In scotland we call it a “dodgy Gary” - I don’t know why but we do 😅

Just ran the Boston marathon and had to hit the porta potty at mile 21. I think the anxiety of being in crowds has negatively affected my cortisol levels!

Oceanside 70.3 this last October. I had to hit the can in T1, once on bike, T2, and once on run. It was brutal, but I did finish. I did much better in that regard at LaQuinta, but Oceanside was certainly memorable.

Oh absolutely hated upset stomach each time before race. No spicy stuff, no coffee 48 hours before helps a bit.

This is the bane of my (running) life. I've gone 30km to marathon distance on a row erg and NEVER had to stop for a bathroom break, but I have to stop almost without fail on a long run of 16 miles +.
I've managed to almost eradicate this issue during the few marathons and ultras I've taken part in, but I have to control what I eat religiously during the 24 hours before a race in order to do so.
Caffeine plays a big part in all of this I'm sure, but it occured to me recently that, since the surge in stress hormone release I experience during the build-up and execution of an intervals session and tempo run always requires a trip to the bathroom, I may be able to erm...force the issue prior to the start of a long run as well if I perform my warm-up in a specific way.
I'm going to give this a go this weekend. We'll see what happens! 😄

@@gtn Update: it seemed to work. I made my warm-up a bit more intense - without overcooking it - and this seemed to get things moving. I ran a 22-miler without stopping and had no issues for the rest of the day either.
I'd recommend this approach to anyone else with a similar problem. Thanks for getting the cogs turning in my head! ☺👍

When you travel to a race, you often have the Saturday off and shouldnt move too much. So from this points going to the football stadium makes sense. The problem are the smokers there. That's why I avoid to spend the day before the race this way.

Last month I ran a half-marathon with a god damn bellyache from start to finish.. worst experience I've had on my running life. Well... at least I got to the end of it without 'further' problems 🤣

lol one time I ate way too much Italian food the night before race day. I had acid reflux coming out of my mouth during the first 8 miles of a half marathon but I still got my half PB 1:29:41.
black kit or clothing with sunglasses make heather look like a rock star, her hair and skin come alive. next race wear black and watch your opponent's poop themselves.
