I just want to say thanks, I did this job my self for 40. $. the parts were 18. +×. I appreciate your video.
Where u found de parts man I have this problem in my car ???
you actually dont need to take the clip out to push the line in. saves a huge headache. :D just push the line on with the clip installed ;)
+1
ws6transam1971 yeah that's what I said
I learned that the hard way of course
Which one the metal clip or the black safety thing
Mine wont lock in place
*update* I just finished fixing my my leak with the help of this video. I bought the "picks and hooks" tools and stopped by home depot and picked up some #5 O-rings danco 96722. All I did was disconnect the bolt from the line. Then stretched the O-ring around the line down to the lip stopper. I pushed the line back into the bolt and snapped in the clip so the bolt and line were reattached securely then bolted it back in. No more leaking transmission fluid!!! $10 for pick set and $2.27 forO-rings
You don't need to remove the retainer ring when installing line, the line is made to push through the retainer ring and click into place.
I figured this out after wasting 9 quarts of fluid
This fixed the transmission on my 07 Buick lacrosse. I was loosing pressure slightly at first casing a slip while turning and accelerating then it got progressively worse it wouldn’t engage gears! I fixed the orings on the cooler likes and topped off my transmission it drives brand new!
Glad I was able to help..don't forget to subscribe
So i know this is a Chevy but my Jeep Liberty has the same problem. I looked all over for a how to and you sir are the only one. Thanks so much.
Props to you klowny1969 I was scrambling to parts stores to find the cooler line assembly for my grand prix, turns out it was just the fitting. You saved me...............some bucks!
+GETEMBEAU81 Gotta do the same for my grand prix. My mechanic wanted to charge me $120 for the repair. Yeah right! .... J
I have a 08 and mine is leaking from the same place i thought i had to replace the whole line thanks to this video i don't. Thanks! Going to start the change now!
awesome..thanks for watching
Thanks - much appreciated. I used the GM disconnect tool rather than using a pick - your way to remove that clip looks alot easier.
If you're going to do the lines, especially the front two, have the fittings before you start. Is much easier to just return them later if you do not need them. Speaking from personal experience, it's very annoying to stop the job to go get extra parts.
Thanks for that.dont forget to subscribe
Great video cheap part to fix annoying leaks. Simple to do. Man I wish Mr.Softee was here in florida!!! Missing new York's old days.
lol love mr softee
Nice Sir. 1st time I have encountered these and was in the dark. Appreciate your time and effort
Thanks for watching and commenting
Love the air Krapernics !!!
David Conover 🤣🤣🤣
You can leave the spring clip in and just snap the line in. Once you get the fitting off. But if you can't get the fitting off the Rad or the trans then you have to take the clip out and reinstall it.
you just saved me hundreds of dollars.. thank you thank you thank you. I went from terrified to OK with just your video.
That's Great!! Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video!! Just changed both of them on the trany and no more leaks! And it was easy. Get you a cheap set of picks, makes getting the clips off easy.
Awesome..thanks for watching and commenting..dont forget to subscribe
Just changed the other fitting on my 2006 Monte SS. This video helped me. Thanks!

Thanks for watching
As always Klowny. Your the best and you saved my tushy again. All thanks to you my grand daughter is back on the road. 😃😃. I admit I was worried. But thankfully that ac Delco fitting was only 7 bucks.
Awesome
Very helpful. Just replaced these on a friend's '07 Impala with help of your video. Very quick and easy. Thx!
+Ed Cooney awesome thanks for watching
Generally this is a very nice video although one issue during the installation was wrong.
The retainer on the AcDelco fitting should be pre-assembled before installing the fitting. Removing the retainer, as you show in your video, is only during tube line removal, means when you wish to disconnect the transmission line.
This fitting is a Quick-Connect unit, so for connecting the tube you just need to push the tube against the fitting until you hear a "click".
What's part number for the fitting above that one
casey avery I'm not sure I understand your question, However there are many types and sizes of transmission line connectors. Whenever there is a spring as you show in the movie that fitting is a Quick Connect unit. Means to install the tube u just need to push the tube inside while the spring is already installed.
Thanks for adding this information- it is just what I was looking for.
@@caseyavery9874 Did you ever find the part number for the longer fitting that was above this one
broooo u just saved me 150.00 4 sum small💩 like thiz kinda work on my Car...Thx alot👌👌👌💯
glad i was able to help
Thanks you for you video good job
thank you! some shop tried to get me, talking bout we need to replace ur lines for $533! i checked it and it was the same exact fitting leaking nothing else
Best video I've seen for this job!
ShugNoAvery thanks for watching and commenting
klowny many thanks I replaced radiator the hard way today and a fitting leaked after. Now I know I could have used a dental pick and snapped off those spring clips it would have been twice as fast instead of wrenching all those fittings off. Dang.
Another "improvement" that cost time and money to repair. Flared lines rarely leak and have no o rings to fail. Heat is the enemy of o rings and car makers should go back to flared fittings.
Agree!! Don't forget to subscribe
The fact that this video has 480k views. Way to go Government Motors.
Yeah baby..don't forget to subscribe
thank you for the video I love my impala but so many little things. thanks again man
thanks for watching
Thanks for the tips on those clips & 'o'rings.
Is this the same on a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer? I have a leak right at the fitting. The lines themselves are fine.
Comes out a lot easier when you hold it in your hand
I'm getting a slow leak near the head on the nut, so hopefully it just needs a tighten, I've been working on my 04 Monte for a few months can't wait to get it back on the road
Im Having the same problem BUT the difference is Mines is Leaking from the Radiator, Is this the same step?
Excellant!!! Best vlog on RUclips...
Thanks
Thank's for the info .It was very helpful.
Klowny - I've got a 2008 Chevy Impala 3.5 LT with currently 193000 miles My transmission went at about 145000 miles and was repaired/ rebuilt by local transmission shop.
Question: being a novice I have no clue what transmission fluid they use so I went by the shop as the gasket was leaking and asked they said Dextron vI was overkill and I didnt need that fluid and that his shops stuff was good. But I still dont know what his shop uses if I need to add at a later time. What should I do?
Ice cream man said he see you doing a video...but he ain't waiting on yo ass all day! Come get this ice cream dammit! Nothing like ice cream n oil flavor! 😊😄😄😄
Awesome Man!! mines is leaking from the vertical fitting very lightly. changing it this weekend.
Awesome ! Thanks for watching
Just what I needed to know. Thank you sir!
Thanks for watching..check out my apparel link in the description
Great video. Loved the Greek joke as well: "I put the clip in behind because I'm Greek". lmao
Thanks lol
Great video but you can install the clip completely when your ready to put back together , then just listen for the click while pushing the transmission line back in .
Yes u can..dont forget to subscribe
I just changed both lines on my 07 Uplander. just want to add some stuff. those fittings corrode badly. buy
the fittings and clips with the new lines. and if you have to unscrew the fitting on the rad, don't panic when the antifreeze pours out. just be ready to catch it.
If the fitting on the rad is pouring out antifreeze, you have a serious problem
how did u get the other line off? I can't get a wrench around it at all because the trans is in the way. Also how do you get the other end off the radiator because its at the bottom left of the radiator
Am I the only one that thought the ice cream man was on their block??
Mister Softie truck.
I have a 2007 Chevrolet equinox. What holds the disconnect on inside the radiator mine has no threads inside??? Plz help if possible thank you
thank you for the info helped out a lot, keep up the videos they help.
is it the same process on the radiator side?
Nice video job and explanation.Thank You,very infomative
thank u for watching and commenting :)
I think its easier u put the xlip on first than the pipe
Thanks for your comment..please don't forget to subscribe 😉
Please help anyone know the part number for the fitting on the other line that runs up?
I need it also
The transmission guy told me it was a 60 dollar fix.. I just spent 1400 to have it rebuilt.you think they would have check something like that. .Thanks for the video..
Unless they are blind or thieves..they should have spotted something this easy..thnx for watching
The red patent leather sneakers are off the chain 😄😄
Yeah baby
The the new trans quick connect fittings on my 4L60E were leaking bad after I replaced the rotted cooler lines. If the cooler line is not going in straight and is a little cocked its gonna leak. You may have to bend your line a bit to get it straight. It drove me crazy and I hope someone who is having this problem reads this.
northeast eric I'm going nuts trying to get a new line in do you start from the front and try to wiggle it back in
Have you had any problem with the line popping out of these fittings? Mine has done it three times going down the road. Pain in the ass.
northeast eric
I have a 2002 Monte Carlo, the Transmission fittings going to the radiator, are different size and configuration than the replace purchased, I have owned this car since it was new, no replcmt. radiator since, any help would be appreciated.
any tips for finding the right fitting for the radiator? i have a c6 corvette i got used and it seems to have a aftermarket radiator. i found one that is the right size (3/8), but it doesn't go all the way in..
how did you get the part number for this?
I just replace a fitting in my trans cooling fitting that connects to the radiator but it’s leaking. Any advice on what the problem could be. Thank you
depends what type of fitting that is..different cars use different type of fittings.
Klowny, I'm not Greek, but can I also approach from behind?
Love your channel, and the shoes FTW.
Stay gold.
dnl machine The back door is open to everyone :)
I have a 2003 Buick Rendezvous. Can you tell me, if I were to take the fitting from the transmission line off (from the top of radiator), can I just install a new fitting back in there Without having any problems with the flow of fluid in the coolant system? Thank you!
Are those lines aluminum?
Anyone have an issue with the line itself, or is the problem mostly with the fittings.
What size tool did you use to get the bolt of of the transmission pan, not the one that goes up and the pan but the one second one u tighten
My '07 chevy impala is leaking from the vertical line and having issues removing it. Any suggestions?
Cool, I need to do this on my oil lines. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't need any plumbers tape or locktite for the fitting, I guess not?
C Smith nope
C Smith I'm having the same problem has well.
I was told I had a transmission line leak on my 2000 chevy astro....is making the repair as simple as the one you did in this video?
It's a lot easier to put the fitting in with the e clip one it then just push the line in till it clicks but not the way he's doing it.
does it matter if it's a new fittingvor can I get a fitting out of another car...that wasn't leaking..
Yea these E clips are a pain in the ass to remove I swear.. I hate those E clips!!!
Man oh man, thanks for the great explanation and video. I was a bit worried about these, but not anymore! Dig them red shoes too. :)
awesome..and thanks for the shoe compliment :)
Thank you for the video
Thanks a million!
Got a problem whit my fitting went to the dealership gave them the part # came home but the old fitting it’s different from the one I got it doesn’t go in the pattern when it start it’s a little wider the old one it gets wider as the patter starts I know that’s the fitting I need base from the video if anybody knows pls let me know it’s a 2008 impala Ls
It's easier if you took the clip off of the one on the car then pull the line out then install the new one with the clip on it then the line pops into the clip.
hope that was an ice cream truck in tha back ground.. yall listen
Does the trans fluid have to be drained or can you do without draining?
Is this the same for a trailblazer
hey man, thanks for the video, I used this video and part# in this video to replace my leaky tranmission fitting.
does anyone know how to get the line back in I'm having a hard time weaving the line back in do you put it in from the back or front
I realize this is an old video but are those lines located under the driver or passenger side ???
Are those 2 line fittings the same size? Same size for both lines?
hey boss so I paid 2500 6 months ago to have my 2007 ls 3.5 impala transmission rebuilt because it lost drive. still operated in 1st and 2nd. so two days ago it went out they said I destroyed the differential and axle separated.
my question is how do I know they even rebuilt it in the 1st place and didn't just replace the drive band. I think you're the only person smart enough to know. also what are your thoughts on just buying a new reman compared to having it rebuilt if you doubt they'll do what they claim.
thanks Bro!
uncle maff sometimes they stamp the case with the shops initials or rebuild date..u can also tell by looking at certain parts like the clutches and stuff..new reman instaled by a shop and going to a reputable trans shop should be the same
klowny1969 update tranny back my differential shattered... not standard operating procedure replacing that inherent problematic gear ratio designed for better mileage but not torque...
I have a 2000 chevy express it starts sliping when it hits 3rd gear i changed the filter and fluid and its still doing it any ideas
Sounds like u need a rebuild..thnx for watching
Love the Bozo shoes and Hobo Kelly glasses
Tony S. Thank u
you should put the clip on the fitting first then push the hose in then screw it on.
I couldn't get the adaptor over the the little bump on the transmission line. I tried screwing it in without clip...still wouldn't go over the bump. I also tried to use my body weight to push the adaptor over the bump and it still wouldn't work.
is there a secret to getting the adaptor on the line, like lube or do you think I need a different one?
is the adaptor the same on both ends of the transmission line???
Something doesnt sound right
Do you HAVE to use the black plastic little cover thing? I feel like the retention pens will do...
xavier jones no need
Have you had any problems with the line popping out of these fittings? Mine has done it three times in the last four months and it is a new fitting as I did new lines and fittings when I had my trans rebuilt.
Benjamin Ross Gibbs no issues here..make sure they are snapped all the way in?
One question though, what are thoooooosssseeeee!!!!????
+clokwize my secret weapon :)
😅😅
I see there is option for check ball style connectors as well, not sure if that is just to stop fluid loss when swapping lines, hopefully not a 1-way valve. Mine rusted out right at the fitting, hoping the rust did not cut the o-ring in case part store in woods does not carry these.. Then if check-ball style were ok to use, not sure what they may carry.. Here they are far more I am sure, even online they are 5 a pop for non check ball and 10 with..
From what I have seen, you put clip on before you push in line and it snaps in place when locks.. then locking cap goes over..
Bigger one is with check ball if they ask...
great video!
thanks you sub to your channel
What size is the o ring if you had a kit full of o rings
at 7:00 helped me the most i hate those clips
This is very helpful. Any idea on the part number for the other fitting?
+Reverend Sunshine hello reverend..the other part number is acdelco 24236555 its a dealer item only..thanks for watching
i have an 08 impala and have an issue, was wondering if you have experienced it. when coming from a stop sometimes it wont go that quick. I can hear the engine accelerate but it only moves a little then jerks to the next gear ( i think). it only does it sometimes though so i don't know what it is. i am sure it's something transmission related. I don't mind getting jerked around but not by my car ha ha
Raining none Update?
Torque converter
pressure solenoid..
try changing fluid and filter first. If not metal shavings have caused the solenoid to not work. have to pull the tire, the axle and the side cover plate to get to it.
Is this process the same for the one next to it because that fitting is the one I have to replace
Yes it is..i will be making a video for that one also..thanks for watching
