I had this figure when I was really little and absolutely loved him. Sometime this past year he was misplaced and I’ve missed him so much! I messed around with it for so long I had the steps memorized. I’ve been trying to ID it for so long, and finally found this video today. It may be too late for me to find a replacement (new ones are +$100 and I can’t find any old) but it’s nice to finally have a video reference from when I look it up!
Personally, I prefer this mould of Bumblebee as Hot Shot, while using the First Edition Bumblebee as Bumblebee. That way, I get to enjoy both moulds and not have to purchase two Bumblebees, therefore saving me money.
I'm pretty sure the rid figures have no faction logos because they are robots in disguise. Can't exactly act inconspicuous if you have an Autobot or Decepticon badge in plain sight.
@optibotimus I dunno...I think the blue on Hot Shot and the flip up visor for him kinda makes the mold work. And hey, at least they didn't repaint it into yet ANOTHER Bumblebee...
Hey Optibotimus, here is something that I kind of found out. If you color the piece behind Bee's head black (with a Sharpie marker), the piece is not as noticeable. I'm not sure if this is just me but I think it looks a lot better.
I just picked one up at a convention today, I love everything about the figure except for the fact that the leg pops out of the hip after being rotated. I'm sure it's just a result of wear and aging though
Thank you for clearing it up and elaborate. The story you provided adds a different perspective and I revise my opinions of earlier. But it does prove your words can be interpreted in various ways. I understand the guy had it coming, but when over 30,000 people read the comments, some might interpret our message like I did. You are one of the most prominent people in the online tf community and it would be a shame you'd lose fans over people interpreting things different from how you meant them.
i have this bumblebee but i broke the door/wing in robot mode it looks like battle damage in car mode you can see the insides and that is why i don't like to have it in car mode anymore. still a great figure and fun to have.
This thing is a shelf warmer here where I live. Went to Target and saw like 10 Bumblebees. Hasbro doesn't get that people don't want a thousand Bumblebees. They should pack less in a case:(
@optibotimus The head piece can stay down without the mod, peaugh shows it and so does mine. The head doesn't actually catch on those last to teeth on the gear piece.
The revealers are a 50/50 with me. on one hand it seems they corrected issues on the First Editions at the expence of what they got right the first time around. The biggest issue to me on these though(at TRU at least) is the $14.99 price tag vs the $10.99 point on the first editions. I've been tempted on Soundwave & Wheeljack but on characters I already have, it doesn't make me wanna spring twice for a smaller simpler version.
Great review, the yellow plate behind Bumblebee's neck is suppose to be a nod to the G1 Bumblebee the toy not the cartoon, Battle Blades Bumblebee has that too how can you not see that's cool.
Good comparison @optibotimus. I'm trying to review the full set of Prime Cyberverse and 4 RiDs (Wheeljack [on my channel], Bulkhead, Soundwave, Starscream) and only place in UK that sells them is Argos-it's a lucky dip as to what they order in tho! :(
After seeing this (and the head mod) I may actually get this figure (besides, I'm a TFP Bumblebee fan). After seeing pictures I really hated this figure, but that was mainly due to being spoiled with the First Edition, and him being the only Prime figure I could find in stores. But now I'm reconsidering. If I can't find any figures next time I go shopping, I'll probably end up getting this guy.
How come the Deluxe figures have recently got smaller, and raised in price? We are getting less for more money! Deluxe figures used to be bigger than this, and cost about £9.99, now they have been shrunk down and they cost £13
I still don't really understand why these remolds exist. I understand that the first editions were limited, but why go through all the trouble of remolding/repainting figures when you have perfectly good ones already? I get that fes would have different packaging and paint, but I don't...get this...
wow that toy is perfect for my 6 years old boy in therm of size and complexity. Anyone know if they did a Optimus prime that simple to transform with that size ? thank you.
@optibotimus Also I'm not sure if you answered this question in the video, I watched it and I don't remember seeing it, but do the 2 new guns fit on the FE? If they do that'll be the selling point for me
@MeganFox2012 Hehehe, that sounds really cute~ I recommend getting Gundam Paint Markers to do it, but I'm not an expert on repainting Transformers figures. Those Gundam Paint Markers work well enough for me though. You could get a red one and a pink one, and paint over the yellow and black with them respectively. Though, Goldbug was an actual character in the original television series. Bumblebee was injured, and got upgraded in the process, into Goldbug~
Me personally, Soundwave! This Bumblebee is crappy compared to Wave, and if you want a Bumblebee, you can order the better First Edition off of HTS for 12.
Maybe the first editions got tanked because retailers didn't like the lack of play accessories? On the whole are kids bothered about show accuracy? And that's who the line is aimed at really. Prime is a expensive show and selling just to core collectors, isn't gonna cut it for hasbro, I feel. That said, I don't see why hasbro didn't do rid for kids and first editions for the older collector. Great review as always. Keep up the good work
i think hasbro should bring out a line just for collectors, because with all there figures they got to think of the kids and add in crap gimmicks and suck, do you agree with me on this paul ?
Hey, mind if I ask a question? I'm thinking about buying a PRIME Bumblebee, but I can't decide between 1st edition Bee or RID Bee. I found both for a really good price each, but I only want one. Which one do you recommend?
i dont like this figure, i saw it in the store and i choose to get a ratchet over it because of his details. i got a TFP starscream coming in soon that i bought off the internet. btw do you think they will come out with a voyager Breakdown figure, since he was in most of the TFP episodes?
To finish what I was saying. Im not saying this is a bad figure. Not at all. I just don't see why they do that. Another example is the Movie line. The line for the first Transformers movie were pretty decent. Some of them were great. Like Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, and Blackout. Then the second movie and line are released and the figures were FANTASTIC. I mean really, to me, they were. But the Bumblebee wasn't all that good.
Just got him yesterday. LOVE IT!! Mine doesn't have the problem with his head sitting up to high. I have no regrets buying this figure!!
Lucky you!
Do you still have it?
I had this figure when I was really little and absolutely loved him. Sometime this past year he was misplaced and I’ve missed him so much! I messed around with it for so long I had the steps memorized. I’ve been trying to ID it for so long, and finally found this video today. It may be too late for me to find a replacement (new ones are +$100 and I can’t find any old) but it’s nice to finally have a video reference from when I look it up!
Damn this is realy old figure! I've got it since then and still looks amazing and has no problems, just like the day i got it.
my arm recently broke off mine 😔
Personally, I prefer this mould of Bumblebee as Hot Shot, while using the First Edition Bumblebee as Bumblebee. That way, I get to enjoy both moulds and not have to purchase two Bumblebees, therefore saving me money.
Bumblebee is a warrior
I'm pretty sure the rid figures have no faction logos because they are robots in disguise. Can't exactly act inconspicuous if you have an Autobot or Decepticon badge in plain sight.
I ordered mine off Amazon for £39.99 but it is missing the arms and the blasters, but it is still a good figure which displays well in my room
@optibotimus I dunno...I think the blue on Hot Shot and the flip up visor for him kinda makes the mold work. And hey, at least they didn't repaint it into yet ANOTHER Bumblebee...
pòòooooooooooooòp
I found this at a garage sale without the weapons and its the only transformer i have that i havent lost or parts of it
Hey Optibotimus, here is something that I kind of found out. If you color the piece behind Bee's head black (with a Sharpie marker), the piece is not as noticeable. I'm not sure if this is just me but I think it looks a lot better.
The tiny part on Bummblebee's head where it should be black you can take a pen sharpie and fill it in so it looks right.
I just picked one up at a convention today, I love everything about the figure except for the fact that the leg pops out of the hip after being rotated. I'm sure it's just a result of wear and aging though
actully the arm problem is not a problem cause the're are acurate to the show.
I had both RiD and First Edition Bumblebee and I like FE Bumblebee better
They are both great figures and I’m gonna get the rid one cause I can’t get the fe one cause it’s overpriced as hell...
Thank you for clearing it up and elaborate. The story you provided adds a different perspective and I revise my opinions of earlier. But it does prove your words can be interpreted in various ways. i think that he has no autobot logo because is robots in disguise.
true... and RiD does have a more variation of figures (including Dreadwing and Breakdown which are coming in voyager :D)
You know on the sow his doors open going up so they should put a ball joint so in robot mode it angles up and in car mode it opens up correctley. :D
I wish bumblebee has a reprolabels figure so it looks show accurate
Badly damaged by Megatron when he defeated him with the saber his voice is restored by the cybermater raf was a friend even though he a scout warrior.
in my personal opinion this is my favorite bumblebee figure.
I remember having one just like this but it got lost in Switzerland in a beach
Althought I like more from 1st version this is not bad at all. Besides that automorph is kinda well done and nice addition.
Thanks for the shout out, nice review.
so far first edition bumblebee is the only one i NEED to have over the mass retail version. this is just horrendous looking. GAH those shoulders!!!
goodie... another Bumblebee. Leaning towards the Hotshot version.
He transforms a lot like DotM Mechtech Bumblebee.
People on amazon complain about this tons but personally I don't mind this figure.
My Bumblebees head was already down and I bought it brand new from Walmart
Bumblebee has kinda become an unofficial shelfwarmer. lol
Steftimus Prime Shelfwarmer?
i have this bumblebee but i broke the door/wing in robot mode it looks like battle damage in car mode you can see the insides and that is why i don't like to have it in car mode anymore. still a great figure and fun to have.
What I don't like is the thing on the back of his head.

@optibotimus You could say your job is your hobby, You have a jobby? lmao haha :P
@optibotimus i know that but i mean hasbro should, not everyone has the money to ship a $200-$300 figure half way round the world plus shipping.
first edition he costs ten bucks without shipping from tfsource or bbts and rid cost about ten bucks at stores with tax .
Those things in the middle of the tires are caled hubcads
Great review, the yellow plate behind Bumblebee's neck is suppose to be a nod to the G1 Bumblebee the toy not the cartoon, Battle Blades Bumblebee has that too how can you not see that's cool.
Yours and Peaughs reviews have changed my mind on this figure, though I'm still stickin with my FE.
who would you recommend Bumblebee or Sound wave?
@optibotimus do the weapons on bumblebee, or any other Transformers Prime figures' weapons, fit on other figures like the DOTM figures
I still haven't gotten the first edition at my Wal Mart, there isn't a Toys R Us or Target reasonably close to my house...
If I can't find any figures next time I go shopping, I'll probably end up getting this guy.
i have this guy and i dont mind it all that much.
Now that I've really looked at this guy, he's not so bad, I mean, I'd obviously prefer the FE, but the RiD will do in a pinch, I suppose.
wow... but the only thing with ironhide is that he doesnt appear in the actual show... but if he did he would interfere with bulkhead slightly :/
the first addition looks much better than the deluxe class much much better than that one
How come the Deluxe figures have recently got smaller, and raised in price?
We are getting less for more money!

Yes you can.
When a million of these are on the pegs, and when HTS still has the First Edition, order the FE instead! XD
man i swear soooo many bumblebees on the shelves
so, why did they get rid of the first edition molds and release these for general retail?
Please do the RID Bulkhead as soon as you get your hands on it. Thanks :)
wow that toy is perfect for my 6 years old boy in therm of size and complexity. Anyone know if they did a Optimus prime that simple to transform with that size ? thank you.
@optibotimus Also I'm not sure if you answered this question in the video, I watched it and I don't remember seeing it, but do the 2 new guns fit on the FE? If they do that'll be the selling point for me
I had this figure but it broke also I can't believe that this video came out 11 years ago
I got the hot shot and the mod was already applied for mine
I just can't seem to get over the shoulders on either Bumblebee...
do you plan on getting the rid optimus prime voyager class? i wanna see how it is cuz i cant find the first edition anywhere.
The RID silhouette looks better than FE imo
AAAARRRHGGH.... this figure was shelfwarmed horribly at my local Wal-Mart for months. I haven't been there in a while, and I bet it's still thete
@MeganFox2012 Hehehe, that sounds really cute~
I recommend getting Gundam Paint Markers to do it, but I'm not an expert on repainting Transformers figures. Those Gundam Paint Markers work well enough for me though. You could get a red one and a pink one, and paint over the yellow and black with them respectively.

We can repaint him as autobot evac.
@optibotimus
Well that is good. At least we will have a chance to get them another time.
which is better in vehicle mode (meaning paintaps, size and overall look), First Edition or RID?
You can move the arm because I have the same bumblebee
i think the car would look a lot better with silver wheels
kwaw official Maybe you can paint those wheels yourself, if you have that figure, that is.
I'm ordering an dark energon bumblebee RID
@Celdrach Thats a great idea i was thinking of getting 2 and repainting one pink and calling it ladybug
I will go for the rid verison.
same
issac sanfir waaaaat! It doesn't even have a autobot logo!
o yea cliffjumper RiD is actually (in my opinion) nicer than the first edition
I had this before when I was little but one year he broke but I was able to get one on ebay for a good price
FIRST EDITION... FIRST EDITION ALWAYS
I know I'm probably gonna catch holy hell for this but... I'm gonna get two Bumblebees, and repaint one gold, and call him Goldbug.
Bumblebee is my favorite transformer.
Me personally, Soundwave! This Bumblebee is crappy compared to Wave, and if you want a Bumblebee, you can order the better First Edition off of HTS for 12.
i love this figure

My BB is missing those silver "arrow" paint apps above the feet on one of the legs. Anyone else?
Its transformatinon is extremely similar to 07 Old camaro bumblebee.
Did you ever get the RiD airachnid
i have a black version of the RID Bumblebee
no the night ops
Terrorcon
ya I got it too but my little bro broke his arm
The Webster mines arm broke too
Illegal Poptart cool!
2 twin blasters. YAY!
Hey buddy, what you think of the Fall Of Cybertron figures? That Shockwave looks pretty schweet
i think hasbro should bring out a line just for collectors, because with all there figures they got to think of the kids and add in crap gimmicks and suck, do you agree with me on this paul ?
optibotimus, how did u modify rid bumblebee?
Hey, mind if I ask a question? I'm thinking about buying a PRIME Bumblebee, but I can't decide between 1st edition Bee or RID Bee. I found both for a really good price each, but I only want one. Which one do you recommend?
First Edition all the way.
***** nizi
no i am 12
shut up
on carp sorry
are you kiding me ? over were i live the dotm toys are only like $7.00
They made a retro pant and retool of him get hot shot
well how do you get to your live shows ive been wondering for a while
i dont like this figure, i saw it in the store and i choose to get a ratchet over it because of his details. i got a TFP starscream coming in soon that i bought off the internet.

You forgot to show off the guns for the robot mode
is it possible to swap the heads of the RID and FE?
so cool and good
one think that i don't understand about gaming or toy making companies that why bad, if can be good
