    I'm 74 and I use the TG for flexibility and lean muscle building. I've lost 40 pounds and gained core strength.
    I am stronger than I was at 64. I think this is the best way for seniors to go. I use a lot of your tips and exercises Thank you very much.

      I bought a used Total Gym about 20 years ago and never appreciated or used it. At age 64 I realized just how perfect it was for my needs. So I bought a new one for the same exact reasons as you and I love it!

    Mike you need to write your own sliding bench work out book with all the exercise and different things you can do on a sliding bench. It would sell I would buy a copy.

    Awesome video as always! You are spot on when referring to transitioning from one excercise to the next, this is probably the number one reason I love my Total Gym. My time is limited and the total gym is designed to be efficient and effective! Your videos have been so helpful to me since purchasing my Total Gym back in July.

    I keep it simple. Each workout 5 sets of one horizontal push, one vertical, one horizontal pull, one vertical pull. 20 sets total. Superset some arms at the end. I do kettlebell swings to work the posterior chain and cardio. Other than that it's all total gym. Thank you for all the great content!

    Got a total gym bout a year before the pandemic hit because just got bored with the gym. Can honestly say I could easily be a commercial for total gym. So many ways to work out on it and being 61, so much better on the joints. Really appreciate yer vids as well, gives me some new ideas and I appreciate yer honest take on the machine.

      Thanks for the comments Dale and for sharing that. I'm a bit younger than you, but I can attest that my joints also feel much better than any other form of resistance training.

    Another great video. I don’t always comment, but always watch. My top reasons are convenience, transition speed, and just safety (as an “older” user). Your creativity is always fun to watch and the resistance bands have been a great addition to my workouts. Thanks for sharing your insights and experience.

    I bought a total gym back in the day in the early 2000s I was in my early twenties and after years of traditional weightlifting thought I was in pretty good shape but I didn't appreciate it like I do now in my early 40s. It's easy to use, and most of all it Works!
    No joint pain! I muscles feel full and pumped after only a few minutes. I feel better after using it.

    There is no machine or anything else for that matter IMO that allows you to literally do any and every exercise possible like the total gym. From what you have showed there are also movements available that most people have never even thought of. If your interested I'd gladly send you some of Paul Chek's videos.

    I only hate myself for not picking one up in the early days when Chuck was promoting it on television. Could have save me a lot money and time for all those years prior to all of this. Well, it took a global pandemic to discover that a better gym can be build at home, and in my opinion a sliding bench is one of the must haves in a home gym

    I really like my total gym you can do somany upper and lower body exercise in on the total. That's why I like the total gym . One out of 4 days a week I still workout with free weights with my dumbbells, curl bar, and I ride my exercise bike 4 days a week for 20 minutes but the total gym is my favourite.

  • @joannaprevost426

    i love the total gym, I still go to the gym and do traditional freeweights, I supplement with the Total Gym. Honestly, you can get a complete if not better workout with the total gym. The reason I bought total gym was they had one in my gym and I started doing core training on it. I guess I became a trend setter, because people saw me using it so much and getting results , they started using it and I could never get on it anymore! I solved that problem and bought my own total gym and I use it everyday without waiting :)

    • @hybridresistance

      That's a great story. That's nice that your gym let anyone use it. I know some gyms that have them just reserve them for their classes.

    I exercise to a spreadsheet, concerned how to track this and keep myself honest. Push-ups and the rowing machine are pretty easy to quantify, even though number of pushups is not a very good metric. Also, without a broad background, the lack of structure is a bit daunting. However, my shoulders are getting tired of pushups - I need to vary things a bit. after watching a few of your videos, I think I’m gonna take the plunge.

    For me, it's the small footprint and the ability to be as effective at home as I am at the gym. I think there still is a lot of skepticism that something very basic like a TG could substitute for a gym workout. Also, with it having been advertised on TV infomercials for many years, It's too easy to mentally put it in the same category as other gimmicky exercise items like the "Thigh Master" or "Ab Roller".

    For me after years of being a gym rat at 40 hurt myself bad lifting too much weight . Long story short I had operations gained 30 lbs amd got in the worse shape of my life. Doctor said no more heavey weight lifting. It depressed me. The total gym I thought was a joke but my doctor recommended it. It saved me and at 58 it's consist of 80% of training. .... pain free training. And super sets are my jam.amd the TG is truly great for that. Ifnyou want to bulk up AMF get hudge may not be for you . But as someone who trained that way I would advise not to. Feel better now then I did then..

    I purchased a TG fit about a month ago and am really enjoying it. The only body part I don't like it for is chest. I've had impingements in both shoulders, so to do a fly on here hurts. The chest press didn't feel as effective as a flat bench press or dumbell incline press. Overall, I'm very happy with it. I especially enjoy doing legs on it!

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 года назад

      I know chest is something is concerned about. I made a video addressing this a while back, but I’m still going to add/search for more solutions for this.

    I've gotten a lot of great ideas from your videos...but the downside of the TG is everyone needs weight bearing exercise. Swimmers and cyclists have to add in exercises "on their feet" because they are supported in their disciplines. Seniors especially need weight bearing exercises. At the very least they need to walk regularly.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 года назад

      Thanks Ernie. I would agree that cyclists / swimmers should incorporate more (or more specific resistance training exercises) based the nature of their sport (both of which have some of the lowest bone mineral densities). But I would disagree that a TG is not weight bearing. You'd have to go through each exercise, body part, and individual use to fully assess how much or little stress they are getting to their skeletal system on the machine. But I am all for the incorporation of other modes of resistance training to their Total Gym training.

      I’m a senior and strongly disagree with this. I’m getting better, safer workouts increasing my strength and increasing my mobility due to easy full range of motion. Not hurting my joints or compressing my back. Can now more safely do pull ups, squats. It’s also helping my hand grip. Try it. You may like it! Peace.
