Great videos, these are the information us normal folks need. Us that needs to plan everything ahead. Us that are nervous about traveling. Us that have anxiety. This is great for us. Thank you.
That monorail was a dead horse from the day it started. Too far to walk to and very inconvenient stops. They should have constructed it directly above the Strip but the taxicab lobby put a stop to that. Now the trams on the west side are very convenient and FREE.
Yeah I remember spending about 30-40 minutes wandering around one of the hotels trying to locate the monorail before giving up and walking, I've been 5 times now and still haven't actually gotten to ride the damn thing.
You just don't go to the convention center for work. When there is a 5 day convention going on. All you have to do is book a hotel that is connected to the monorail, and that gives you an easy route to and from work. I couldn't imagine ubering to the convention. The monorail is not for people that is just vacationing. Why do you think resort worlds tesla loop only goes to the convention center. Las Vegas eats on people coming to conventions all year long not the casual vacationer.
I don't recommend getting a rental car in Vegas. 1) Not only are you paying quite a bit for a daily rental, you are paying parking fees at every hotel - the one you're staying at and the ones you visit - every day of your vacation. 2) There's a lot of traffic on the strip, especially at night. Who needs the aggravation of sitting in traffic? Besides, it's much more fun riding in someone else's vehicle and being able to look around and view the beauty of Las Vegas! 3) The parking lots are WAY away from the main attractions. There's enough walking to do in Vegas. Don't add to it by having to walk to and from the lot over and over. 4) If you plan on being on the Strip only, there are better transportation options (cab, Uber, the Deuce bus, the monorails and trams). 5) Time is valuable when going to Vegas. I think too much time is wasted shuttling back and forth from the airport to the rental car site to get and return your car. Plus, you would think the car is a big time saver. It's not. Transportation is readily available - right outside the front door. Also, if you add up the cost of using them, you will spend less than if you rent a car. 6) The only reason that makes sense to rent a car is if you're either making multiple trips to downtown or you want to visit things like the Grand Canyon, the Red Rock casino, legalized brothels (yes many guys go to them) or other places further away from the Strip. One last tip: if you MUST rent a car, there are car rental locations ON the strip itself - like at Treasure Island. Easy pickup and return. If I'm staying a week in Vegas, I might get a rental car for a day or two to get to places further away. You don't really need one the whole week. There are so many things to do, you won't want to waste a lot of energy on the hassles of car rental.
Great informative VLOG Chris. I had no idea they were closing down the monorail, it's a great asset but cannot imagine it's used massively because it's not overly visible. On my first trip to Vegas we stayed at Sahara and rode the monorail to MGM every day to see centre and south strip, it was great value and easy to use.
My favourite time to visit Vegas is May or June, not quite peak summer for temperatures but very nice weather and enough people around that poker rooms are busy yet you can get reservations for all shows and restaurants easy enough.
Tip: if you’re a military vet, you’ll get automatically upgraded to the second lowest loyalty tier for free. For MLife and Caesars rewards, that includes free parking at any of their properties and if you go the bellagio buffet, you can use their express line to skip the line. Other buffets usually need you to be the second highest or highest tier to skip the line. Also, shoutout to the spunky princess. She’s too adorable. 😂🤘
Great job Chris, as usual! Also, folks should remember that Resorts World is getting ready to, if not already doing so, charging $10 per day for parking. Then for folks like myself who would Never pay $70 for a brunch buffet, folks may want to also consider other properties like the MGM Resorts along the Strip, as well as an outstanding inexpensive buffet at the Palm Resort off of the Strip. Happy New Year! CAB😊
Resorts World is indeed (technically) charging $10 for parking but all you need to get that waived is to have their rewards card. And who goes into any casino without one of those anyways?
I think the Monorail is going to be around for a couple of years, and yes, the MGM grand stop is terrible, however, the Westgate and Sahara stops are right near the casinos, and other stops are pretty near the strip. I love breezing above the buildings - and traffic can be really jammed down below.
Love these updates Chris! Gearing up for trip #10 with the family in early February - we always look for your latest Vegas posts before we plan! Sad to see the monorail go - fun to ride but its quite a hike from most resorts.
If you wanted to get to Westgate or SLS/Sahara (which are both off the beaten track for 'regular' vistors but worth a detour if you have never been) the Monorail was really useful. Otherwise it was kind of unnecessary.
I went to Vegas in November as well. The weather wasn’t too bad, one night I forgot to bring a jacket. it was getting cold, so I got a hoodie from the viva Vegas shop at the Paris hotel for only $17.
Thanks for sharing this! I have used your tips for LV, Hawaii, Singapore & they come in handy when my wife, me, and my mini me travel! Hope to run into you one of these days & tap on some extra tips as well!
Looking forward to to this trip. Already booked a tour that will pick me up from my hotel and goes to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon. Breakfast and lunch are included.
We tried the monorail one time back in 2007. I remember walking and walking and walking all the way through the MGM to get to the back and i never thought we'd get there!! Once we did, there were hardly any people on it but it got us quickly to the hotel next yo ours.
I love Vegas so much, went by myself last November for my 30th birthday , got some comped nights at aria with an app ! I usually walk all day, not gamble really much and usually have breakfast at coffee bean around noon and dinner some pizza at a nice restaurant , something I didn’t like this time was the pump it up at ballys arcade the pads were off , thanks for the videos and happy new year Chris !
Excellent video you hit on so many key points. You speak so fluently on the info as if you're reading it. Impressive. Not sure if you mentioned it but those discount show ticket kiosks on the strip can save you some good money . Thanks for the free parking hotel update. Viva las vegas for NFL playoffs!! Circa rocks!! Your daughter is so cute
One thing to remember about the likes of Tix 4 Tonite or whatever the discount ticket kiosks are called, is that they don't actually sell you a ticket. They sell you a voucher that you take to the ticket office to exchange for a ticket, so you can't actually choose what seat you get but it's still a good deal.
Great video, Chris!! we're actually going to Vegas right at the end of March for a Maroon 5 concert and this is an exceptional video getting to know Vegas. vegas changes practically every year, after all, so I'm staying in the know!!
Chris, I can’t get enough of your “Las Vegas worst hotel” blog. From the marihuana /urine smells, to the eyelash glued to the bathroom wall. ( it just gold ) 😂
Great video and tips! Yes, if you go Sunday to Thursday you can get great deals on hotels. Another great non casino hotel is MGM Signature. Huge rooms with whirlpool tubs, full kitchenette and balconies. Moving walkways all the way to MGM Grand and full pool access to the MGM Grand pools. I am not a huge gambler but I religiously use my MGM Rewards card on the slot machines. After each trip I always get emails with MGM room comps for 1-4 nights.
Thanks for all of your Las Vegas video content. My husband and I just returned from a week there...visiting his Las Vegas 30 years resident in Summerlin/MGM Grand Employee brother/my brother-in-law. 😊🧳✈️😁❤️
Just had the Bachanal Buffet the other day! So great and we lucked out that they didn't enforce the 1.5 hour limit with us. We were there closer to 2.5 hours. And that roast pork in the Chinese section is Filipino style lechon! I was happy they had a little Filipino section there but there was a ton of great food!
These are some awesome tips! I really need to consider heading to the Vegas area possibly this year as Nevada is one of the 4 states I still need to visit. I will keep all of these in mind when I eventually go!
Hi Chris. Thank you for the update info for Las Vegas. I plan my trip at the end of October/early November because I love the weather at that time of year. Thanks for sharing and take care.
All your videos are really great ! I'm planning my 4th trip to vegas (from France) this june and your channel is one of my favorites source of informations ! for the "getting in" part, I think you forgot to talk about public transportation, my understanding is that this is a really cheap and esay way to go to the action ! This summer I will stay in downtown and I plan to take teh CX. What do you think about it ? Is that a bad idea ?
There are relatively cheap jackets on the strip. You have to walk a tiny bit but Marshalls, Burlington Coat Factory, the Miracle Mile shops, and even the Fashion Show Mall are all reasonably priced and reasonably close depending on where you're staying.
Oh, you need cheap clothes there's Ross, Marshall n burlington on strip. Lots of clothes. I went because i thought "I need a suite jacket, they must have suites, it's Vegas!" Wrong
Take the bus route from the airport. It’s good enough for the workers, and I tried it. I had a small travel bag and they didn’t mind. It dropped me off at Carson street bus area. near downtown. Cost me 3$. And I walked 2 blocks to my hotel. 👍
Besides the ACE Shops, don't forget the CVS and Walgreens on the Strip and on Fremont. Cheapish place to stock up on water, snacks and assorted sundries. Del-Taco and In-N-Out Burger after you're tired of the buffets and rich restaurants after a few days.
Great vlog! I am so pleased to see up to date information. Going in late April 2023 and haven't been there since 2015. Excited that we are staying center Strip (Hilton Grand Vacations at the Flamingo) at a 2 BR timeshare and we will definitely see the Fountains at Bellagio in daytime and evening this trip.
Also, rental cars can be rented at hotels/resorts. Research if your fave rental co is near you or what co your place of stay has and rent from there. My last stay was at NYNY and I have an account with Enterprise. I had a short walk to The Tropicana to pick up my rental. Too easy and none of the airport hassle of the shuttle to pick up.
The shared vans aren't too bad. The speed varies wildly. It all depends on how quickly the van leaves after you buy your ticket and how many hotels the driver stops at before getting to yours.
We had a decent experience with the Bell Trans shuttle, but (1) it was 10 years ago, and (2) we were only going to Mandalay Bay, so we were basically the first stop. Not a lot of other folks on the shuttle, either. We’ve also done Uber and taxis, but of the three options, taxis have been the most reliable/best experience, overall.
I've been to Vegas one time more than I've been to Disneyland in my life i just realized . The first couple of times I went to Vegas, I was a kid. First time when I was 10, my parents and I stayed at Circus Circus 🎪 🦁 🐅🐘 ( stayed at CC in 2016 in the motor lodge building B I believe, Suffice it to say, the motor lodge had seen better days since 1992 when we stayed there), we went in July and I had a ball , we had a neighbor whose brother and sister-in-law lived there and their nieces and nephew who lived down the street from me (we grew up together) were there visiting their uncle and aunt and we kids got some pool time with my dad and their uncle watching us while my mom and their aunt gambled for a bit then switched with my dad and their uncle.. Then we went for my 12th birthday in March '94 after the MGM Grand open and I got to walk through the lion head entrance. Luxor opened the same month and year and when we got home, a few days later my dad got a flyer for the Luxor announcing it's grand opening and room rates to go with the grand opening. My parents never snuck me into a casino either time we went when I was a kid 😜 I got carded when my mom and I went to Vegas after I turned 21 back in 2003 mostly because I didn't 21. I told the security guard at the door of the New York New York that my nom could vouch I was 21 given she was right behind me . Then my mom and I took grayhound from Downtown LA to Vegas on 2005 and stayed at the Sahara.

My last stay was at NYNY and I have an account with Enterprise. I had a short walk to The Tropicana to pick up my rental. Too easy and none of the airport hassle of the shuttle to pick up.
Wow good idea!
I live in Henderson Nevada....it is much better then Summerlin and Lake Las Vegas....but love your tips
👍 📹 🎥 📻 📸. I like it.
Just curious how much time did you spend on putting it together
I'd say 40 hours in total for this video between research, going out and filming, and editing
Stay in September again. Thank you for the Video. Carmen und Sven
My pleasure Carmen and Sven!
The shared vans aren't too bad. The speed varies wildly. It all depends on how quickly the van leaves after you buy your ticket and how many hotels the driver stops at before getting to yours.
Indeed.. you could be lucky. But the times you aren't lucky it's really awful
Don't forget it is the National Rodeo Finals for tend days every year! beginning the first week of December
Great job 👍
Or if you get cold…bring an adorable little honey to put on your shoulders to warm you up! She is a delicious pumpkin, Chris!!
Awww
Hi Chris, @2:14 you forgot to turn off your notifications!🤣 Love your videos! Thanks for the awesome info!👍
Yeah. I probably did 😉
I've been to Vegas one time more than I've been to Disneyland in my life i just realized .
My parents never snuck me into a casino either time we went when I was a kid 😜
I got carded when my mom and I went to Vegas after I turned 21 back in 2003 mostly because I didn't 21. I told the security guard at the door of the New York New York that my nom could vouch I was 21 given she was right behind me . Then my mom and I took grayhound from Downtown LA to Vegas on 2005 and stayed at the Sahara.
