Have you ever suffered any of these injuries?

I used to have a lot of trouble with my left shoulder. On my first PT appointment the physical therapist asked what seemed an odd question, "How do you drive?" It turns out that driving with my left arm extended out over the to of the steering wheel, I had elongated the tendons/ligaments enough that the shoulder had become 'too loose' in the socket allowing it to 'pop'. So, be aware of your arm/shoulder position when driving.

Developing body awareness is key. As a former track coach, we had everyone (including throwers and distance runners) participate in sprint technique drills as part of warm-ups for both practice and competition. For endurance running, it helps you know how a proper leg cycle should feel, and what your feet/knees/hips should be doing with each stride while keeping good posture as well. Any joint angle that's slightly off can cause the others to compensate, putting more stress on stabilizer muscles/ligaments with each step and eventually injury.

I suffered a pretty severe calf strain almost a year ago, and it tends to come back from time to time. I roll, massage, and stretch it, but every now and then I feel the muscle tense up during a run. I'm the type who pushes through to reach a goal, but with the help of this channel, and others, I've learned it's more important to listen to my body. Thank you Heather!

When I twinged my back (a bruised disc) I wasn't allowed to cycle. Physio said no, not until back has healed.
Thought he just wanted to encourage gentle exercise so my body could focus on healing.
Now I know it's also about the posture on the bike.

I think foot injuries for anyone increasing running volume must also be an issue - especially for people (like me) who had bad shoes. That's really the only thing that's got me in the last 10 weeks or so, training for my first triathlon.

Thoughts about upper back pain, seems muscular between the shoulder blades, from swimming?

got the same problem. I think its caused by going to bed dehydrated. I notice drinking electrolytes before going to bed eliminates them
