Clifton Powell doesn't get half the recognition he deserves! Underrated actor.
Very Underrated but he kept moving on powerful acting skills
Facts 4 real
He s Dope.. homey rocks with mad independent (local) people as well.. and hD been
.. for a looong time
I have been saying the very same thing for years.
U ain’t lying there
This is why they took this off the air...😢 positive black programming
Exactly
As much I’d like to agree. It wasn’t because of that. The show wasn’t getting the viewership that they wanted compared to other shows. Blame the viewers for not tuning in. 90s was full of positive black programming shows.
@@Jokerasylum14 I watched it and afterwards I watched Joey (I forgot his real name ) on one of those FBI series I forgot which one LoL 🤣
@@jbwc you talking about the guy from friends ? lol
They kept moving the time slot
Clifton Powell is criminally underrated as an actor imo
Clifton the Drug Dealer
Roc
Menace 2 Society
Dead Presidents
New York Undercover
First Time Felon
Rush Hour
Saints in Sinners
This show should never have been taken off the air. Charles S. Dutton brings the character of a good man to life in a way other actors just can't match.
We know why it was taken off the air
I just did a little reading on Dutton and it turns out he did time himself and it was during his big that he got into acting.
All those life experiences were a natural expression that came out in his performance on this show. Honestly, calling it a "performance" may be underselling it.
I agree
Roc was a television father figure to those who didn't have a father.
He was a '90s James Evans.
Yes he was Roc was Powerful 👊
Fathers are what's missing in the black community.
Like me !! 👍
@@Cybertron429
Where does this bs come from when it has been proven that more Black Fathers are more involved with their children than any other race in the US
Clifton has played damn hear every villain in black cinema! He is a damned good actor and even better person.
Damn Roc and Andre scenes are always powerful
ROC is one of my favorite shows. Teaches good things in life
Andre says talk in private, but everyone can hear them..😅🤷🏾♂️
😂😂😂😂
There was no place for roc on network television 💯
The black community needs more men like Roc in our neighborhoods.
Roc was one of my favorite shows during the early 90s. I loved this show.
Two legends in the acting game!!!
Clifton Powell's voice is just amazing for that character. When he delivers hard lines, its delivered amazing.
The year is 2024. Drugs are still being sold in Rocs community. Powerful acting tho. Loved this show as a kid.
I can relate to that I was a trash man for 25 years and earned every penny, very good show very good message
Bruh looking like hollow man down there in the corner 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Roc was a show that shaped me as a young man. Its truth of life, good and bad really showed the gray area of so called victories. Charles S. Dutton and the whole team deserve our appreciation.
Andre tried to tell him...Sure, Roc and his squad ran Andre off, but three years later, these dudes named Russell Bell, Avon Barksdale, and Marlo Stansfield showed up. Y'all know how that turned out...
People don’t understand that. Gotta know when the wolf is keeping the other beasts at bay
" the game aint changed... it just got more fierce" Slim Charles
In later episodes?
@@jdhstylesROC is based in bmore so most likely he referring to the events wire happening 3 years before those events went down
Gotta admit Andre coat got some swag
YEA IT DO!!!!!!!!
Yeah Roc got harsh with him.. Andre sounded ready to redeem (which every man deserves a right to) then Roc threw out him "going to hell" which was counter productive..
Andre made his choice
Andre still made the choice to do wrong. Even when given a chance to do right
I would've at least told him that he may make it in line at the pearly gates.
This show was powerful. Real as you can get for a family sitcom.
Roc was a good as show in the 90s
I still miss this show to this day it was an awesome and incredibly powerful show
This was a powerful role for a dark skin black man to play. He Clifton was brilliant, but the problem they started typecast him for different series and movies. I would love to see him as a black panther in movie in got that style. Give him his flowers and protect him.
I agree but, he played a great role in Ray as his assistant.
He played a preacher in the Black Lightning series.
When they have shows like this life was getting better in the streets and look what’s happening now without these shows like this without positive role models
not true at all lol the murder rate was higher back then
This show was Brilliant! This message needs to come back NOW! We lived through this in the 80s and 90s in the South Bronx!THE ONLY AREA THAT HASN'T BEEN REGTAFIED YET! SOUTH BX MY HOME!
Now Drug Dealers are the heroes 😂
Avon Barksdale
Big Meech
YEP
Charles Dutton and Clifton Powell dynamite actors
"Roc hard on him." 🤣🤣.
He had me rollin.
Hahahahaha
This Was A 9 To 5 Good Man Who works a job to help His Community And Provide for his Family. Then the 9 to 5 Hustler Who Looks At the world The other way differently Unlike Roc. Roc Had To Tell Him That "there's More Good Hardworking People Than The Drug Dealers." Roc Knew Andre Was a Soft Tough guy That Thought he's a Businessman but yet Couldn't see the damage that he's Doing.💯 That's why Karma Caught up With Andre And Made him Lost Everything even himself with that Drug Dealer Attitude. Roc Was The FATHER FIGURE That Andre Needed! We all need a Father Figure Like The Roc!💯🖤👊🏽
💯💯👍🏾👍🏾
But, These Modern Day Females will still Chose the FOOL ASS THUGS Over hard work... ❤
I understand why they took shows like this off the air!! Just at what the world has become..@@Grumpybob23
No more 9 to 5, nowadays it’s standing on the corner with Fred’s in their hair and pants hanging off their azz, talking about how much of a man they are
Fax I can’t name one person that I knew that was heavy in the streets that didn’t pay for it whether it was going to jail or death
Damn ain’t nobody buying drinks at the bar, Andre and Rock would have to take it outside lol
They had to stop Black television like this!!!
Didn't really stop it. Al they did was offer buffonery in the place of good , hard hitting black drama.
Underrated actors!
Roc was the 90s Goodtimes
Damn pinky.
Yeah this was the fall of andre. And also the redemption of andre thompson. Some and even most drug dealers ficitonal and real can find redemption. Having the brains and good intelligence to realize what mess up harm drugs can do to ruin health and repution.
WOW
✡️Blessed Br All,
WHY WASTHIS SHOE CANCELLED..? 😢
HARD WORKER in the Trash, Never Budges, When He Goes to a CLEAN HOME, PLATES of FOOD & a Good WIFE to Love... ❤Livin' Large!
😂😂😂 the mask and the voice is all that I can think of.
Thank You for your view and your comment. This is the Grumpy Bob Show with your host Grumpy Bob. 😂😂😂. I hope the character doesn’t deter you from subscribing and watching more of the channel. It’s a reaction and review channel.
I remember watching this show as a teen in the 90's Andre was such an underrated villain.
PINKY NICCA😂😂
1:04-- "...Well, who put clothes on yo' ass?!?!?"
He went big smoke with line
remember when he gave Tony soprano a ticket 🤣
Didn't work out too well for him though
😂😂😂😂
It makes me angry that Clifton Powell does not get more mainstream roles. His acting rivals the best black actors today. Black people are being robbed of this man's talent he is Denzel Washington-type quality. He should be the leading man in movies or his own series. Hollywood really dropped the ball on this one.
Bro got a mask of Crip Mac dad on
😂😂😂
Ceep it 55st
I seen this episode growing up. I seen all of that. It’s pretty good.
This was a good TV series
Well damn big smoke don’t slam
The phone like that because Cj didn’t follow the damn train
Roc don't play but he nothing like my boy James Evans
Andre would have popped James. He was too violent.
@TheRealVerbalAbuser James fought in the Korean War, stepped to Mad Dog, and made quick work of cousin Cletus. James dodged bullets and punked chumps who had guns. Andre Thompson would have been another piece of trash in the dumpster for James.
Back to where you belong with the rest of your drug dealin' "heroes," junior.
@TheRealVerbalAbuser Do you know your Good Times history? James Evans fought in the Korean War, stepped to Mad Dog, and made quick work of cousin Cletus. James dodged bullets and kicked ass with whoever challenged him and his family. Andre would have been another piece of trash in the dumpster for James.
Back to where you belong, junior.
@@TheRealVerbalAbuser I believe so too
I think James would have been strapped himself under those circumstances
Shows like this and south central was real black television! Now today we got garbage like blackish and Tyler Perry'shows on tv and that being putting out as real television for blacks!SMH😒
Facts
"They" JUST DON'T make TV shows like this anymore. And...yes! That was UGG-GLEE!!!😂🤣🤣💯👍🏾👏🏽♥️
Thank You for your view and your comment. The ROC Show was second to none.
@@Grumpybob23 Indeed, it was!💯👍🏽🙏🏽
No it wasn’t… It did the job for him to change somewhat
Its funny how the drug dealer was the villain back in the day but now is portrayed as the hero. The dealer is still the villain wake up Black TV creators.
Protagonist and hero ain’t synonyms
I love their confrontations they were real and intense
Clifton Powell is truly one of the best.
Andre was that guy...
As good as roc sounds, they both right, but roc a lil wrong
Huh. Explain
This show was amazing.
In real life Roc would’ve gotten killed
No doubt
yeah… it would be a high probability .. especially if he messing up the 💵💵💵like that.. hitman are DIRT CHEAP in the hood 🪦
In real life today, it was more strong men and families in the community in the 80’s and 90’s. That’s why shows like this could exist back then but now we root for the dope dealers as the man in the community. See how that happens
And then they would've got killed back

Interesting, I was watching this on my instagram feed and now it magically come to my RUclips feed .
Wonderful actors
Man while watching this,it felt like I was back in those times.Great channel, great acting, classic show
Thank You for your view and your comment. Fellow Philadelphian. GO EAGLES!!!
@@Grumpybob23 No doubt!!🦅🦅
He can still sell drugs and build the community. That's what real gangsters do
No
Rob Peter to pay Paul is what you are saying.
One of the main reasons why I miss this show. Roc was must see TV.
That wasnt acting. That was a conversation.
Clifton Powell was brilliant in this role.
I wish this show had of continued
Judging by her reaction in the beginning, I don’t think he was supposed to throw the phone, that seems like a real flinch
THAT STILL COMES TO SHOW YOU ALL, THE HARDER ROC GOES, ROC STILL DON'T PLAY?
man what an actor. to a couple lines in house party as Sharaine's brother to iconic performances in ROC and Dead Presidents.
Thank u 4 your programing all jokes aside.
Roc need to come back and it can if the networks call for it
ROC DEVISTATED ANDRE WITH THAT MISSIVE
This show was too real..... and that's why they cancelled it no doubt. S/O to Charles Dutton and Clifton Powell for the great acting.
This show was televised back before Black American culture turned to 💩
Tell me,is there any TV show Tyler Perry put out that comes close to this?
Legend is...that was O Dogg on the other end
Yeah…this is way too truth being told. I see why it was canceled.
STOP. Just STOP. It was cancelled because people stopped watching it
Period. Y'all too busy watching Scarface and Power and Ghost and
Snowfall and every 2 bit drug boy movie 100 times over and over and over again. That's why. And you know it. Our culture is trash 🗑️.
They don't want messages and positivity
@@rgtunderworldrgt7773That is an outright lie.
@@rgtunderworldrgt7773That's a lie no one stopped watching Roc that was Black folks show well one of them, folks loved Roc the messages were great the acting just phenomenal
@@rgtunderworldrgt7773Facts 💯
Man wanted to speak in private 🤔🤣🙏
This is really a great negotiation
It's people Charles S Dutton who represented the black community properly
Hell of a Show !! 👍👍
Great show.. roc wouldn’t have lasted an episode in The Wire
he would've gotten smoked by a little 11 year old.
Then he moved to Los Santos to work with Tenpenny
If that was real life they would’ve put Roc down like a dog.
Cutty
Classic
Was this andre’s last scene?
He had a few more scenes on the ROC Show.
