen this game since it's come out. I remember enjoying it but I really didn't like how it was mission based. I hope Luigis Mansion 3 doesn't do the same and goes for a more full on exploration type of design. I remember playing Multiplayer a ton. Either online, or I would take my little brother's 3ds to school because he never even played the thing. So I would take it to school to play with my friend like every day for weeks.

Gameplay, personality and story is better than the original, but the original had better atmosphere and had a bit more memoriable and surprising moments. I'd say dark moon is by far the supierior game, but the original is more unique in its presentation, which is its biggest upside, and the main reason why its my favorite game. Also, wait doesn't dark moon have about the same number of core ghosts, not counting portrait ghosts from 1? LM1: Orange ghosts, pink punchers, grabbers, trash can ghosts, shyguy ghosts, speedy spirits. Thats 6. Unless you coint the hallway ones, like the bowling ghost and ceiling ones, that's 8. LM2: greenies, brutes, sneakers, hiders, goop ghosts, those fat ghosts, poltergiests, goldies. Thats 8 main ones. So I guess about the same. But the ones in 2 also have alot of different forms, especially greenies. Sooo unless theres ones I missed, then they're the same. Also, for 3, I know I'm gonna like it regardless, but I want some more ambient moments. And maybe make the lit up rooms quiet with whistling like the 1st.
Dark Moon took everything cool and atmospheric about the original and pacified the hell out of it. The memorable and intricate layout of the mansion, the actually-kinda spooky moments and ghosts, all of it is dumbed down for an almost annoyingly cartoonish style.
Agreed. That's why the first is my favorite. But, dark moon is still a great game. Even though it's very cartoony and took alot of the best parts of the first luigi's mansion and threw them out.
@@MrMetalforever5 Tell that to the Ice Monster and King Boo, those 2 were pretty damn scary in Dark moon, (albeit the only scary character's/moments) King Boo's new design in my opinion works quite well (I'd argue better than the original but that's up for debate) the purple with the extra teeth along with the lighting make Dark Moon King Boo still pretty terrifying especially at jumpscare moments or when he's in your face. and the Ice Monster I feel like Rad could have been nicer too since it's a pretty new dynamic of being a first person shooter and is actually hard for a Luigi's mansion boss. As well as the Ice Monster's face and roar's also be pretty scary and when he tries to suck you in, the formation of the face the laughing when you miss a bomb, both you (Luigi/the player) and the Ice Monster going deeper and deeper into the ice pit all the while with the constant pressure of the Turret overheating causing an automatic game over gave me chills, fear and made me paranoid about the turret overheating. Luigi's mansion dark moon defiantly felt less scary from the first, however, those 2 bosses are some good notable parts in my opinion.

I feel like the first game had an effective sense of dread--the ghosts were legitimately intimidating, insomuch that I probably would have reacted in much the same way as Luigi did in a lot of situations. And the game over screen was terrifying--what exactly did the ghosts do to make that dead expression on Luigi's face? Much more sinister than a KO. The mansion itself was old, dark, and unsettling, rather than being cute and relatively inviting as in Dark Moon. The fear and desperation you felt from Luigi when his HP dropped was contagious and unnerving; the way his tone of voice changed quite startling. The ambiance between the two games is literally the difference between night and day.
I think if they'd just had portrait ghosts to end levels, or every other level, and cut down on the repeated F****NG DOG MISSIONS it would have been better. Yeah, that's right, I didn't mind escorting toad, cause he actually got to be part of the puzzle solving. Also, you can't not love firing the little fungus around like a cannonball.
I mean, I guess the lack of portrait ghosts made the first game unique. But the style of the first game just made it feel more, spooky and strangely comfy. The fine details and the darkness just made it feel really nice? I don't know how to describe it, but it's good. The personalities of the ghost also helped with the first game too. The ghosts in the first game felt, mean and actually scary. Luigi's Mansion 2 is a good game but I just feel like it would make it 3x better if they kept the same attitude, atmosphere, and theme from the first game.

We need Dark Moon no matter what. If we didn't get Dark Moon, Luigi wouldn't have adopted polterpup. And it is just too adorable. It's a ghost dog that somehow both feels like an actual dog, and a ghost, at least in the third game. The way it just shows up and seems excited to see Lugii and then jumps throuh a door, it's just great
Luigis mansion 3 looks like its in a tall haunted hotel (or at least, the luggage, and hallway cleaning supplies makes it look that way), so i hope each floor has like, one or two special "residents" or something to fill the portrait ghosts role based on activities only on that floor. like a dining area, maybe a theater, pool, etc. The verticality of the mansion this time can lead to a lot of ideas with elevators and general methods of getting to each floor. like maybe the elevator refuses to go past the floor you are on so you have to take the spooky endless stairs to fix it from above, maybe you have to climb out a window and use a creepy fire escape to get around it to the next floor. or maybe you skip a floor and have to go through the pipes to get back down to it. Point is, i just want to see what they do
Not saying that the game was expected to do this, but nothing could ever top the ending of the first game where Luigi sobs out of laughter and joy from rescuing Mario. It's a truly wonderful moment from the original and possibly my favorite moment as well.
The Multiplayer in my experience was terrible. Nobody wanted to work together and people kept on dropping off. I really left the game there because I couldn't complete it without the ghosts, but everything else was fun, tedious at times, but fun.
I think Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon's biggest draw is the fact that there's so much replayability. I recently went back to play the original Luigi's Mansion, beat it in practically an hour, and have nothing to go back to. I pretty much used up Luigi's Mansion, but I still feel like Dark Moon gives me more that I can have fun with.
Honestly, if they toned down the personalities of the ghosts and made them more scary than playful kind of like in the first one, better controls, and did better with the music this game would have been much better. I agree that the portrait ghost made the first game so great along with an amazing soundtrack, the final battle with king boo in dark moon honestly could have worked so much better the part where you have to run away from him made for really good imagery that reflected the first game, but the arena part made it feel childish again which sure it’s a Luigi game, but god did the final battle in the first one made it feel like the stakes where high!
The horror atmosphere of the first game is completely gone for this more child friendly approach. It's horse shit honestly. I remember as a kid being afraid to play the first game, but then once I got the first floor to get it's lights back on, I felt this sense of relief and that I really accomplished something (another reason why an open mansion is better than level based missions).
That was because you where a kid I seen kids get scared of regular Mario ghost houses and even darkmoon itself so saying it scared you as a kid is not saying much. But it is a bit creeper overall.

You've probably heard a few, Canvas Curse became Power Paintbrush, Squeak Squad was Mouse Attack, even Super Star was released as Kirby Fun Pack... UNLESS you lived in Australia. We got the Canadian PAL releases, meaning we got NTSC names on a PAL game with the Australian rating system (G, PG, M, etc.). This stopped with the Wii, as we got Epic Yarn with European voice clips, as well as Rainbow Paintbrush instead of Rainbow Curse, and this meant all the Virtual Console releases of the DS titles were the EU versions (and therefore incorrect).
You were able to articulate some things I couldn't quite put my finger on. I still liked the game though, and I always consider going back to it to fully complete it.
I absolutely loved playing the multiplayer mode with my friends. The fact that not everyone needed the cartridge to play the multiplayer was really awesome, and me and my friends would play for hours with each other.
I personally disagree with you on the music. It's really good, and I didn't even know it was all orchestra until you mentioned it. I hope Luigi's Mansion 3 combines the best aspects of both games to make one of the most fun games on the Switch!
The Dual Scream ringtone is so memorable; I *still* hum it, to this day, due to how simple it is. It's one of two songs to really embed themselves into my brain, alongside OoT's Zelda's Lullaby. I love the Dual Scream ringtone; it's the GoaT, I swear.
Is there a reason why 3DS capture cards only work with the OG small 3DS and OG 2DS? Every RUclipsr says that they can only use the original 3DS to capture footage.
They make capture cards for the new 3DS but they're way more expensive. I only got a 2DS capture card because it was the cheapest one, but even still it cost a looooot.
Yea, the portrait ghosts are definitely a must. I have the 2nd game on my shelf behind me and I don't think I got past the 2nd mansion. I hated the mission system and how lights could get turned on again even tho I had already cleared that room.

At the end of the day, what I'm trying to say is, I wouldn't ever substitute one for the other. While both are labeled "Luigi's Mansion" both are VASTLY different, and in my eyes, that's ok! If I feel like playing Dark Moon, I'm going to play Dark Moon, if I want the original, I'm playing the Original! Both are very differnt, but both, are fantastic!

I think Dark Moon was a great sequel and did it justice. I was actually surprised at how good it was, I came in with little expectations. The only things I think were worse in regards to the first one was it's ambience, soundtrack/sound design, and ghost design/ absence of portrait ghosts. The gameplay was great, Luigi always made me laugh, and even the environments were interesting, I just wish they were connected in some way. I also put in many hours into the multiplayer, while the online definitely needs a lot of tweaking I definitely loved the challenge and working with others that actually knew what they were doing lol. One of my favorite games on 3ds hands down.

One of the things I liked about this game was the cool locations: towers that got overtaken by plants, a DESERTed clock factory, an abandoned arctic mineshaft, and the museum like final mansion
Both the original and Dark Moon all have some really good stuff in them, but also a good amount of flaws. The funny thing is that most of the flaws in one are completely fixed in the other! So if Luigis Mansion 3 just brings them both together it could be truly fantastic.

Yeah I prefer the more dark and scary atmosphere of the original game. Luigi's Mansion 3 leans more towards the 1st game's style. Even recommending you to turn your brightness down to make the game look darker/more scary

It has great personality but it totally changed and missed the personality that the original had, which is why I had a much harder time enjoying the second game.
While there is more personality, it's also much more colorful and cartoony. The first game had a much more dark and mysterious character that I find was a lot more fitting in a horror game.

Luigi's mansion 2 (Or Dark Moon if you were BOOORN IN THE USA) was a really fun game and I love it's artstyle and charm, but I prefer the more antique look of the old mansion, along with the humanoid portrait ghosts and the game being one long journey as opposed to several missions. I love Luigi's mansion 2 and I'm so glad you covered it :D

I was waiting for this! And I gotta say your comparisons to the original were spot on, for years I thought to myself that both games were good in their own way but I always preferred the original without being able to put my finger on why (other than the mission based system) and I think you were able to highlight those details for me a bit more! Only other thing I would say was the the original was darker as a whole, both figuratively and literally, while 2 is a bit brighter (more purple glows less darkness and browns)
I always thought of comparing the two like this 'it's like if two different development teams were both given the same concept at the same time but made different games'
Here's hoping 3 captures the best bits of both games! But I gotta say, despite there only being a 30 second trailer, it's looking good so far and I'm damn hyped!

Luigi's mansion 2 was my first ever experience with this franchise, and I loved it. It made me feel like a real ghostbuster, and it cemented luigi as my favourite nintendo character.

Alright, I do agree with most of your positives and criticisms, but the one I have to disagree with you on is the game's soundtrack.
Luigi's Mansion 1 has an iconic theme, but my problem is that it has ONE THEME for the WHOLE MANSION. Sure, it's a much shorter mansion, so there's no danger of it getting old. But to me, Dark Moon has the better background music because each mansion has its own song, each entirely unique and interesting. And heck, the one theme that is considered the game's "main theme" has a remix befitting of each mansion. Granted, those remixes are reserved for the repetitive time attack missions with a couple exceptions, but they're still good remixes that get me jazzed for ghost hunting.
And when it comes to battle music, I have a problem with your argument. Yeah, LM1 had the ticking numbers to go with the music, but when you played the Dark Moon ghost sucking music, you didn't put in the part that gives that music its impact: the electric suction sounds that accompany filling up the meter for the suction burst. That's the part that completes the theme for me, like with the ticking numbers from LM1. But hey, honestly, between each game's battle music, they're about equal to my ears. There's nothing wrong with either of them to me.
And with the E Gadd cell phone theme, yeah, I agree. He calls you way too much, but I still want that to be my ringtone.
But hey, this is the first video of yours that I've watched, and I really liked it.
Here's to Luigi's Mansion 3 bringing the best of both games to the table!

I’m definitely one of the rare people that genuinely enjoyed Dark Moon. It was my introduction into Luigi’s Mansion since I never owned a GameCube as a kid. I’d argue I enjoyed it more than the 1st one, and even more than what I played of the 3rd one. Easily my favorite 3DS game, it’s just comfy and welcoming to play.

Dark Moon may have used strings too much, sure, but you can’t deny the music is more memorable as a whole. Except for the main theme of the original, which makes its way into the sequel too.
What would've been a better ending would be the Dark Moon gets obliterated at the end, but the ghost are so grateful Luigi defeated King Boo, who was turning the ghosts into monsters, against their will; decide to continue to help E.Gadd.

When compared to the original, it's hard to say what is better. The classic feel of the original is phenomenal... and Dark Moon's is so different, yet still great in its own way.
I'm glad Luigi's Mansion 3 is looking to be a mix of the two. I'm betting Portrait Ghosts will return as guests in the hotel, and I'm hoping the music uses a perfect blend of orchestration and spooky electronic sounds.
I disagree with your stance on Scarescraper though. I've spent hours on it. It's so much fun for me. Cooperating with random people online, while spouting out the hilarious "help help" "He-ey" and "Good Job" all the time. I really hope it comes to Luigi's Mansion 3, but with more modes and options. The original was going to have characters other than Luigi, but they wanted the game to be playable via Download Play, so they had to use something that didn't take as much space. They also weren't gonna make the rooms so simplistic and randomly generated. I think there needs to be some form of Random Generation, but is they could get a lot more layouts and multiple floors and room ideas in Scarescraper for Luigi's Mansion 3, that would be amazing. And with the New addition to the Nintendo Switch Online app, you would be able to speak with the strangers you are playing with using the app. I'm so excited, I really hope they use this potential.

Gameplay, personality and story is better than the original, but the original had better atmosphere and had a bit more memoriable and surprising moments. I'd say dark moon is by far the supierior game, but the original is more unique in its presentation, which is its biggest upside, and the main reason why its my favorite game.

@@MrMetalforever5 Tell that to the Ice Monster and King Boo, those 2 were pretty damn scary in Dark moon, (albeit the only scary character's/moments) King Boo's new design in my opinion works quite well (I'd argue better than the original but that's up for debate) the purple with the extra teeth along with the lighting make Dark Moon King Boo still pretty terrifying especially at jumpscare moments or when he's in your face.
and the Ice Monster I feel like Rad could have been nicer too since it's a pretty new dynamic of being a first person shooter and is actually hard for a Luigi's mansion boss. As well as the Ice Monster's face and roar's also be pretty scary and when he tries to suck you in, the formation of the face the laughing when you miss a bomb, both you (Luigi/the player) and the Ice Monster going deeper and deeper into the ice pit all the while with the constant pressure of the Turret overheating causing an automatic game over gave me chills, fear and made me paranoid about the turret overheating.
Luigi's mansion dark moon defiantly felt less scary from the first, however, those 2 bosses are some good notable parts in my opinion.

I feel like the first game had an effective sense of dread--the ghosts were legitimately intimidating, insomuch that I probably would have reacted in much the same way as Luigi did in a lot of situations. And the game over screen was terrifying--what exactly did the ghosts do to make that dead expression on Luigi's face? Much more sinister than a KO. The mansion itself was old, dark, and unsettling, rather than being cute and relatively inviting as in Dark Moon. The fear and desperation you felt from Luigi when his HP dropped was contagious and unnerving; the way his tone of voice changed quite startling. The ambiance between the two games is literally the difference between night and day.

I think if they'd just had portrait ghosts to end levels, or every other level, and cut down on the repeated F****NG DOG MISSIONS it would have been better. Yeah, that's right, I didn't mind escorting toad, cause he actually got to be part of the puzzle solving. Also, you can't not love firing the little fungus around like a cannonball.
I mean, I guess the lack of portrait ghosts made the first game unique. But the style of the first game just made it feel more, spooky and strangely comfy. The fine details and the darkness just made it feel really nice? I don't know how to describe it, but it's good.
The personalities of the ghost also helped with the first game too. The ghosts in the first game felt, mean and actually scary.
Luigi's Mansion 2 is a good game but I just feel like it would make it 3x better if they kept the same attitude, atmosphere, and theme from the first game.

We need Dark Moon no matter what. If we didn't get Dark Moon, Luigi wouldn't have adopted polterpup. And it is just too adorable. It's a ghost dog that somehow both feels like an actual dog, and a ghost, at least in the third game. The way it just shows up and seems excited to see Lugii and then jumps throuh a door, it's just great

Luigis mansion 3 looks like its in a tall haunted hotel (or at least, the luggage, and hallway cleaning supplies makes it look that way), so i hope each floor has like, one or two special "residents" or something to fill the portrait ghosts role based on activities only on that floor. like a dining area, maybe a theater, pool, etc.
The verticality of the mansion this time can lead to a lot of ideas with elevators and general methods of getting to each floor. like maybe the elevator refuses to go past the floor you are on so you have to take the spooky endless stairs to fix it from above, maybe you have to climb out a window and use a creepy fire escape to get around it to the next floor. or maybe you skip a floor and have to go through the pipes to get back down to it.
Point is, i just want to see what they do

The multiplayer mode is the most fun mode for me.
You tackle alot of great points and have a good idea of showing yourself and gameplay.
The Multiplayer in my experience was terrible. Nobody wanted to work together and people kept on dropping off. I really left the game there because I couldn't complete it without the ghosts, but everything else was fun, tedious at times, but fun.

I think Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon's biggest draw is the fact that there's so much replayability. I recently went back to play the original Luigi's Mansion, beat it in practically an hour, and have nothing to go back to. I pretty much used up Luigi's Mansion, but I still feel like Dark Moon gives me more that I can have fun with.
Honestly, if they toned down the personalities of the ghosts and made them more scary than playful kind of like in the first one, better controls, and did better with the music this game would have been much better. I agree that the portrait ghost made the first game so great along with an amazing soundtrack, the final battle with king boo in dark moon honestly could have worked so much better the part where you have to run away from him made for really good imagery that reflected the first game, but the arena part made it feel childish again which sure it’s a Luigi game, but god did the final battle in the first one made it feel like the stakes where high!

I remember as a kid being afraid to play the first game, but then once I got the first floor to get it's lights back on, I felt this sense of relief and that I really accomplished something (another reason why an open mansion is better than level based missions).

That was because you where a kid I seen kids get scared of regular Mario ghost houses and even darkmoon itself so saying it scared you as a kid is not saying much. But it is a bit creeper overall.

We got the Canadian PAL releases, meaning we got NTSC names on a PAL game with the Australian rating system (G, PG, M, etc.). This stopped with the Wii, as we got Epic Yarn with European voice clips, as well as Rainbow Paintbrush instead of Rainbow Curse, and this meant all the Virtual Console releases of the DS titles were the EU versions (and therefore incorrect).

I absolutely loved playing the multiplayer mode with my friends. The fact that not everyone needed the cartridge to play the multiplayer was really awesome, and me and my friends would play for hours with each other.
I personally disagree with you on the music. It's really good, and I didn't even know it was all orchestra until you mentioned it. I hope Luigi's Mansion 3 combines the best aspects of both games to make one of the most fun games on the Switch!
The Dual Scream ringtone is so memorable; I *still* hum it, to this day, due to how simple it is.
It's one of two songs to really embed themselves into my brain, alongside OoT's Zelda's Lullaby.

Is there a reason why 3DS capture cards only work with the OG small 3DS and OG 2DS? Every RUclipsr says that they can only use the original 3DS to capture footage.
They make capture cards for the new 3DS but they're way more expensive. I only got a 2DS capture card because it was the cheapest one, but even still it cost a looooot.
Yea, the portrait ghosts are definitely a must. I have the 2nd game on my shelf behind me and I don't think I got past the 2nd mansion. I hated the mission system and how lights could get turned on again even tho I had already cleared that room.
