    WOW!! This was an amazing trip down memory lane! I live on the other side of Uinta Dr near Smith’s!! I lived there for nine years until I moved to Idaho Falls in 2020 (the infamous year of COVID)
    This passed week I’ve been going down memory lane via flashbacks, so I decided to search up pictures to make me happy, and I came upon this wonderful video 😁
    Expedition Island and the park nearby were like the PLACES TO BE during the summer : )
    Most of my personal memories come from walking the boardwalk on the other side of the Red Bridge, throwing rocks in the river, splashing in the overflow water in July, and watching the salmon swim upstream during the fall 😊
    It’s not much, but it was home

    Thank you for this video. I lived in Green River from 1971-1982.. I lived in the apartments on River View. Back then there was nothing between the apartments and Roosevelt Elementary. Every morning when we woke up you could metal clanking outside. It was the sound of the kids lunch boxes as we walked to school. I was 6 years old and I walked everyday with the other kids thru the snow to school.... Back then Expedition Island was kinda of this mystical place for us kids. It was one of the few places in town that had.. Trees!! I had a school assignment that needed leaves.. So my mom took me to Expedition Island to get leaves! Ok.. enough memory lane! Thank you again for sharing this video.

    I'm looking to live there when I retire. Are there power outages there?

    • @samanthasmith5095
      @samanthasmith5095 Год назад

      It’s been two years since I’ve lived there, but in my experience we only had power outages during the occasional thunderstorm or wind storm, and they rarely lasted more than 1-2 hours

      @@samanthasmith5095 My goal year would be 2027 when I'm going to get my SS benefits. But, I'm now also looking at Winnemuca Nevada which has the same low rental rates for apts., and less extreme Winters.

    Why did they build a dam and spillway on the Green River and when? That walkway is new too.

    • @sarunit63
      @sarunit63  6 лет назад

      they built a water detention lake and dam for the water treatment plant the walkway has been there for many years

    • @sarunit63
      @sarunit63  4 года назад

      Its a water detention pond cheaper process than taking it strait from the river and treating the silt having it in a pond reduces that
