I go to Maui every couple of years. A few months ago, I sat under the old Banyan, eating shave ice with some roosters pecking around me. Didn't know that would be the last time. A very sad day.

Aloha and Thanks Renee. Always good to see you here, since no one can come to Hawaii without a 14-day quarantine. The GOV says the quarantine will continue thru June. UGH! In the meantime, the water is pristine and fish/turtles/seals are showing up everywhere. It's like the Maui environment has been "reborn" and it's awesome to see. You've done a lot on Maui, and there's still more for you to see and do. In the meantime, enjoy your river and palatial house boat and treasure the moments in the past .... as you make plans for the future! Best Aloha Wishes to you and your FAM.

Hey Steve good video. You mentioned that the tree was planted in 1873, I think the first time I saw it was 1973. That's a hundred years right there, so pretty amazing. I know the birds sure like it and it's across from My favorite watering hole Capt. Jacks. Aloha til next time.

I’m confident the tree survived the catastrophic fire that destroyed everything around it, due to its great size. Some of it will have been killed, but it will be resprouting leaves within days. Sadly, it’ll be the only sign of life for some time.

I remember climbing on hat tree when I was there in the 70;s as a kid. I met a Hawaiian boy there and we played on that tree all afternoon together.

No, the tree is still standing and although part of was probably killed, I’m sure it has survived and will sprout new leaves in the near future.
