Super helpful and informative. As I understand it Ibruprpfen works to relieve inflammation and the pain from inflamation. The one question I have is how do you know if your child has an inflmation? My personal experience is that when I have sought medical advice for high fever I have been told it is likely viral. Does a viral infection cause inflammation? If there is no inflation does Ibruprofen provide relied anyway? Many thanks for all the work you put in xxxxxx
This is SUCH a great question. Inflammation is generally associated with infection, redness and swelling. So if your child has simple pain such as headache id suggest paracetamol. If they complain of pain and have a concurrent viral or bacterial infection then they may have inflammatory pain and ibuprofen may work better. Pain associated with muscle, teething, joints is likely to be inflammation-related xx
My daughter has had her tonsils and adenoids taken out and have been paracetamol and ibuprofen to alternate. But they didn’t say how many days to do this for. You said it’s for short term usage but they said pain can last for up to 10 days. So how long is it best to have it till?
Exactly what I was trying to Google this evening! Thank you for posting this
