The battery holder has a locking mechanism. Insert and pull it down to lock it. At first i thought it was bad. But i read the manual and found out the locking mechanism and its very stable.
I have the MOD CASE... And i fixed the "LOOSE" PROBLEM. u have 3 options OPTION 1- permanent which I didnt use. which is to GLUE the plasic part to the hard back of the MOD CASE . OPTION 2- USE 3M DOUBLE SIDED TAPE it works well butt i wanted to be able to constantly remove it so..... OPTION 3- Get a square of some high quality velcro , stick the soft side on the case with 3m tape and the harder prickely side on the plastic back side of the strap also with 3m double sided tape and then u have extra support when connected and it wont shift and become loose . i had to get creative cause i noticed the same problem at stock i wouldnt trust the straps to hold any battery pack that would actually work and charge the ally..... GREAT VIDEO n I think its Awesome ya got your kid to help u ! keep up the amazing work , CHRIS... OUT!
The best mod is probably the one that lets you add a full 2280 ssd. You could technically fit a 8tb ssd if it can fit double sided SSDs, of not 4tb. Plus they are usually half the price of 2230ssd for the same size, plus the small ones usually dont have dram cache or resort to QLC nand or both
I really want that mod ETA prime and small YTbers made a video but I'm still skeptical about it because there are still no follow up videos about the performance and other possible cons.
@@smokers1231000I've done it. Used a crucial 2tb p3 and I put a small heatsink on it. The temps on the ssd never go above 65 even when heavily stressing the ssd. Temps of the cpu haven't changed at all. Plus it's all reversible so if you ever need to send it for an RMA you can just put it back to how it was stock. Pretty much no risk involved
@@TakiUdon It increases the depth at the bottom of the grips so it does feel a bit more ergonomic. It's not just the thickness of the case, there's actually a significant air gap between the stock case grip and the grip case. That said after using it for a while I went back to a bare ally as adding ~100g to the weight wasn't worth it for the better grip for me.
If I didn’t like the steam deck so much I would want an rog ally too differently looks prettier and more performance but the battery life on the Deck is a1
Matte screen protectors are so tricky to get right... I have some "MATTE" external monitors and if you get that matte wrong, it becomes a rainbow mess. Pepper Jobs gets that matte wrong. This cheap-o 100Hz 18in 1080p panel I'm using right now, got the matte correct. Laptops for the most part get the matte correct.
Taki!! Super random question but how did you get half life 2 running on the orange pi zero3?? Like which emulator would you even use to run it? Wine? I've been using an orange pi zero 3 (4 gig) pretty much it came out as a general desktop pc (one of many lol I have a ton of different SBC's) and as a EXTREMELY portable pen-testing platform but I have not messed with emulation much with the zero3, and orange pi zero2w, specifically. Any advice of where to get started would be amazing. Thanks and love your videos!!
With the mod case, they need to start building an eco system where there's a cutout in their products to support the strap hump, like an indent. I like the front shell aspect of it, but the rest of the case is kind of terrible.
The back strap for the mod case can be secured, it has a locking mechanism. You could have tried to read the manual before making a video... you're usually very professional but this was a bit of a faux-pas. You didn't even edit the video with a card or popup to correct the mistake.
Oh wow I actually already bought the RGB backplate mainly cause it looked like it has better airflow, so would be curious to see if thats the case at all.
I don't like white devices and having a white + clear device with a red PCP with mostly blackend internals (sticker and RGB thingy), just looks odd af.
Wait a munite... there's a little handyman on the screen... I meant helping hands...with workloads process... 🤓🥸🤯 And ... That case skin should have been a wide kickstand....instead...🧐🤓

Yeah when it’s locked it’s actually pretty secure.
thank you for this..
The hero we deserve, i was just moving along because of it, and now I'll probably buy it.

its intersting cuz for the silicone set, most of those have been 3d rpinted mods for months now. cool to see
Love your little helper! Please don't be afraid of showing them with more videos. Big plus!
2:55 will work perfectly with my biohazard 92mm fan grills

@@metrix8155Can you link to the adapter you used specifically?
@@Shadowtron1221 I can't put a link in a comment (RUclips doesn't let me), but any adapter on aliexpress will work, just go for the cheapest

Nice video. I got the Skull & co grip case and it basically turns the Ally into a Steam deck grip with a soft rubber coating. Recommended.
I'll have to try it out. Is the grip much thicker than stock?
@@TakiUdon yes. But not crazy. The grip does not have a kickstand, but it allows the Ally to stand on it's own, so decently thick at the bottom.

steam deck JSAUX case does have a kickstand. May just not come with the case by default. Its servicable.
That Biohard backplate goes crazy
Thinking about getting that back plate for Steam Deck. Really like it on ROG Ally though! Really considering this device.
If I didn’t like the steam deck so much I would want an rog ally too differently looks prettier and more performance but the battery life on the Deck is a1
Taki, I have to ask, which one do you think is better or prefer, out of the Rog Ally & Legion Go?
the ROG Ally oculink kit is the one people should get
What kind of USB C cable are you using to charge?
I think it's "SHARGE Phantom C to C Cable"
Hey Taki,
Why haven't you reviewed the Ayn Odin 2 yet?? Or do you save the best for last at the end of the year??😅
Cool stuff
Did you weigh the bare Ally after the mod, by any chance? Just curious if it changes the weight over stock at all.
How come that JsAux has been quicker in making that cover than bloody D-brand??

aw the baby hands
Wonder if the RGB panel will fit if you have a 2280 right-angle adapter board
Nothing like putting a clear case with RGB in it so no one can see it by going with another case to cover it right up lol
SteamDeck case has a kick stand but its removable.

are you discount ETA Prime?
I thought you were going to talk about the 2280 ssd mod😢
That thing has to increase the temp it's blocking everything.... Anyone do test on it?
Oh wow I actually already bought the RGB backplate mainly cause it looked like it has better airflow, so would be curious to see if thats the case at all.
Just changing the back plate in a handheld is so janky
Still no battery back plate with bigger handles
Im waiting for that kind of mod as well.
I'm waiting for the 65w battery upgrade - would make this much better without too much extra weight@@Limitbreak09
Dust filter on it?!
No dust filter for the clear back? 😔
None. Unless they intend for you to transfer the stock one.
No es recomendable la funda completa no se adapta bien, se queda muy endeble por arriba
