These are the types of controller that you buy for the children to use. I also have a 3rd-party DS4 (Dobe TP4-0421) that I bought just to find out how it feels like. The insides looks almost identical to these controller. I mean it works fine... for the most part. The buttons are more stiff than the original DS4. The analog sticks are super sensitive, like if you tilt it 50% of the way, the system would recognize it as 100%. So, it's really not ideal for games that requires precision. The vibration feels a massager that is on full blast. Like your hand would start to hurt if the controller keeps vibrating. But other than that, it works fine. I mean, I bought it for like $19. I can't really complain that much. 😅

I've been having drifiting issues with 3 PS4 controllers and my brother with two Xbox controllers, I don't remember having issues with controllers since the 8-bit to the 6th gen.While this is a bit out of scope with this video, I just think that something fundamental needs to change in order to make moden controllers more durable and reliable, there are countless people with the drifting problem alone.
I first had drifting back in the day on a N64 controller. I only had it again on my PS5 controller. My second PS5 controller already has it a tiny bit. Something definitely needs to change
You're not familiar what a drifting issue actually is, right? In short, the only fix is to replace the entire analog kit, which requires desoldering the defective part and resoldering a new one onto the board. If you think a simple software calibration could solve drifting issues, then that isn't drifting at all.
There is already solution out for couple of years now, they're called Hall Effect Sensors, GulliKit sells them. Also the N64 had optical stick, so drift on it was not possible unless some gunk builds up.

I used the purple buttons on the white controller my brother defeated and the blue buttons customs forgot to eat, I like the green stick cover (used blue sticks, but their not like "fine") and the ninja turtles skin got at Walmart. Never played New Super Mario past world 6-3. I hate the sliding into death.

as someone who works for a big tech company and IPC certifed this is a horrendous sight, NO ESD protection in sight, no heal straps, esd shoes, grounding wrist straps, ESD smocks, and ESD mats and Foam ( for stands to prop boards up for soldering/ touch up. )
I did the assembly line deal 30 years ago & its absolutely mind numbing work if you arent simple. You couldnt pay me enough.

Is this issue a bigger thing in the U.S. ? It seems like it to me. The only time I've ever had drift was ps2. Every single controller I had did it.
