I love how fitting Rufus’ personality and behavior is to his characters backstory. He’s a spoiled arrogant rich kid who’s used to getting his way, but has a competitive edge to him because he’s not used to losing. He very obviously received some of the best training available growing up due to his fathers resources, but because of his sheltered and padded upbringing he’s inexperienced in real battle which shows. So he goes and puts some effort in the time between his fight with cloud in remake and rebirth, improving his skills and getting R&D to make him a new toy. But when he comes up short again, he behaves like a spoiled brat and refuses to accept defeat just leaving and calling it a farce after clearly considering it otherwise 😂 bratty even as an adult.
He also just got out of like 4 years of House arrest in Turks HQ. Rufus was going stir crazy in there Edit: Its also a farce because Cloud was never a SOLDIER and Rufus knows it
Rufus Shinra had a lot of potential, but Advent Children sealed his fate as just another narcissist. All that's left is to watch the spectacle of getting his ego bruised while he throws money at his problems. Entertaining enough for a side character.

Though my post really meant that their banter is more brotherly and they never seemed to really hate each other and only really fight if theyre in each others way But if we're if we’re talking about Rufus half brother Lazard he was born to a poor woman in the slums and rose up in Shinra and he’s the one who promoted Zack to first class, he’s also resentful that he had to grow up in poverty in the slums while being the presidents illegitimate son. Who knows if President Shinra slept around with poor woman he could have had a child with Clouds mother and Lazard knowing this could have assigned Cloud to Zacks unit to keep them close since he would have a soft spot for another poor illegimitate child of the President.
Rufus has the coldest voice lines he's such a cocky b**ch i love him sm and im so glad y'all finally realize he's underated af. No one cared about him until rebirth..
I agree but that’s partly because he had more presence in Rebirth throughout the entire campaign. I’ve debated with a few I said he had a better screen presence than Sephiroth
Rufus sucks lol just a random introduction, cloud should've finished it at the building. FF always lets their villains stay alive cuz the main characters are soft anime characters it's tiring.
If I was to guess, Rufus and the Turks while not enhanced probably use a lot of the purple independent materia that boosts their stats, and then fight physically and special weapons
