One small issue with mine is that the car has a tendency to steer much further one way than the other. I resolved the issue by modifying the transmitter (of all things). Perhaps other people haven't encountered that problem, but as it's the only issue I've found I'd say the car is still excellent value for money.
@@AMPROEngineering yeah, but it has the paintjob and headlights are black. So it is kind of a intermediate between 1st and 2nd gen. Such a bummer, no spare drift wheels, plastic drive train, no gyro, less turn :(
@@AMPROEngineering I just slid some rubber tyres over the drift wheels so I can go from drift to grip real quick. Gonna try this out myself as It still drifts with smooth rubber tyres on. I'm really Loving this car.
Dude, thanks for posting this review. Please please make those wheels you designed available on your Shapeways. I've been an AE86 fan since forever and you've done a great job with designing them. I've just bought a one of these LDRC cars (due to your review of the RX7) and would love to put your wheels on there.
@@AMPROEngineering yeah I got a feeling it's stuck. Really needs force. I changed the rears back to stock because I like a full matching set and one of those got stuck too. Had to give it more force to pull it off whereas the opposite side just slid off. Thanks for the reply. I enjoy your videos.
@@AMPROEngineering thanks for your help. Finally done it. Had to pop of the suspension and leave the lower one on to pop of the front wheels off the hex. They were on that tight. Finally got a new set of rims on.
I have uploaded the Corolla GTS and the Initial D style wheels to MyMiniFactory. It might take a couple days to get verified. There are links in the description.
Certifique-se de que a bateria esteja carregada. Além disso, eu tive que desvinculá-los. Ligue primeiro o rádio e depois o carro. Gire o volante até que o carro responda. Caso contrário, verifique as instruções para reconectar o carro e o rádio.
@@AMPROEngineering Ron is right. RWD needs a gyro. You know how if you're in a real car and you let go of the wheel while turning it will want to rebound the opposite way? When you're drifting a real car, you let go of the wheel and let it follow into the slide on its own until you reached desired angle, or need some correction. You don't get this feedback in an rc car. The gyro does the countersteering a real car will naturally do.
Good day sir, what's the difference between those tags on banggood between the "red" only and "red with gyro", does the "red" comes only without any gyro? Thanks boss, good video and I have to say that your terrible drifting is so much better than mine 😂
Yes you are correct, there is a cheaper version with no Gyro. If you are new to drifting, I HIGHLY recommend thy Gyro version. It is impressive how bad my drifting is!
I doubt any 1:18 model can drift well, but you need to 1. stop stabbing the throttle; be smooth, and 2. expecting the car to drift when you let off. Cars drift by spinning the rear tires. Neat model, though.
Just got one from amazon except it has no gyro. I may return it. I was mislead this model has gyro. But sure enough on the description, no gyro mentioned. Not a good business model. Be careful friends.
Rc drifting is weird..you always throttle..no brakes..to initiate a slide you give more throttle. When you slow down ..you end up gripping up and losing control.
That fujiwara ae86 build is so detailed! Im getting one and paint it panda style aswell
Thank you! I cannot believe how well it came out given how it started.
The updates are what was needed on this car to make it perform. Just ordered one on sale for $43! Perfect for a rainy day.
Totally. This car was a huge leap but the RX7 and NSX are even better.

The one thing that annoys me with these cars is how cheap that transmitter feels. Mine all work fine so I hate to complain but...man....
Yaay...another AMPRO Engineering video! I'm seriously considering this model after the upgrades!
It really is a cool car.
I got one that was produced in April 2024. It has the paint job, but lacks stickers and has old chassis
That may be the 1st gen if there is no Gyro.
@@AMPROEngineering yeah, but it has the paintjob and headlights are black. So it is kind of a intermediate between 1st and 2nd gen. Such a bummer, no spare drift wheels, plastic drive train, no gyro, less turn :(
That really looks like a cool little car. Not to mention a cool chassis to possibly take some 1:18 models we may have to the next level
It really is. It is a lot better than the original and they are really upping their game fast!
Try putting some rubber tires up front so it doesn't understeer. That always helps me out.
No kidding? Ill give it a shot!

I will do that! Wheels are easy but the tires need an FDM. Ill figure something out.
I just bought the black and red corolla. Can't wait for it to show up
I will have them on MyMiniFactory. Shapeways is sadly gone. I am trying to get all this going on the new site and its been slow going!
I just got my NSX and I'm pretty happy with it. I wish they would make a Nissan s13.
They may very well do that. It is a popular car and within the era they are working with.
Please, Can you show how to change the wheels. I cant get the front wheels off to change them.
There is one screw in the middle and the wheel slides off. Maybe yours is just stuck?

Yah, I need one of these. So much packed into a small platform.
Yeah it is impressive.
That awesome little drifter will look amazing on my trx4m car trailer
Dude that would be so cool!
Can you please put the 3d printed link

I liked the previous version, I love this one. All it needs now is a gyro and some suspension tweeks and viola, 1/18th scale drift goodness. :D
I love the first one too. This does have a gyro now though the first one did not.
@@AMPROEngineering Nice! I tried to find the new version somewhere I felt safe ordering from and so far no luck. I want to try it and PAINT it :D
I have seen that car on ali. Great video very informative.. Thanks..👍
It is surprising how good it is.
@@AMPROEngineering Just got the little 20 dollar cargo truck this looked like a similar rig very cool.. Thanks brother.
Looking forward to the Alfa conversion!

Any update on this ? Have you learned rc drifting? What it needs?
I am building the car into a different car at the moment, hahah! I will be at the track with a few of them soon.
It has gyro like the rx7? Or both are the same?
The RX7 is the better one. Upgraded chassis and a little bigger.
Was it a built in gyro or is it removable?
On mine it was an additional part but i do not know if the electrical is the same on current models. No idea if they swapped anything.
I really like AE86,but I can't wait to see it as Gulietta ... 🤤
Me too!
I seen you pic in the Rc magazine so cool u make some awesome vintage Rc cars cool stuff keep on trucking
Well thank you! It is really all good fun to design these parts.
Btw you need gyros to drift rwd models. Only 4wd models dont need gyro.
I think that is based on skill, lol

The car does have a rear ball differential.
It does? Mine didnt seem to.

I really want it can i? It's the upgrade
There are not many upgrades available at the moment but I think they will make some soon as they are very popular.

Did you order the V1? That one never had a Gyro.
Minimal rwd drifting experience you would know it won’t even be driveable without the gyro.
Well good thing it has one.
Needs a gyro forsure.
It has one but i felt I wasnt great with it still.
