I actually had bad experience when I bought this model couple days ago, the cab rear brackets are damaged and passenger side mud flap was bended forward, I have contact the customer services and they agree to send me replcement parts to fix the issue, over all, it is a great budget RC truck with locking differential function. I like it very much!
Yeah it is a new company and they just lack the QC that others have. They will get better. This is night and day from the last one.
Those QC issues just put me off buying this.
Love seeing these companies listen to us for our input to make their product better and our experience more enjoyable. WPL did the same with the C74, the new Bay Blue version has lots of improvements that we all chimed in on. Great review man!
Amazing right? Makes you wonder why more dont....
I love my LD1201! The quality control issues I found on mine were the windshield wiper holes and the Mercedes emblem holes had to be opened up. I also had issues with the rear diff not unlocking, which required adjusting the servo horn(?).
I ordered some thicker leaf springs because I feel like the rear springs are too soft to support any cargo in the bed. I also changed my battery plug to Deans and ordered some cheap 1500 mah batteries so I can charge from a decent charger.
Mine didnt even have holes for the emblem! I assumed it was just some random part they threw in so I cut the studs and glued it. Yeah I do not like that unique battery but now I have 5 of them so it is all good atm! The rear springs are too soft for a load but i could not get over how good it was on uneven surfaces.
@@AMPROEngineering I found the emblem holes from the back side of the grill because the front was smooth. Ended up spinning a small drill bit by hand to open the holes, pressed in the emblem, then I used CA tire glue to hold it permanently.
Those locking diff's are so cool!
I built a Unimog 404 on a WPL C14 chassis(3D printed cab and all) I recently got metal portal axles, as the plastic ones kept braking. I hope one day LDRC or a third party will make a 1/16 scale full metal portal axles with locking diffs!
Yeah it really is. I was surprised given how small it is.
Great Review.. Truck seems pretty solid minor QA issues like you said but a good little rig.. Thanks for sharing.. Appreciate the videos..😎💯👍
Yeah it was a bummer but compared to the QC of the first one, it is much improved.
Der Platz ist Spitze 😊 genau richtig fuer den coolen Unimog 👍
Ja, es ist sehr schön hier und der Unimog war wunderbar.
What a great video! Thanks for your work. I got mine after seeing Tomley's video but yours are lot more detailed. My truck was mostly great, except the right rear leaf spring's weaker than the left one, so the truck bed was kinda lopsided.
It didn't have dampers from the factory, and I didn't like the jumping and bobbing ride too much, so I ordered WPL shock mounts and added four oil-filled dampers to it. It's a bit of fiddling since no suspension parts were readily available for this brilliant truck yet. I had to make some shock bushings by putting heat shrinks on mounting bolts, but it ended up nicely. Would love to see you do this damper job as a professional.
Keep up the great work!
Tomley is harder on his cars so that is good to see what happens when they are beat on. Seems like you too are doing some of the engineering on this. Very good to hear! This is common for a company so new and I look forward to what they do from here! I really want a heat sink for those motors though. Way too hot.
@@AMPROEngineering great analysis of the truck, as usual.
Did you find a heat sink and/or better/more efficient or powerful motors?
As promised!!! Excellent as usual. ❤️
Thank you! It is really good isnt it!?
Mine arrived at the weekend. No separate metal gears, no badge. QC : the front driveshaft was sticking and messing with the suspension. I gave the inner part of the driveshaft a light sanding and it runs smooth now. Tire glue (?) poor quality, mine need regluing, but that will let me add some weight to the wheels. No grease in the portals.
I found the first version did not have grease in the portals also. They need to focus on QC.
Recently bought mine. Didn't come with metal gears in the box. Took the transmission apart and found it has only plastic gears. Has a few issues. One of the cables was not working. Installed incorrectly. Front suspension was sticking but found that it was cause by the drive shaft sticking. Sanding the plastic driveshaft a little fixed it. QC isn't as good as MN and WPL.
Would like to see the later model body shape and would defo get one so here's hoping top review as always buddy!
Thank you!
looks amazing , i wonder if you could fit wpl wheel weights to it to reduce the tendency to tip over , maybe even just wrap some solder round the rims .
I think these wheels are larger but I could not remove them since they are glued. That would surely have helped.
I have the original P-06. It does not operate "top heavy" imho
Don't see a problem with tipping in the vid.
Great video. I recently bought one myself but I haven't done any mods yet. I'll probably take a hard pass on the purple interior 🙂
I have been doing a lot to it. This thing has been great to run. I am really surprised at the improvements they made over the last one.
That is a pretty cool rig.
I was blown away. It is like night and day from the first version.
You always do awesome videos and thank you.
What size are the rims and tires??
Thank you! I wish I knew, I tried to take the tires off but they are totally glued on there. I would say larger than 1"
AMpro love your content,, is heir a chance you could do a video on the electrics in this board layout and what not, as im looking to buy extra motor, board and locking diff axels for my p06 model
The board is identical to the p06 with more ports populated. I will need to take mine apart again and compare. My plan is to transplant the body i detailed on the p06 to place on this one.
Another Great Video...I gotta say I'm not liking the remote though.....
Me either but when you are using it, you tend to forget since it works well.
Awesome video! Do you know what's going on inside the axels? Metal or plastic? Thanks!
I think these have metal gears but I have torn this apart for a build and dont have access to the axles atm!
@AMPROEngineering awesome! Thanks for the reply and good luck with the build!
Nice review but:
First, it is not 1:12 scale! It is closer to 1:16 scale, which is a more common used scale for rc trucks.
Second, steering, the steering rod should be behind the front axle, for the right steering, and then the wheels are to far out from the axis they turn on. This results in the front wheels moving back and forward wheel turning left or right.
Third: wheels are not turning in a straight line, they wobble to much.
Al these issues can be solved, because the main base of this truck is great to use. But why didn't the manufacturer took a bit more time to get it right from the start. Why would you say it is 1:12 scale when it is clear to see that it is not.
Well this is way bigger than a 1/16 car. WPL makes a lot of 1/'16 cars and this is huge by comparison. The way "scale" is used now is dumb anyway. Traxxas calls the Bronco 1/10 and if you calculate it, its almost 1/7. Annoying. This is a hell of an upgrade from the original one (i have that one here also) and while far from perfect, it is an awesome truck.
Great video. Do you guys make replacement parts for Comical Grasshoppers?
Thank you! No we do not at the moment.
The bed just seems too long. If I bought it . I would try and make it shorter, but try not to ruin the folding part. Either way I probably would wait until they work out all the QC Issues.
It does seem a lil long. They are getting better by the day and if V1 and this, V2 are any indication, we should see some amazing stuff soon.
I have not seen anyone discussing that custom battery connector.
I assume it's a 2s battery. I wonder whether we can add a JST (red) or Deans while turning that black custom connector (I saw 3 wires) into the balancing port...
I have talked about that in a few earlier videos on this brands cars. I don't like it. I mean I understand why they did it since it is simpler but they are not compatible with other brands. On the car side, yeah, change the plug. As for the battery, You would need to rewire it and given how cheap 2S batteries, are, I wouldn't bother. They are 18650 LiIon cells wired in series are 3.6V nominal.
@@AMPROEngineering oh, I just realised that while the battery has 3 wires, the car only has 2. Now I understand it.
Anyway, even though I don't like it because is non standard, it seems a pretty smart design.
I think the P06 is one of the two RCs I regret buying
Maybe I should try getting some parts from this to upgrade mine to be closer in spec.
Or go for different electronics, not sure what the best way would be
Yeah the 1201 is so much better than the P06. That was really simple and kinna cheap but this thing is such a massive improvement.
@@AMPROEngineering Out of curiosity, are you able to confirm, is the motor connection on this still just two micro jst plugged into a splitter? Looked for a manual to find the best way to wire my P06 with the 1201 board but can't find it
is it water proof out the box or did you mod it
I did not mod it and I only got the axles wet which I do not like doing. I do not know if this is water proof and would assume it is not.
I did not get the electronics wet so it was totally out of the box. Honestly I hate getting axles wet either.
cant wate to make a mold so it look like a dakar unimog
That would be epic.
Hi! Love your channel.. i am planning to buy this RC. Was wondering how it would look like on a HBX16889 wheel?
Thank you! I do not think that will fit at all. This needs something smaller and very, very soft.
@@AMPROEngineeringthanks for your respond! *fanboy cry* lol.. do you have any recommendation on what sort of wider wheel that can fit? i was looking at this ruclips.net/video/ARfzb3XkAhE/видео.html that had MN128 and HBX16889 wheel which looks really badass. was thinking of adding the same wheel on LDRC 1201 but since you said it wont fit, now i'm on the fence if i should get LDRC 1201 Unimog or MN128.
@@AMPROEngineering Thanks for responding! :) what about WPL C24? will it fit with the HBX 16889 wheel?
