ipad air m2 makes more sense i think so because in back to university offer they will give apple pencil which make more useful for students and artist

For example if you use pencil to take notes split screen and use the other half for maybe reading, then yes bigger screen will be useful.
Depends on your budget and use case.
When i was in college i used my ipad for just studying through powerpoint and reading books, so for me 11 inch was enough.
For you it can be different scenario.
