Hello. A complete conversion of the electronics would be interesting. I also ordered an AE86 to start learning RC Drifting. Thanks for the informative reviews. 🤙🏻
Hello I am so glad I started watching your channel you got me into rc drifting and I’m going to my first track this Sunday I’m so nervous 😬 😅 but I would love to see a full upgrade in one and see a driving comparison ❤
Great video troy, nice to see you went and got another to compare with, never know a electronics swap may take it to another level, worth giving some thought too!!
Hi Troy! The two cars I have which are the same as yours (only I have the red NSX) Had all the same little issues yours did which I also remedied as well. The wheel alignment is very key whether front or rear to get that rubbing reduced if not removed. On both cars the the rear tires were out of alignment. The NSX was the worse of the two. it was nice to see though that there was quite a bit of adjustability to get them all squared up. I really like that! i removed all the suspension limiters under the control arms as they seemed to hinder the handling more than help it, these cars are pretty low anyways. Really enjoyed your video on these! They are are a great way to get into real 2wd rc Drifting!😊💯💢
@@RoadsideRC no, but I would love to see these cars have actual shocks on them, that would be a great and I think beneficial mod! Have a great Sunday👊🏼😎🏁
This is so cool and I love the look. I always see these videos on cheap rc drift cars called like slidey boys and turbo drifts. Could you make a review on these because I always wonder if the cars they are drop shipping are any good?
Those look like they can be fun - but hard to suggest such a small carfor that price. These LDRC cars have much more potential with future upgrades than the smaller cars.
Thank you for sharing a breakdown of how to troubleshoot and tune this car, I'll be using it as a guide to get mine setup proper. IMO this thing is awesome for someone's first r/c drift car who isn't sure they want to go deeper into the hobby. Consider it the "Harbor Freight approach", buying something inexpensive and if you use it so much it breaks/dies you can probably warrant buying the next step up such as a 1/10 RTR (which is my plan).
Great review...i never had a drift car and this seems the brand to go with... give me a good reason to clean my over cloddered messy garage and try some drifting..thanks for sharing😊
Actually i have my eye on the newest diecast metal blue and silver one..its absolutely incredible...after watching several reviews it could use a better gyro...but needs nothing else..thanks for sharing😊
@Roadside_rc I got some huge info what you should try out. Try to make vibration spacers on the gearbox, since it makes the gyro wobble the servo. And if you have the metal gears, you need to buy the black rubber wheels. And drive at high torque, after they are worn out a little. It drifts fast as hell, really fun to drift then. And you have insane controll of the steering! I will try to make a video on on my car. Waiting for new esc and motor. I got flashing rgb lights, tiny ones. So fun to upgrade and find out new things 😁
I’m not gonna lie. I’ve been quietly binging your channel recently even though subscribed over 2 years ago. The info you provide and tips etc is top notch . So I’m here to learn and thanks for it 👍🏼 Great info great vids from someone with obvious great knowledge and willing to share

My fav settings are 75% throttle and 50-75 gyro. Makes it way more predictable and easier to modulate the throttle. Both my rx7s had the same issue with the front. Ended up being the torsion wire not in place along with the threaded rod binding up like yours
How do you get a drift car go on the inside of a circle than get to go to the outside of the circle and viscera? Like you did at the end of the video. Throttle? Thanks
It is all about the throttle and steering control. You can open or close the steering slightly (VERY slightly) and change the throttle position a little.
Hello. I changed the Esc today. Swapped the receiver and transmitter for a Noble NB4+, also installed an Afrc GYS-2 V4 servo and a Surpass Hobby Digital Servo 9G, but the wheels wobble a lot. I have the AE86 by the way. 🤙🏻
Wheel wobble is typically caused by the gyro. You will need to either 1) turn the gyro gain down until the wobble goes away, or 2) swap to a higher-end gyro that has dampening built-in.
@RoadsideRC luckily it's an old hotel from 1910 woth concrete between floors, so I'm hoping to be ok, if not we have a parking garage in the basement. Looking forward to getting into the hobby, we appreciate your videos!

Hi, will the LDRC Skyline help me learn drifting? I don't have space at home to practice indoors with a 1/10 scale. Or can I drift outdoors with a 1/10 scale? Thanks for any info!
This car behaves a lot like a 1:10 - which is unique in smaller scale. If your space is less than a 1-car garage space, then I think you will have a blast.
@@RoadsideRC Thanks for the info Troy! I'm Brook. Yeah, I have a tiny apartment, lol. There is a local track here in San Antonio, Drift Away, at RCHQ. I'm going to pull the trigger on a 1:10 in a few days, but I think this little guy will help me practice at home.
@@rexx8887 can confirm. I got a LDRC 1802 Red AE86 a couple weeks ago and it comes with an additional set of tires. If you look at the mounting locations of the rear lower control arms too you'll see a reinforcement "border" on the chassis itself AND there's a connecting reinforcement plate on the chassis between the front lower control arms. That's a giveaway that it's a "v2" variant of the 1802, which appears to only come as the Red AE86 currently. It looks like Troy's grey 1802 in the video has the rear reinforcement but not the front connector plate. (crazy how the manufacturers sneakily do these things and don't state the differences in listings"
@@rexx8887 see my latest EDIT to my previous comment (mentioning the existence of a front lower control arms connector plate also being a sign the car is a v2), but yeah you'll have fun with it.

Ooohhh. Fun idea. To get the absolute most out of them, I think a modified front alignment would really be needed. It has good angle - but not really quite enough. Fun thought!
I have the AE86, 2 models red, and white from the brand AMEWI and doesn't have the gyro. Also I can't drift at all with this model. I wonder all the people that drift with rc cars, they drift with a gyro installed or not at all gyro. I see that is not possible to drift without gyro and is disappointing. Still I like this model but if I could drift without gyro it would me awesome but I don't think I will ever make it.
I don't know if I will. I will certainly keep budget in mind - but just because the chassis is cheap doesn't mean the upgrades need to be. I have found that getting the RIGHT electronics is 100% worth it over getting poor performing ones.
This isn’t a good way to get your friends into it. It’s a good way to get your friends hooked on it and then they have thousands of dollars in pro set ups because you got them addicted lol
Links don't work. Temu is sketchy navigating it. Free advertising, signed up and prices come. Roulletes, prizes and ish is such overkill and a turnoff to someone jjst wanting to shop....pressure they try to give you to buy NOW...
Good news - the same car is sold multiple places. Here is the Amazon link (that you now reminded me to put in the video description - thanks!): amzn.to/42aOpoH
Everything is obviously gonna be the same for suspension and chassis. . No clue who’s asking such a dumb question. The only difference might be the weight of the body to change drifting characteristics
There are multiple variants of these cars. They come with vastly different electronics. That is why others asked me.. and then I also asked, "such a dumb question". Thanks for your help!
On amazon their product page is dodgy. Not showing and confusing you whats actually in the box thats why I bought the wrong item. There is a product page that tells you the gyro version but dont show you the chasis. So on and so forth. So its a hassle to buy and find out what you got. But you do you boo boo with all the bag of problems it comes with. They almost had it.
$60 is VERY cheap. Hard to expect more than this for that price. I agree that 1:10 is better for lost folks - but this is a great way to get a taste of drifting.

Just like the rx7, no need to remove front screws. Remove the rear screws and the front slides into the bumper 😉.
Ha! Thanks for the tip!
hello sir. where can i order a livery like yours for the rx7.looks awesome.adds just that little extra. keep up the great vids👍🏻👌🏻💥bash on🔥
Hello! I ordered it from SticklabelRC: facebook.com/groups/2893981503987811
@@RoadsideRC thank you very much sir🙂🙂
No way, I've started with RedCat already ))
Yes please 🙏🏽 i do want know the max add ons
I have the AE86, 2 models red, and white from the brand AMEWI and doesn't have the gyro. Also I can't drift at all with this model. I wonder all the people that drift with rc cars, they drift with a gyro installed or not at all gyro. I see that is not possible to drift without gyro and is disappointing. Still I like this model but if I could drift without gyro it would me awesome but I don't think I will ever make it.
Yes - the gyro is very important. Mandatory to have one. Without a gyro, the drifting will be impossible.
I was watching it go and that gyro is ACTIVE
Yes it is! I upgraded the gyro on the white car - made a huge improvement.
I wanna see a motor and gearbox upgrade since ive done everything else hahaha
I'm curious - what did you use?

Just needs tuning not bad for straight out the box
You are right!!
Do the electronics swap!
Troy, the link leads to a discontinued page
EDIT: Second click worked!
Yea
If you gonna change the electronics, please try to get cheap/budget ones 😅
I don't know if I will. I will certainly keep budget in mind - but just because the chassis is cheap doesn't mean the upgrades need to be.
I have found that getting the RIGHT electronics is 100% worth it over getting poor performing ones.
Today i bougt the rx7 now i just have to wait this will be the longest month in my life😭😭😭
:) Yes - it will test our patience.
Upgrade the heck out of it
This isn’t a good way to get your friends into it. It’s a good way to get your friends hooked on it and then they have thousands of dollars in pro set ups because you got them addicted lol
Ha! Just the gateway! :)
Just upgrade the servos
Hmm. I think I want to go deeper than that.
@@RoadsideRC just start from there and progress from that point
Links don't work. Temu is sketchy navigating it.
Free advertising, signed up and prices come.
Roulletes, prizes and ish is such overkill and a turnoff to someone jjst wanting to shop....pressure they try to give you to buy NOW...
Good news - the same car is sold multiple places. Here is the Amazon link (that you now reminded me to put in the video description - thanks!): amzn.to/42aOpoH
Same chassis as the Trueno on Aliexpress for 40 bucks with tax.
Yes! But you need to be careful. They don't all have the same electronics in them.
Note to self: front end falls out😂😂😂. It didn't help me remember 😂😂😂
Ha!
This is what I have heard - depending on where you buy it from, it comes equipped very differently.
1/18 tho? I'll stay with 1/10
I have both!
You would be surprised how many folks ask me about smaller scale
I truly believe that all this small scale stuff exists purely to increase the prices of all things 1/10.
That is interesting...
Seems a little contrived across many manufacturers to be true...
Looks pretty "toy grade" even for $60 most RUclips better off saving a few more dollars and picking up a Red Cat.
$60 is VERY cheap. Hard to expect more than this for that price.
I agree that 1:10 is better for lost folks - but this is a great way to get a taste of drifting.
Where can I get that livery or something similar? 😩🤌🏼🤌🏼
