A City on Fire starts off exactly how I would think the scent would start... big, bold, smoky and dark. The scent does start losing steam after a few hours and will keep that in mind when testing. Smoky scents are some of my favourites in the game so we will see how this one fares against those.

I didn’t realize that I loved smoke until I put a sample of this on and forgot about it and kept getting whiffs of it and I was just going crazy for it I ordered a bottle right after!

Definitely get that smoke. When I first sprayed it in the opening I kinda thought...well u know when you've been stood next to a bonfire something like that and ur clothes smell of the smoke after!? But imagine u were wearing a leather jacket lol. Smokey, dark earthy, spicy amazing! as it starts to dry down I do get the fruits. Enjoyed your review always honest 👍

How does this compare to Maison Margiela's By the Fireside? Just curious. That's the only smoky fragrance I've ever smelled. I really liked it. Thanks!
If you think By the Fireplace is smoky then this will knocks your socks off. Much smokier and the smoke is the central theme.
Truth? They are NOTHING alike. NOTHING. There is no cade in MM by the fireside

I demoed a house after a fire and my clothes smelled exactly like this. I’ve only sprayed it on a tester so I’ll have to try it on the skin to test out that dry down.
sounds about right on the description. I need to wear this one, I haven't worn it in a while.
does this smell anything like l'occitane cade? I'm guessing no because l'occitane's offering is more about the cedar and pink pepper than the smoke.

Yeah, not one for me this. I have the short stories collection and IA I’m afraid is a fantastic concept usually but almost every single one has potential but a massive flaw. This one is too linear a smoke, the cade is used sloppily. Cade in Mona Di Orio Cuir is superb mixed in with other things to bring leather and spicy herbal tones. Here it is cade...and about it.
Tried most from IA and perhaps aside from slow explosions I’ve been disappointed for the cost. If it was $1 or less per ml, I’d maybe bite.
Cade I think needs to be tamed, I’m looking forward to trying out Amouage Portrayal Man...cade and violet now that is an interesting combo.

There ya go, now THATS how u do an honest review . You sir are absolutely right. The cade is used very badly in here. It’s my least favorite from this house.
Some of us love that it’s dominantly smoke heavy. What you see as flawed some of us love it. And the perfume house definitely agrees.
@@rookietrucker5114 The smoke isn't the issue for me as a note, Zoologist TRex is one of my all time favourites. It's that it is not that skilfully used, in my opinion of course and as you demonstrate its a mainly subjective experience, we can agree to disagree.
