Believe it was very faintly played during goku's awakening at the end of the episode. Usually how this stuff works is a solo producer drops a song for dragon ball and the anime decides if they wanna use it or not, so they did use it but very faintly. Alot of people were dissapointed with toei's decision so they made AMVS using the song to make it more meaningful
